I'm Not the Hands of the Devil

I'm Not the Hands of the Devil
Chapter 19: I Am Not the Feet of the Devil

“Thank you,” Joseph said instinctively and these words were indeed his deepest feelings. Although his suspicion and vigilance did not diminish, he was sincerely grateful.

Joseph sat upright, his heavy body putting great pressure on this old deck chair, causing it to produce a loud creak. Grimacing, he decided to stand up.

The bookstore owner waved his hand nonchalantly and said, “It's okay, helping customers is something I have to do. By the way, how are you feeling now?”

Joseph moved his joints and muscles, then clenched his hands, creating a sound similar to a tight-pulled bowstring. It was as if this fist was a drawn bow filled with accumulated energy that would display an extremely shocking power when unleashed.

He took a deep breath, his mind in a calm state. Unlike past situations where he was tormented by delusions, his senses became very clear. This is an unprecedented state of relaxation.

There are still remnants of Candela's sentiment.

Tranquility, joy, comfort…

Unable to control himself, a relieved smile appeared on Joseph's face. The feeling of being at its peak finally returned after two years.

Lin Jie watched from the side as his lips twitched slightly. If this uncle's fist hit someone, it would most likely be fatal. He now felt his conjecture was rather precise.

This attitude, he actually had the aura of a military man.The firm appearance and dangerous aura that made my feathers stand up.

“I'm fine now. Never better, ”Joseph nodded as he pulled his clenched fist and took a normal posture.

Deep down, he pondered what the bookstore owner had said. Helping customers is something I have to do. Does he mean to say that he takes a neutral stance and helps any customer regardless of who they are?

Even a vile and ruthless black mage like Wilde, or a shattered knight so desperately wants revenge like me. No, this seems more like a chaotic desire to be good. Anyone who walks into this bookstore will receive help from this owner.

Joseph only saw this modus operandi among one community—elf.

A minority race from ancient times that has not died to this day, elves are creatures with long lifespans, graceful and proficient in many arts.

Joseph felt that the aura of this bookstore owner before him was very similar to theirs.

Only with longevity will one lose the desire to determine between good and evil and instead spend his time pursuing new interests.

Bookstore owners treat others with courtesy and with natural elegance. Also, running a bookstore and his love of reading books was related to elves' interest in art. People are not interested in books right now.

Coincidentally, the first owner of the demon sword Candela was an elf named Candela. Furthermore, from a long-forgotten legend, Candela was a prince of the ancient elf kingdom and later became the king of the moon elves. In addition, he is also known by two other names, ‘source of big pestilence’ and ‘orang kalun first’.

His descent into madness was long lost in history but the only thing famous was that he had killed himself with his own sword.

The sword became the wedge that crucified his soul.

His soul became a curse, causing this sword to become a demon sword. So, the prince and his sword came to share a name.

From then on, every demon sword user would eventually die after going insane.

Before today, Joseph felt that he was not too far away to achieve this goal. But everything is different now!

This book in his hand could really calm the demon sword Candela! Therefore, as she thought about it, she felt that the bookstore owner who was capable of possessing such a book could only be an elf…

Given this assumption, the absence of interference on the ether makes sense. If an elf had survived from ancient times until now, he would not have been able to use his strength in any other aspect besides prolonging his own life!

While holding the book in his hand, Joseph looked towards the bookstore owner and muttered, “You mentioned earlier that this is the only copy and you like to read it .. Can this be borrowed?”

Lin Jie blinked once, then chuckled, “Of course, I wouldn't take it out or recommend it if that wasn't the case.” Clearing his throat, Lin Jie continued. “Actually, I feel that this book is perfect for you the first time I saw you.”

“Many others like you suffer tremendous pain from inner suffering and regret, often finding yourself lacking in strength and determination. As a result, things like this due to doubting yourself end up driving you crazy.”

Unfortunately, Lin Jie had seen war veterans before. Often, their mistakes and experiences on the battlefield will eat away at them inside because most of the time, even the smallest mistake on the battlefield can easily cost them lives.

“But in fact, it is not the pain that defeats them, but the kindness of those who are weak.”

Joseph was dumbfounded and muttered, “Keep?”

He had met two demon sword users before, both of them were Great Shining Knights from the reputable Secret Tower. Both do great deeds and have perfect principles.

But eventually, without exception, they were corrupted by the demon sword. In the end, their greatest regret was the lack of strength that made them unable to fully control the demonic sword!

Lin Jie shook his head as he looked at Joseph deeply, then back to the back of the counter. Folding his hands, he continued, “Beauty is a good thing. But the key word here is fragile.”

“The expectations of such people are too high because of their good morals and sense of responsibility. In order to provide help and confidence to others, such people would arm themselves to look like nothing could bring them down but in reality, such defenses were extremely weak. ”

“Once the spirit is destroyed, anything can become a crack in that armor. This kindness can save others but is powerless to save themselves.

And when you stare long enough into the abyss, the abyss will stare back inside you—There are times where you don't have to be an almighty hero unless, rather, it is, ordinary people instead. Retreating at the right time is a form of courage and should not overwhelm you.”

Chicken soup is shared! There's no way you haven't been moved. Lin Jie put on his usual professional smile.

This is Master Lin's classic marketing technique, tying customers and merchandise together to make him feel worthy of such an item.

Joseph pondered over Lin Jie's words and felt a little enlightened.

So thats…

Only

The damage to the demonic sword did not happen overnight. Knights have perfect ideals but they end up eroding.

They always assumed that the curse was too strong. But no one thought that behind it all, it was actually the demon sword that gripped the user's ‘iblis inward’!

We've been wrong all along! Damnit damnit!

“But will calming it work for a long time?” joseph asked with a frown.

Hm?

“Of course not,” replied Lin Jie while shaking his head. But it was soon followed by a smile. “But if you want, I can help if you entrust it to me for long-term effectiveness.”

Heheh, if this happens, won't I get a long-term customer who wants to solve his emotional problems? Lin Jie thought with pleasure.
