I'm Not the Hands of the Devil

I'm Not the Hands of the Devil
chapter 24: I Am Not the Feet of the Devil's Hand

“One more day to help someone,” Lin Jie sighed in satisfaction as she returned to her seat behind the counter.

There are really not many good-natured people in society today.

Lin Jie knew that the next door neighbor was actually a vagrant who spent the entire day lying in front of the television without doing anything. Surely, some would wonder if there was any point in helping such a person.

But when behaving with integrity, one must consider the long term. The branding of the store should be built from the smallest aspect.

Just like how he gets his loyal customers because he is good at understanding others, offering them advice, and being their friend.

For him, the audio-video store next door was an important source of customers.

Only by comparison will there be a deeper understanding.

Just imagine if the customer next door asked, the boss of the audio-video store could tell that Lin Jie was a good person. Thus, those people would have a positive connotation from the neighboring bookstore owners.

Perhaps, it might make them consider coming to take a look.

I hope the boss next door can understand my good intentions and help bring me some customers.

The bells on the door slightly rattled, accompanied by raindrops that became isolated once again as the door closed.

Lin Jie looked up and was stunned for a moment before he smiled slightly in surprise, Old “Wil, why are you back so quickly this time?”

Wilde has arrived. He was wearing a suit like before, only that he was now wearing a slightly longer robe, roughly long enough to hide his arm.

Lin Jie always felt Old Wil had a good sense of dress. His style is like British men's and today's clothing seems to have an atmosphere of mystery.

Wilde took off his hat and bowed half before heading to the seat in front of the counter. Taking the book, he said excitedly, “Thank you for your generosity, I have made great progress and it feels as if inspiration is flowing through my body. I feel that I will be able to make a breakthrough soon.”

He felt that he was one step away from the Highest rank. Although the ravine was still enormous, Wilde knew that it was no longer possible to reach.

All he needed was to refine the concept of his soul and find the language that belonged to him.

Lin Jie clapped his hands and said excitedly, “ Breaking through the current stage is really not easy. Let me congratulate you before. If you need help, I will do my best. ”

Wilde put the book on the table. “I'm very grateful, Mr. Lin. I have benefited a lot from your work, but now it's time for me to express my gratitude properly. ”

Wilde had previously given Lin Jie a stone gargoyle, but compared to the help Lin Jie had given him, the value of the gargoyle was negligible.

Therefore, he wanted to give Lin Jie the gift he had prepared for two years. This gift was also the reason why he had been hiding for the past two years.

Only such a gift could match the goodwill he had received during these past two years.

Wilde had his own honor and principles even though he was a merciless black magician and strongly believed in repaying kindness with kindness.

“I've been very happy with your gift before.I really should reconsider accepting it if you're going to give me something precious this time, I'm really going to have to reconsider, ”said Lin Jie while staring at the stone statue on the table.

Wilde knew that Mr. Lin had only given him solace.

“You need not hesitate. To be honest, it has little value that can be used for me, but maybe it could be more beneficial for you, ”desak Wilde. “I'll be very sad if you don't receive it.”

Since Wilde said it like this, Lin Jie couldn't resist. “We've talked a lot but I still don't know what you're preparing for. How about letting me see it first? ”

Wilde took a deep breath and carefully took out an ornament that looked like a wind bell from within his robe.

It had a circular frame made of twigs with pearls embedded between the intertwined ropes, forming a beautiful and intricate net. Right in the middle was a small hole with blue gemstone as the only piece of jewelry. Under the frame hangs some soft bristles.

“Dream catcher?” Lin Jie raised an eyebrow. He never imagined that this would be Old Wil's gift.

As a doctoral student in folklore studies, Lin Jie's research is not just on indigenous customs. Often, he had to learn and refer from various sources, and thus he learned little about the folklore and customs of other countries.

In Native American culture, dream catchers were considered sacred items or charms. Native Americans believed that the night air was full of dreams and only dream catchers could filter out nightmares and capture beautiful dreams.

Only a good dream can pass through the hole in the middle and flow down along the fur whereas a nightmare will get stuck in the net and disappear at sunrise.

There are some legends that say that the pearl on the dreamcatcher is energy and wisdom that is captured during sleep and can strengthen one's communication with the spiritual world.

In short, it is a blessing full of mystery and mysticism.

Lin Jie did not imagine that such items would exist in this world.

“You are indeed really knowledgeable,” Wilde sighed with admiration as he raised the dreamcatcher in his hand, “This dreamcatcher.”

She was not surprised that Lin Jie recognized her because the dream catcher was a magic tool. Although not commonly seen, they were also not uncommon, at least in the eyes of a Destructive rank black mage.

Furthermore, the greatest value of a dreamcatcher does not come from itself, but from dreams in the net.

This was also the first time Lin Jie had seen an authentic handmade dreamcatcher. The dream catchers in the shops were mostly flashy mass-produced ornaments that had little or no artistic value whereas the ones held by Wilde were clearly hand-woven.

Only

Moreover, the recent extremely heavy weather had made him sultry inside the bookstore and Lin Jie couldn't sleep well.

Old Wil is really wise here! Not the prize but his thoughts are important! That is true friendship!

Lin Jie was somewhat touched. He stood up, took the dreamcatcher from Old Wil and sighed in satisfaction. “That's all I need. Thank you, Old Wil. ”

Wilde felt a heavy burden lifted from his mind. “It is an honor for me to be useful to you,” Wilde said with a smile.

An incomparably beautiful dream was caught in this dreamcatcher net, but at the same time, there was a terrifying danger within it. A person without the highest level of mental strength was unable to enter the dream and if they did, their soul would probably be destroyed instantly.

However, for a high-level existence, the dream would bring rare enjoyment and pleasure.

“May you dream beautiful.”
