Chapter 5: Flash Back

An irritated Xena immediately walked quickly to the back garden of the house she was in with Evan. He snorted repeatedly, even kicking the fallen leaves along the path he passed. He stopped near a bunch of colorful flowers, flowers he planted a few months ago, flowers that became his solace when Evan suddenly changed attitude to him.

Xena remembers the time when she was close to Evan, when they still did not know if they would be betrothed, her relationship and Evan were so good as friends.

Flashbacks

Xena's just coming home from the gallery. He saw Evan's car parked in front, a smile on his lips. The girl half ran over to Evan's car.

"Why can it be here?" xena asked, looking in through the car window.

"Pick you up for a meal together at papa's house, let's go in!" Evan smiled warmly at Xena. Ask the girl to get in the car.

Evan had indeed several times to pick Xena up because their family was very close, the girl lived alone in the same city as Evan, Hari-sang papa left him to Dimitri, a friend of his late wife.

When he reached Evan's house, Xena was surprised to see his car.

"Why is papa here?"

"Maybe just visit as usual" Evan replied casually.

They went down together and went inside, and rightly found that Hari was there, the man was sitting quietly with Dimitri. The two middle-aged men were happy to see the closeness of Evan and Xena.

"So there's actually something we want to say."

Xena and Evan were quite surprised by Dimitri's words. They sat down and prepared to hear what the man was about to say.

"So, actually before Fatma died, we had agreed to match you. So, maybe this is a good time to deliver, see if your relationship seems very close and good." Dimitri conveyed what became his agreement and late mama Xena in front of Hari—ayah Xena.

Xena was surprised but a second later a small smile appeared on her face, of course the girl was happy to remember that Evan was very good, and she liked him.

However, Evan does not seem to agree with the Papa. He looked surprised and unhappy.

After Dimitri said that he would match Evan with Xena. Evan began to keep a little distance from Xena, no longer even pick up as often as before the match was revealed.

Like that day, Evan accompanied Xena to attend a painting exhibition, of course the man wanted to come because there was an intention conveyed.

Xena was so surprised to hear Evan's question, that she looked to her right and left before asking, "What's wrong? Why should I be rejected?"

Evan looked confused, as if he wanted to say something but he said nothing. "Forget it!"

Evan has a girlfriend named Jihan, a selebgram and model. Maybe this is what makes Evan object to the matchmaking.

Xena herself feels strange about Evan's attitude, but tries to ignore and think positively about the man.

After the exhibition. Evan immediately looks for Dimitri in the workspace, of course, the intention of meeting the father to ask to cancel his match with Xena.

"Can't! Anyway Papa wants you to marry Xena. If you do not agree or refuse, then you will not get any position in the company, even if you need Papa scribbled from the inheritance list!"

Evan was so surprised by Dimitri's threat, he clenched his palms next to his body, eventually even though Evan had to agree to marry. She slightly hated Xena, could it be that her kindness had all this time been considered the girl's feeling of love?

Xena and Evan's wedding was lively, many business partners and friends were present. Xena is so happy because Evan looks to keep smiling, indicating that the man is happy to marry her.

However, Xena did not expect that their first night made Evan change completely, from a friendly and warm man, to rough and cold. Even Xena did not expect that Evan would say a sentence that really hurt her.

“I will never consider you a wife, for me you are nothing more than a doll to get my papa treasure, and keep this in your brain! I'm just a fake husband for you.”

Xena tried to accept Evan's treatment, until she said in her heart that she would not be a weak girl who was easily oppressed. Xena looked at Evan's back, the man was contacting someone.

"Just calm down, baby. You know that he's just a tool for me to get my papa's treasure, of course my love is only for you. So, you don't worry that I'll turn away."

Xena heard clearly how Evan spoke, a smile full of ridicule and a glint of Evan's eyes showed if the man wanted to show that he was nobody.

"Huh, isn't it sad to feel love clapping one hand?"

Evan deliberately turned his head to Xena as he said the sentence, one corner of his lips was pulled upwards, he deliberately satirized the girl's feelings.
