Comforter Woman

Comforter Woman
The Part 25

Fanny leaned her hips against the edge of the kitchen table. la pondered while waiting for her soup to boil. This day he had been trying to find out what made Cam grieve, but did not manage to get a piece of information. Some of the housemaids she met were reluctant to comment and chose to dodge, instead answering her curiosity.

Aunt Brown pretended not to hear when Fanny asked who Fiona was. Like her, everyone in this compact house hides it. Maybe Fanny just moved too fast. Of course, he's a new person in this house. he won't be able to get information because he hasn't been trusted.

Instead of busy thinking about uncertain problems, Fanny better continue her work. Didn't he promise to get Cullen Skink and Black Pudding ready for dinner? It just so happened that he found a box of Black Pudding in the fridge so there was no need to go out to buy it.

Fanny heard a noise from the front door. Is anyone coming? Maybe Cam. If it's a guest, he'll have to ring the bell first. Aunt Brown and her other maids have gone home so only Fanny is there.

"Good thing dinner's ready." Fanny releases the apron and puts a pot of soup on the dinner table.he is about to go ahead to greet Cam, but the man shows up first. The man is not alone. Cam went home with his friend, Austin Carter.

"Hi, Miss Blair! We meet again. You still remember me?" Austin's super splashy hand made Fanny blink. Cam rolled his eyeballs behind his back.

"of course. You are Mr. Carter." Fanny lowered her head politely. Austin knows who he is so there's no need for a show.

"Call me Austin. Now we're close friends." Cam restrains Austin's shoulder which looks like he's about to get close to Fanny. "Please give me your hand or I'll kick you out of this house."

"I knew. You're really possessive." Austin smiled at Fanny. "I hope I'm not interrupting."

"You're so annoying."

"No."

Cam and Fanny looked at each other as they said different answers simultaneously. Fanny's cheeks blushed when she looked at Cam, jolting her attention in the other direction. Fanny cursed in her heart. Now even looking into Cam's eyes for too long he couldn't.

"Evening is ready. As promised, I'm cooking Cullen Skink."

Cam's eyes widened. Fanny really made it?

The warm response was precisely indicated by Austin. "Cool.. You cook for Cam? Well, you're really the ideal wife." Fanny doesn't know how to get back at him. Being the wife of someone has never been on her wish list since choosing this illegal job. He could only flutter and accept the compliment as mere entertainment. He glanced at Cam who did not comment. His expression was illegible.

Cam sitting in a chair. Cam is already in the stage of enjoying the slices of fruit that Fanny prepared. They chatted while enjoying dinner.

"I didn't really want to invite her, but she insisted. He said he wanted to interview you" Cam told Fanny.

"Miss Blair works for me, it's only natural that I talk to her" Austin said.

"Work on you? Oh...." Fanny nodded in understanding. Cam told Aunt Bell that she was a secretary. So, it's not just talk? "Do I really have to work?" ask Fanny.

"Like it is. I'm glad I'm happy. We can meet often" replied Austin enthusiastically.

"Fanny didn't really do her," Cam interrupted sharply.

"You said he was my employee." Austin blinked innocently. Actually, he was just kidding. He enjoys too much of his pleasure teasing Cam.

"I'm just telling you to say it if anyone asks." Cam turned his face with a brush. Austin nodded lightly then sipped the soup scrumptiously. "It's so delicious. You can be on my list of my dream wife candidates."

Cam clenched his hands. Fanny who was unaware Austin was trying to provoke Cam's jealousy, calmly commented. "Like her it's impossible. I'm tied to Cam right now."

Cam's gaze shifted on Fanny. The man stared without a word.

"I knew. Therefore, I'm somewhat sorry why it wasn't me who chose you. Cam was lucky to get you." Again for the second time, Fanny's cheeks heated up. If it can be added, he is even more lucky to be chosen by Cam.

"You mean, you really want to have a mistress too? Your mother will kill you. Besides, instead of playing games, why haven't you been married until now?" add Cam.

"The same question I asked you, especially since Fiona...." Austin pursed his lips.he stopped him at the most important moment.

Austin must not forget that bringing up Cam's past will only reopen wounds that have not healed. Fanny grumbled in her heart because she failed to get the info that made her curious. He was waiting for her vigilantly. He secretly glanced at Cam. His face light dimmed. Cam looks grim. Actually, what weight is the burden on Cam?

