After feeling that the day had started to twilight, Kevin and Khaira decided to go home.
Khaira hugs Kevin's waist, not out of fear of falling, but since she told Kevin about her pregnancy, Kevin becomes an overprotective husband.
"This anger shall not pass quickly." Kevin hummed a little.
And connected by Khaira. "This affection, I want to remember always. My heart is at peace, my soul is at peace beside you, my heart is at peace, my love is at peace with you."
When enjoying the breeze and the panorama of twilight, by riding a slow-speed motorbike. Something made Kevin feel weird. When he sees it from the rearview mirror. The antelope car drove at high speed and as it would accidentally hit him from behind, Kevin immediately responded by braking suddenly until the motorcycle tire ngeslit.
Khaira was astonished by the heroic actions performed by Kevin, to the point of making it almost hanging. "What's up, Mom?"
Khaira follows the direction of Kevin's view who is watching the speed of a high-speed car and is driven recklessly. Who could have guessed, the antelope lost control and hit a large tree on the left side of the road.
BRAK!!!
Instantly the antelope car ringsek at the front, and issued a thick smoke and sparks then burn the car until it is invisible who drives it. However, Khaira's eyes were so observant to see the license plate of the car listed.
"Uncle!" his murmur was surprised, it turned out that the driver of the car was Uncle Bonar.
Kevin and Khaira were still silent, as if there was a big nail stuck in place standing on the right side of the country road. They saw the red whiz gobbling up the entire body of the car.
Everyone who saw the accident did not dare to approach towards the burning gazelle car.
Soon the police and also the fire department who had been contacted began to extinguish the fire and the police who held the case. Look at the witnesses who saw it. Inevitably Kevin gave a statement, to the police.
"Do you know the deceased?" ask the police.
"He's my wife's uncle" replied Kevin, then gave a clear and clear account of the chronology of the accident.
~~
After a night of practicing tahlilan yasinan. Now the jazad Bonar has been buried.
Mounds of soil are still wet, the scent of fragrant flowers on mounds of soil that bury the body of someone who is no longer alive. Leaving the universe. Abah, Kevin, and the other residents accompanied Bonar to his final resting place.
An atmosphere of mourning in a large house in a row of residential buildings, a middle-aged woman crying but not making a sound, and accompanied by her son.
"Bulek." said Khaira, calling uncle Bonar's wife.
"Ningrum." Bonar's wife's raucous voice rang out calling to his nephew.
"Sabar Bulek, Istighfar" Khaira said to the woman who had begun to look gray in her hair. The next look was on a woman who was like no stranger in her mind.
Both are trapped in a time vortex that shackles. The woman wearing the black veil did not dare to greet the girl not far away from him being. Until someone's voice shakes his gaze, though,
"Ning." call Abah, immediately the gaze of Khaira and the woman who looks old looks to look at Abah in the doorway of Uncle Bonar's house.
Now Abah's gaze turned to look at the woman who had fifteen years left him and his daughter. Stunned, there was a sense of obstruction that burst out from the recesses of his heart. "Fathery?" abah was stunned to see the woman he married 23 years ago.
~
At Abah's house.
Cold, stiff and silent. That's the picture of the living room today. Abah and Purwasih did not look at each other, his eyes blankly staring straight into the painting.
"What are you coming for?" cynical Abah, on the thread of his question.
"I'm sorry.." That's all she could say, this middle-aged woman with a black hijab looked down not daring to stare at a man she left behind.
"Do you remember your son?" Abah asked in a flat voice.
"Really, for the fifteen years that I left you, I felt so guilty and sorry" Purwasih said in a raucous voice, the sad turmoil of his heart unstoppable.
Abah looked at the door of the house. Hearing the words of regret spoken by Purwasih made Abah laugh, certainly not a happy laughter but a very deep laughter of sadness.
"After fifteen years, you just said you're sorry now?" abah said cynically, his eyelids had started to collect puddles of tears.
Purwasih bowed shabby, guilt and regret indeed could not restore the warm atmosphere like before. He goes with his own selfishness. Purwasih understood that Khaira and Ahmad no longer accepted his existence.
Khaira, accompanied by Kevin, was in her room. Sit in front of a bed made of teak wood. Khaira was in disbelief for nearly sixteen years leaving her as well as Abah. Now the woman who had given birth to him back at the same time Uncle Bonar died.
Still with a gameless feeling, reopening the gaping wound scratches. The golden hands on the ends of the black clothes worn increasingly made him shabby in disarray. No crying nor saying, Khaira silent a thousand languages.
Kevin did not talk much, he continued to hold his wife who did not cry nor did he make a sound.
Looking at his wife's trembling hands, squeezing the ends of the clothes she was wearing. Makes Kevin understand that currently Khaira is feeling the dilemma of languishing like her when she met Papa Basuki. Kevin clasped his wife's trembling hand, his left hand raised his chin and looked from the bead look of Khaira's black eyes that were like a bow of an arrow. Now, Kevin saw something floating in Khaira's eyes and slowly dripping down his cheeks.
