CHAPTER 42: SURPRISE ATTACKS

By night, most of Myro's troops had fallen asleep while the number of patrolling troops was approximately 50.

Although there were many fire torches in the camp that made the entire camp bright, but the surrounding grassland area was still quite dark because there was no lighting there, therefore it is quite difficult to find the presence of enemies if they move slowly without causing any noise due to the dark conditions.

Amidst the dark, the patrolling soldiers looked unafraid, even some of them fell asleep because they would never think there were already people who would try to attack them when they had only arrived here for less than a day. Even they thought, the barbarian soldiers were completely unaware of their arrival.

Unwittingly, quite far from the camp there were about 1000 barbarian troops complete with their horses waiting silently.

Although the distance is quite far, their leader Ranta is able to see the Myro camp patrol troops who look very careless.

A smile appeared on Ranta's face, he patted the shoulder of the barbarian next to him "Are you from the Itv Tribe? All right, the information you provided was genuine and very useful regarding the enemy's whereabouts! After the attack this time is successful, neither you nor your tribe will receive a reward. What about other tribes? Did they send help? Besides you've agreed to attack this incoming army and take all the supplies they bring, I'm sure no tribe would dare to refuse father's decision, right?".

A barbarian from the Irvy tribe stepped forward "Don't worry young master, all the tribes have given their support so we get the help of 1000 more troops, so there are 2000 troops that we bring. If not for the sudden decision to attack, the other tribes would have been able to prepare even more troops".

Ranta looked at the barbarian who spoke without any arrogance as the son of the chieftain because the one who spoke earlier was Hulard, a rank 7 magician as well as the sage of the Irvy Tribe. Never mind himself, even his own father respected Hulard enough and always called him using the title of master.

However, those from the barbarian tribe have strong bodies from birth, all men have bodies that are suitable as fighters, there are some women who are strong but they should not go to war because of the rules of the barbarian tribe that prioritizes male soldiers except for certain tribes that have different rules.

For this reason, most of the barbarian tribes lacked intelligent people who chose to learn, most of them chose to train their strength to become the strongest warriors of the tribe and then rise to the position of chief. The lack of intelligent people made those who were knowledgeable in the barbarian tribe highly respected.

"Mr Hulard, what are we going to do now?", asked Ranta respectfully.

Hulard did not immediately reply, thinking for a while before answering "Based on the number of tents in the enemy camp, it seems true that their number is less than 700 people as reported from the Itv tribe earlier. Their patrols were also seen off guard and there were no horses which meant they were all infantry, the best target of our cavalry troops. Therefore, we must attack the enemy while there is a chance. As long as the young master is able to win in this fight and bring back the chief of the enemy leader to the chieftain, I believe the chieftain will definitely trust the young master more and give more troops. Even so I could not make a decision, all decisions both attacking and retreating were in the hands of the young master".

Ranta nodded, completely persuaded by Hulard's last words "You're right, Mr. Hulard, I'm going to attack the enemy now because there's not necessarily a better chance in the future".

Seeing Ranta seduced easily, Hulard smiled disdainfully. Whether the chief or his son, they were all easily persuaded by some deceitful words. That reason that makes Hulard happy to stay in the barbarian region rather than go to other more advanced areas, here there are many people that he can control according to what he thinks, Hulard felt like a king.

Unbeknownst to Ranta that Hulard was underestimating him which was easily persuaded, Ranta drew his sword which was 2 meters high, even bigger than his own body and pointed his sword towards the front "The whole assault force! Let us show these people the price they must pay when they dare to come to our land!".

"Get it!".

Every time this pack of cavalry horses stomped their feet to the ground, they would cause a huge sound as well as tremors on the ground like an earthquake.

The patrols, who were aware of the attack by the noise of panic, shouted or rang the bell to wake all the soldiers to prepare.

Looking at Myro's panicked army, the smile on Ranta's face became wider, he raised his giant sword up high "Kill all the enemy troops, don't let anyone get away from here alive-hidu-".

Suddenly Ranta who shouted loudly was surprised to find his horse fell, more precisely there was a hole in front of him that made him and his horse fall. Although the hole is only 1 meter high, those who live about 5 steps away from the wooden fence of the enemy camp must stop their steps due to a fall.

Ranta who was spinning on the ground due to falling immediately stood up, he found around him besides himself, there were a lot of troops of his own who fell.

"What's going on here? Why is there a hole in the street-", Ranta shouted furiously, but his voice stopped when a woman's scream was heard.

"Light!".

In Ranta's eyes, he saw a bright light from the magic wand of a witch who illuminated the entire area, when it was very dark and there was only a torch light, but now the surrounding situation becomes a light that is not inferior to daylight. The woman who used this light magic was none other than Tifari, then there were about 500 soldiers lined up orderly behind her.

Next to Tifari, Myro stood with Kanson guarding behind him.

Myro raised the sword in his hand while shouting "Prepare your bows, pull-".

The troops behind Myro began to pull their bows and lift them up into the sky to shoot towards Myro's army.

Seeing the preparations of Myro's army to shoot arrows, Ranta began to panic.

He ran to the back and shouted "No, I have to back off!".

But it was too late for Ranta to run because he was trapped in the ravine, Myro waved his sword forward and shouted "Shoot!".

Hundreds of arrows flew from the Myro camp towards the barbarian army as it rained.
