It has been 2 hours Emy sat on a park bench in front of the Gonghwa Sanatorium. He still gathered the courage to go in and visit his adoptive mother, Han In Na.
Emy still remembers her childhood when her mother In Na and her father Sie Jee Jung raised her as a child and took her to Seoul.
At that time Emy was 6 years old, but still did not go to school. Not that Emy's parents didn't want to send her to school, but since Emy took the school entrance test, no school was willing to accept her as a student.
Whereas in Meranti Village, the birthplace of Emilia Yolanda Lumanauw, real name Emy Sie, there are 3 public schools and 1 private owned by PGRI.
Every time Emilia took the test, the results always failed. And that caused papa Emilia to hold on to emotions if she saw little Emilia.
Papa Emilia is a teacher from the tip of Celebes island, Manado, North Sulawesi. While his wife, Mama Emilia, is a midwife from Surabaya who is of Dutch-Chinese blood.
Jason, as the name of the father Emilia, was ashamed because his son did not go down to his intelligence or his wife. Only Emilia's sister has a smart brain.
Yason, who was a Junior High teacher in the town of Sidomakmur, and 3km from the village of Meranti, was a smart teacher.
He was willing to work as a Junior High teacher in this village, because at first, his wife who was a midwife was assigned here for 3 years. But, since Liena liked the air in this village, she was willing to settle down in the village of Meranti.
It was the absolute goal of Emilia's father, that his children should be smart. So, when Emilia showed results that were different from her expectations and not as smart as her brother, Denis, Mr. Yason, it was like losing his mind to see Emilia.
He will be angry even though Emilia has done nothing wrong and will immediately hit him if there is a little mistake.
Mama Emilia, Lienda Djiksma himself was silent when it happened. He only hugged and kissed his little daughter after getting a tantrum from her papa. However, there was still a radiance of sadness and tenderness in Lienda's eyes.
Little Emilia still does not understand her father's attitude and why he did not go to school. Every time he asked his mother, their answer was the same, "You can't! Learn again!"
Beware of the same answer every time he asked, Emilia decided to borrow her sister's books even she borrowed her mother's book secretly for fear of getting angry again.
2 Years later, Emilia is now 8 years old. His village had a volunteer group of doctors from Korea, Taiwan and Poland to provide free examinations and treatment.
Because it is still very rural, the volunteer doctors were entrusted by the village head, to houses that are fairly livable.
One of them is the small house of Emilia. Korean doctors Sie Jee Jung and Han In Na were welcomed by Yason and Lienda.
Stayed for a few days at Emilia's little house, making dr. Sie and dr. Han put his pity on Emilia. They see how Yason doesn't really care about his daughter.
Until one night, dr. Sie and dr. Han asks Yason and Lienda to take care of Emilia. They reasoned that they had been married for 10 years, but had not been blessed with children and that was the fact.
Initially, Yason and Lienda objected, because Emilia was her biological daughter. But, after hearing the explanation of dr. Sie, finally Yason and Lienda agreed and Emilia innocently agreed to go with dr. Sie and dr. Han as his son, as they promised to send Emilia who was Emilia's greatest wish.
6 Days later, Emilia was brought to Seoul, after the preparation of the letters was completed in Indonesia. Emilia changed her name to Emy Sie and her Korean name, Sie Yin Young.
Emy enjoys her school in Korea. Because Emy is not yet fluent in Korean and can only learn English from films on TV and her sister's books, then Emy was educated at Seoul International Elementary School.
3 Months Emy went to school there until a BK teacher called dr. Sie and dr. Han to come to school and at the same time was the answer to their hesitation all along.
Emy has an IQ above the average for children her age.
Dr. Sie is an ophthalmologist while his wife is a dentist. In Emy's first month with them, they had guessed that Emy had an above-average IQ.
But, they still want to observe first because they don't want to make Emy misunderstand their intentions to make her undergo the test, they know Emy is traumatized by it.
Emy is able to master each subject easily and quickly. While in Indonesia, Emy was able to master English just by watching English films and reading books owned by her brother and father.
Not only that, Emy was able to master mathematics which was the subjects taught by Emy's birth father in junior high school
Currently, Emy has started to speak fluently and write in Korean. But, somehow Yason and Liena did not know about it. Do they not know or pretend not to know?
When dr. Sie ventured to ask Emy, then the couple understood why Emy always failed the test in Indonesia.
Emy said the test was too easy and unpleasant for her. Because Emy was only told to color, write and memorize the A-Z alphabet, counting 1-10. And that, made Emy annoyed and just fell silent without answering.
Little Emy thinks it's just to play with her and she doesn't like it. The teachers who tested no one was friendly according to him. Dr. Sie and dr. Han just laughed at Emy's reply.
Within a few days of meeting at Emy, eomma and Appa Emy schools, dr. Sie and dr. Han is now called Emy, enrolling Emy for the class jump exam (acceleration class), and the principal and teacher agree.
As a result, Emy only took her basic education for 8 months. Emy also attended one of the best Junior High schools in Seoul.
Here, Emy only took for 5 months and immediately took the SMA test. So, Emy's total school period from Elementary to Junior High was only 1 year and 3 months.
Emy had enjoyed 9 months of High School, before Eomma and Appa took her to America.
The proposal for their scholarship application was approved by Harvard University to accept Emy as a medical student at the prestigious university, after an interview that Emy did live via Skype, which she did, declared pass with high score (high value).
Emy went through her college years happily, she studied medicine for 3th and continued her studies along with residency at Harvard University Hospital, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
After completing the Master program at the same University for 3 years, Emy also successfully completed her residency and obtained a practice permit.
Emy decided to move to England, after she got a scholarship to continue her education to the MD level and again completed it within 2.6 years at the University of Oxford, England.
After Emy completed her MD, Emy returned to the United States to work at Harvard University Hospital again, when she was 18 and as a visiting lecturer at Harvard University's medical school.
Nothing meaningful happened in Emy's life in the 3 months she worked at the hospital. One day, Emy disappears due to a kidnapping by Emy's college friend who is obsessed with her.
Forcing Emy to marry him and keeping Emy in a windowless room for 3 days. Luckily, Keanan Howland, Emy's best friend and lover who teaches Emy about Coding, finds her and helps Emy at the cost of her own life. Emy was in a coma for 1 week.
Doctor Sie heard the news over the phone, about what Emy was going through. He asked the hospital to keep this a secret from the media, as Emy was still unmarried and afraid of damaging her reputation.
He also feared that his wife would be sick when he heard that. Shortly after the call, Dr. Sie had to be hospitalized in Korea for a heart attack. Doctor Han keeps contacting Emy, but he can never get to dr. Sie breathed his last breath.
Doctor Han becomes embittered and hates Emy, as he considers Emy an unfilial child.
Doctor Han even took Emy's name off her family card, and was unwilling to accept Emy back when Emy called, after waking up from a coma.
Emy tried to give an explanation and called repeatedly but there was no answer, it seemed like her foster mother had changed her number.
Later Emy finds out that dr. Han had uterine cancer and was admitted to a sanatorium, after selling his home because he had no relatives willing to care for him.
Emy could only sigh and drip a clear liquid on her cheek. He wanted to see the sweet smile of his foster mother.
Who pampered and made her favorite food. Hahaha .food .. yes .. .eomma really likes to make Emy pizza and spaghetti. Remembering that .. Emy's lips were slightly raised but with shady eyes.