Khaira no longer held back the turmoil, becoming a tight feeling, increasingly bursting into sobbing cries.
"I no longer imagine her presence in my life. From childhood, all I knew was that I only had Abah. Now, after all the hard work we went through, suddenly there was a person called Mother? Am I dreaming. Is it the same as how Mas Kevin felt when he met Papa Basuki?" lirih Khaira. Tears rolled down her cheeks.
Kevin wiped the tears on his wife's cheek.
"I always imagined what it would be like to say Mom. I miss that. Until time freezes my heart. I no longer expected anything about Mom. There was Abah beside me enough." so softly that Khaira said, that it made her look very weak.
Kevin hugged Khaira again, and rubbed his wife's back. "You must be able to expand your heart, dear, and today is the lucky day you can meet him."
Khaira recalled what she had said while comforting Kevin. Khaira hugged her husband very tightly, then took a breath and exhaled him slowly.
Kevin saw Abah standing in the doorway.
Netra Abah looked at her crying daughter in silence. Makes her heart feel like teiris.
"Ning, meet your mother" said Abah, who saw Khaira bowing in Kevin's arms.
Khaira slowly raised her gaze, and catching the look on Abah's face, there was a streak of sadness engraved on Abah's wrinkled face. At Abah's request, Khaira tries to piece together the dark pieces of the past.
Sitting face to face, Khaira's heart pounded and her hands sweated. At first, the woman who had given birth seemed nervous in her speech. However, the longer, the story flows, like water that watered the contents inside Khaira's chest to make him feel increasingly tight.
"I'm sorry that I had to go, believe me, son, I have no intention of leaving you."
The middle-aged woman told her story. Starting from the first out of the house and leaving the husband and daughter alone puppet. Life is so difficult he went through in the country of people, to have to marry a man there to get protection so as not to get caught in a case of deportation. Purwasih recounted it with a sad feeling, staring at his daughter who was already a married adult girl.
"Shameful." Purwasih berates himself. "and, yes, this is why I didn't see you. I feel ashamed and inappropriate. I'm not a good parent to you. Especially when Mom once told your Abah, and your Abah has warned, if you can't meet let alone take you with Mom."
There was not a single word Khaira said. Khaira waited for the woman to continue her sentence.
"Mother is grateful, you grew up your Abah to be a good child. That's the reason Mom is no longer here, your Abah is very good and Mom as wife has let her down.” she explained gently.
Abah was silent sitting not far from Khaira and the woman who was actually still a wife, but Abah was not a little thought to re-knit the relationship that the distance as the sea stretched, Purwasih enough to incise the wound. Sitting together with Kevin, these two Men were busy in their respective daydreams.
"Mom's sorry that I got married again." Purwasih spoke again.
Hearing the confession of the Mother who had left him. It made Khaira feel like she was nailed to a wooden chair, feeling an odd feeling that filled her heart. "So this woman came just to say that she had another husband? After all this time abandoning her responsibilities as a mother?"
In his silence Khaira lowered her head, not only did he think of his disappointment. But also think of the feelings of Abah who has been betrayed so far by the woman Abah loved so much.
"Now, after Mother's husband died one year ago, I intend to return to the village and live not far from Bulek's house. So if you intend to stay with Mom, I'll be very happy. But, I'm not forcing you if you refuse. I've also heard that you're married in the City." in a dilemma, Purwasih still hopes that his daughter will open the door sorry for him. He now lives in the house he bought not far from his sister's house.
"Mother is truly sorry." The same sentence was either for how many times said from Purwasih's lips that he actually spoke from the bottom of his heart.
Suddenly there was silence between the mother and the child who had not met for a long time.
Still very long silent in awkwardness. Eventually, Khaira found her own voice floating in the air.
"Yes." his eyes started to cloud. "Khaira forgive... Mommy." Khaira caught Abah's movements looking towards her. Tears flowed down his cheeks, then fell onto the back of his hand on his lap.
"What did I say? Is this what it's like to say Mother?" mind churns.
And, Khaira felt something that was originally stuck in her throat slowly lift up, the longer it got lighter.
Purwasih was very happy after all this time, he again heard the voice of his little daughter. Then he walked over and embraced Khaira.
In the arms of the Mother, Khaira did not reply. There were only tears and sobs.
~~
Minutes after the woman Khaira called Mom left. Khaira was still sitting on the terrace, staring at the leaves of the mango tree with a yellow tinge starting to scatter in the yard of the house. Although he had already forgiven her, but Khaira knew his choice. Not to hurt the feelings of the mother who gave birth to him.
Khaira felt like she had just woken up from a long dream. He felt he needed time to bring it back, one by one. Married to Kevin, pregnancy, Uncle Bonar died, and his long-lost mother has now returned.
Kevin hugged his wife from behind, and whispered in Khaira's ear. "There is I who will always be there for you My Delf, be sincere. And feel our love is the best love because you have made my faith increase."