From that story, Fanny knows why Cam's appearance before her looks geeky and ordinary. It was done for the sake of making her not look attractive in the eyes of women, especially women who are paired. Is it possible that every time they meet, Cam just finished attending a blind date? Ironically, Fanny is attracted to Cam because of his conventional appearance.

Throughout the chat, Cam only responded in his voice. He seemed to think of something and Fanny did not dare to bertanya. Cam immediately went to his study as soon as Austin came home. After finishing cleaning the dining table and kitchen, Fanny brought a glass of milk for Cam.

Fanny took a breath. If his job was to stay at home and prepare meals, he would not feel himself a mistress anymore, other than a maid or perhaps a wife.

You fantasize again. Fanny nags herself.

***

Cam's not in his workspace. If it's not there, another possibility is in his room. His guess is right. Fanny meets Cam on the veranda of the room. He stands upright with a look forward, lost in thought. Her sad face somehow made Fanny slashed, she was curious, what Cam thought, or who.

"You have a beautiful smile. Never forget to show it to the world."

Fiona's melodious words echoed in Cam's silence, as if she heard him directly. However, Cam knew it was just a memory he would not be able to replay. The shadow of that day, will not be forgotten. Cam can't possibly forget the day when she and Fiona officially became his wives. The happiness he felt was truly immeasurable and their ten months of marriage were the most beautiful.

Fiona is firm-minded, hard-working, and also stubborn, but also cheerful and fond. Despite her beautiful looks and rich family background, Cam still loves her. Fiona wants to be a director. Cam supported her wholeheartedly. Their marriage feels perfect as Fiona conceives their first child. Cam loves Fiona.

Cam's confidence in the happiness that will continue to last is dashed when the accident claimed the lives of Fiona and her unborn fetus. He could never forgive himself for causing Fiona's death. Cam is like a broken glass in pieces. For the umpteenth time he was in residence and for the umpteenth time he also returned to live alone.

As if God had not been satisfied to overflow misfortune to him, since that day he continued to be haunted by nightmares every night. Guilt snatches away her smile and solitude dumps her trust in love. Cam doesn't allow himself to be happy. For whom is he happy? he has no one.

Even if I don't exist, promise to be happy. Fiona's voice echoed through Cam's head, making him close his eyes.

What if I can't?

If not for me, then for yourself.

I can't. Fiona, I'm sorry!

"Muffin, are you okay?"

Cam was sober. The reverie is rippling. Fiona's voice vanished and was replaced by a familiar voice. In the doorway that separated the veranda with her room stood Fanny Blair. The girl held a glass of milk in her right hand. Her face looks worried.

This time Cam felt guilty. In order to escape the shackles of the nightmare, Cam accidentally seeks out a paid lover and Fanny has become a victim of her dissatisfaction. If he does his on his real call woman, he doesn't have to feel guilty. But Fanny is different. Although Cam gets her from the brothel, Fanny's heart is still plain and pure. Cam feels really bad for having dragged Fanny into his bleak life.

"There's nothing." Cam turned his eyes. "I know Muffin's lying." Fanny Young gives up the milk glass on Cam's hand. "Drink away. It might make you feel better."

Cam didn't drink it straight away. He looked at the glass instead. Fanny's warm hand held her arm gently.

"I don't know what Muffin's worried about. But don't be sad, am I not here? Being where you lean is also part of my job."

Something whirred, flowed, and shook Cam's heart. Fanny's kindness and attention are a heartbreaking sting in the heart. Cam realizes he can't take advantage of Fanny any longer. His desire to escape the shackles of a torturous past failed already.

Sorry, Fiona. I try to be happy. But without your presence, I can't. I want to forget you too, but I can't do it.

"Thank you" Cam muttered as he stared at the milk glass in his hand. "And Fanny, tonight we can't sleep together." Fanny stunned. "Why?" ask her gamang.

"I want to be alone. You can use the room across from this room."

Cam looked away and Fanny realized she had been kicked out of this room. The girl nodded in understanding, then left without a sound.

After Fanny, Cam smiled bitterly. Cowardly. You ran away again. You just don't want the girl to see you in a state of brewing right.
