So the command to be thankful is also related to the proposition. As in the Qur'an the letter of al-Baqarah verse 152 reads:

فَاذْكُرُونِي أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَاشْكُرُوا لِي وَلَا تَكْفُرُونِ

“Fadzkuruuniy adzkurkum wasykuruuliy wa la takfuruun.”

In Surah Az-Zumar, God again confirms the command to give thanks:

لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ

“La taqnathu min gracefula"

Which means: "Do not despair of the mercy of Allah."
