LOVE THE EXPATRIATE

LOVE THE EXPATRIATE
33. Overdose (3)

Shortly after Edward returned from the mosque, a nurse came out of the emergency room.

“Family patient on behalf of Miss Mikaila Polvdoski!” yells.

“I'm his family.” said Edward soon wake up and get closer.

“Doctor wants to talk to you.” said the nurse as she let the man in and delivered him to a man in a white coat sitting behind a desk.

“How are things, doctor?” edward asked as he sat before the man.

“Who am I talking to?”

“I'm Edward Anderson, doctor.”

“For a while, Mr. Edward. Later I will explain about the current condition of the patient.”

“What is your relationship with Miss Mikaila Polv-dos-ki?” ask the doctor to spell Mikaila's last name.

“Family, relatives, or.?”

“Friends.” Edward cut the doctor's question.

“Ouh yes.” response smile while writing something.

“Work friend or date?” ask again.

Edward felt that the doctor in front of him was not like most emergency room doctors. He thought the man was too thin like a psychiatric doctor or psychiatrist. God, is my word really going to happen? Mikaila needs to be treated by a psychiatrist? Her thought.

“Sorry doctor, do you need to ask about privacy like that? I just want to know how it is?” edward was less pleased.

The doctor smiled.

“Very necessary, Sir. I need to know the patient's background to find the cause of Miss Mikaila's overdose.”

“Over dosage!?” Edward's surprised.

“Yes. That's why I need to know you're his date or not?”

“Yes. I am his date.” said the man confessed as well.

“But it has been more than two months we are no longer in touch.”

“Reason?” ask the doctor while writing.

“Sorry, doctor. Looks like you don't need to know the reason what.” he said off guard.

“Okey, I'm not forcing because it's your privacy.” said the doctor looked at Edward.

“But you should know, whatever the reason, it seems like that is the cause of Miss Mikaila to take sedatives exceeding the dose. Probably between five to eight grains.”

Tranquillizers. Why did he take tranquilizers? Edward wondered.

“What tranquilizer drug does he drink, doctor?” The man's eyes were wide.

“We can't yet ascertain what kind. The sample is being tested in the lab. But we also detected high levels of alcohol from his body. Is Miss Mikaila an alcoholic?”

“Ya.” Answer Edward. He saw a bottle of champagne in Mikaila's room.

“That's what triggers the patient's condition to get worse.”

“So how is it now?”

“Nona Mikaila has passed her critical period and has now been moved to the ICU room. But at the moment he can not be visited by anyone.”

Edward heard the doctor's explanation in front of him.

When he received a business card from Edward, the doctor spoke again with a smile.

“My advice, tonight you should go home and rest. You look messy, Mr.”

Edward frowned at the man's words. He stepped into the mirror near the sink and saw the image of his face that had begun to grow.

Not only do you look like Edward Anderson's mess, but it's also pretty awful,

Today you were really bothered by two women. It turns out that all this time you have not fully understood about women. They can do anything for a man to bend his knees at his feet.

I hope Sarah isn't like that if she's married to you. Edward spoke to his shadow.

A very exhausting day. Edward walked down the hospital hallway in shaky steps while looking at the watch in his hand. Time has shown 01.15 WIB.

...------------------------------------------...

Edward arrived at the hospital at ten in the morning.

The man had called Adrian and told his assistant that he was likely to the office by noon because he was going to the hospital this morning. Before going to the ICU room, he went to the administration first to take care of Mikaila's maintenance costs. But when she got there, the officer informed her that the cost of Miss Mikaila Polvdoski's treatment had been covered. Not long ago, two people from the company where he worked came and took care of all the needs of the woman.

Edward was reunited with the doctor last night who he knew was named Hadi Prasetyo from the name tag he wore. The man looked younger with a sky blue shirt and a cream tie behind his white suit.

“Please sit Mr. Edward.” welcome once Edward enters with a smile.

“You look handsome and neater today. How was your break last night?”

“Thank you doctor. I slept well tonight.” he said.

Because it was so good that he could not pray at dawn because eight o'clock just woke up. Last night he was too tired and at three o'clock in the morning he fell asleep. Before reading the results of Mikaila's examination, the doctor also informed her that before her, there was also a company where Mikaila worked to meet her and see Mikaila.

“And now I want to tell you the results of the examination Miss Mikaila.” he said while opening a map containing sheets of lab results.

“As we previously suspected that patients taking benzodiazepine tranquilizers with the type used alprazolam.”

Edward listened carefully.

“This drug is not recommended to be consumed for a long period of time because it will cause dependence. Looks like the patient has been more than two months consuming this.”

“And from the concentration of liquid we removed last night, it is estimated that he swallowed more than five grains. And fatal again, he also drank alcohol.”

Edward remained silent.

“And you should know, Sir. The function of his liver and liver has been disrupted, and his kidneys have swelled.”

Edward was finally shocked. The man remembered something. It turns out that's what makes Mikaila always complain of pain in her waist.

“Why is it as bad as a doctor?”

“Many triggers that make his organs disturbed. Due to smoking, alcohol, fatigue and prolonged stress. Plus the repeated use of benzodiazepines aggravates the condition."

"And an overdose overnight made his already frail body colaps.”

“Can he be cured, doctor?”

“With intensive therapy for several months, hopefully Miss Mikaila will recover. Let me take a look at the patient.” he explained then stand with Edward.

The nurse guides Edward into the sterilization room to wear a coat, mask, and headgear. A few minutes later, he was already standing in front of Mikaila's room. A sense of compassion led to the sight of the woman lying unconscious through the glass wall. His face was pale as cotton. In his mouth was installed a breathing apparatus, and next to his bed was attached a heart rate monitor screen.

It turns out that not only the psychological problems experienced by Mikaila, but the physical woman was also disturbed. Edward regretted why Mikaila did not follow his advice to check himself when he found out there were complaints that he felt from his body.

And Edward did not expect, if the woman had been more than two months on sedatives. That means coinciding as he breaks off the relationship without their bond.

Is Mikaila feeling sad because I left her? But why did he never say anything to me? He always said he didn't want to be tied to a relationship. Edward's guesses continued to rage in his mind.
