Dreams of a Poor Girl

Dreams of a Poor Girl
Chapter 28

After several hours of travel, Zulfa had already arrived in front of his house. He looked around the house, the atmosphere was still the same as it was three years ago.

He stepped to the door and knocked.

Tok tok tok tok

"Assalamualaikum! Brother, I'm home" said Zulfa.

"Waalaikumsalam, one minute!" sahut Zahra's.

The sound of the house keys playing, and the door opened.

"Dad! Why didn't you say you were coming home? Brother could ask Mas Amir to pick you up."

"That's okay, brother. Poor thing, Mas Amir must be tired if he has to pick me up."

"Yes, come in first! Let's make some tea."

"Yes, Brother."

Zulfa followed her brother's steps into the house, she headed to her room to put down the items she was carrying.

He took a towel and a change of clothes in the closet, Zulfa decided to take a shower because her body felt sultry.

"Drink the tea, Dek!" zahra said as he passed Zulfa.

"Yes, Brother." Zulfa drank her brother's tea to quench her thirst.

After drinking her tea, Zulfa went straight to the bathroom. After taking a bath, Zulfa caught up with her brother who was busy in the kitchen.

"Aren't you having lunch for Mas Amir?" ask Zulfa while helping Zahra clean the vegetables.

"Today Mas Amir had lunch at home, so Brother didn't go to the workshop."

It was not without reason that Zulfa asked like that, she simply did not want her brother to know if she was taking any medicine.

"You eat first, keep resting! Must be tired of long trips."

"Yes, Brother."

Not wanting to waste the opportunity, Zulfa went straight to the dining table to pick up food. She seemed to be enjoying her food, the food she had always longed for, her brother's cooking.

After he finished eating, he washed the dishes, then he took a glass of water to take to his room.

"I'm resting in my room, yeah, brother!" pamit Zulfa's.

"Yes, Deck."

Zulfa rushed to her room, not forgetting she locked the door so no one would come in.

Once in the room, Zulfa opened her sling bag to pick up the medicine. He opened one pack of the medicine and took it.

After taking the medicine, Zulfa laid her body on the bed. Not a good mattress, but comforting Zulfa. Before long Zulfa had flown to dreamland, probably due to the effects of the drugs he drank, until he quickly fell asleep.

"Assynnya!"

"Waalaikimsalam! Are you home, Mom? Do you eat or want to pray first?" ask Zahra

"So I saw Zulfa's sandals, did he come home, Dek?" asked Amir at the dinner table.

"Already, Mas. Not long ago at home, he also just rested after eating."

"Don't you call to pick me up?"

"You know for yourself Zulfa is a stubborn child, fitting asked why you must feel sorry you must be tired if you have to pick him up."

"Well, when am I so stubborn?"

"It is evident that the night says above will not," seduced Amir.

"What the hell are you, Mom? Even slamming everywhere" elak Zahra with blushing cheeks.

Indeed, every husband and wife relationship, Zahra does not want if in the top position. The reason was because of embarrassment, Amir repeatedly persuaded but Zahra remained tight-lipped with his stance.

Tok tok tok tok

"Sir, why is the door locked?" ask Zahra from the outside.

"Attep, Brother!" sahut Zulfa rushed to open the door.

After the door opened, Zahra immediately entered the room.

"Tumben really ngunci door, usually never," Zahra boasted an intimidating look.

"Sorry, Brother. The habit of time at the boarding house must be the key to the room door," replied Zulfa while scratching his head that did not itch.

And while staring at his sister, Zahra accidentally saw the medicine on Zulfa's desk. He immediately took the medicine and asked his sister.

"What medicine is this?"

"I-it's not medicine, brother. That's my vitamin because I often overtime for work tasks, so I take vitamins so not easily tired," said Zulfa.

"Are they just vitamins? Why 3 packs?"

"Oh, that's a supplement to keep the immune system."

"Yes, the bath hunt! Mas Amir will come home" asked Zahra, giving Zulfa the medicine in his hand.

"Yes, Brother." Zulfa put the medicine in the bag.

While behind the house, Zahra was still thinking about the medicine. He felt familiar with the medicine, but he forgot where he had seen the same medicine as Zulfa's.

"Dad!" call Amir and touch Zahra's shoulder.

Zahra who was still thinking about the medicine, immediately jumped when her husband was behind her.

"Mas! How can I not hear your motorcycle?"

"What are you daydreaming about? I greet from earlier no one answered, it was also boiling water not turned off the stove."

"Astaghfirullah, yes I forgot!" Zahra went straight to the kitchen to turn off the stove.

However, when in the kitchen it turns out the stove is dead.

"What are you thinking, Dek? You don't usually think of it, either" asked Amir and offered Zahra a glass of drinking water.

Zahra received the water and immediately gulped it down until half was left. He told Amir what he was thinking.

"Maybe it was true what Zulfa said, he must have been very busy with his college assignments. That's why he took the vitamin" Amir said after hearing Zahra's explanation.

"Yes, Mas. But why does it feel like there's still something stuck, I'm like no stranger to the drug."

"Already, yeah. You'd better think positive, not just because of your presumption, Zulfa so uncomfortable at home."

"Yes, Mum."

Without them noticing, Zulfa had overheard the conversation. She cried withholding tightness in her chest for having to lie to her brother.

"I'm sorry, brother. I was forced to do this because I didn't want to see my sad brother" Zulfa muttered and returned to his room.
