It had been half a day since Estrid left the village for the mines. That night Herka was so worried about the state of the woman who had been her guest for several days. The next day because still worried two intend to see the state of mining.
But afraid that on the road meet the snow wolf, Herka also intends to bring someone to come with her. The old woman asked Hektor to accompany her to check on Estrid's condition in the mine.
At first Hektor felt hesitant and intended to refuse because he was currently preparing a plan to rebuild the bridge with the villagers.
But after Sania persuaded Hektor, the man was willing to go to the mine with several villagers including Herka and Sani.
Five people came out of the village towards the mining area, on the way they found an area filled with black liquid. Previously that area was where Thunder Rooster was killed.
“The blood of the fifth Draugher.” instantly knows that the black liquid that splattered all over the area was Draugher's blood.
“Isn't this too much? Can you imagine how much Draugher became like this.” said one resident after seeing the place almost completely closed by black liquid
“Maybe 30 or 50?.” replied the other villagers.
Everyone thought about what was really going on in that place, why there was so much Draugher blood. Some of the possibilities they thought until Herka remembered if Draugher had a smell resistant to blood.
“Sania do you want to bury Thunder Rooster's blood splattered in the snow?.” asked Herka. Hearing that Sania was extremely shocked as if she had just remembered something so important.
“Ahaha... sorry the village chief seems to have forgotten.” reply Sania with a dry laugh. In response Herka immediately hit the woman's head with her cane. “Basic sloppy girl, you almost made the village attacked by a herd of zombies!.”
“Ueeee... I'm sorry village chief...” Sania did not dodge the mistake she had made, she knew that if it was close to causing a major disaster to the village.
After making sure the place was completely safe from the smell of blood, the group went back on their way to the journey.
Not a single Draugher corpse was left making everyone think that Estrid was the one who fought the Draugher horde, because in the village only the woman had dimensional storage capabilities.
‘Did Estrid defeat all monsters while heading to the mines? But why did he not return to the village to report?.’ question after question bothered everyone's mind.
Not long after that they arrived at the mine. The two pet snow wolves Estrid welcomed their arrival at the entrance of the cave.
Woof woof....
“Oh see who two good kids are guarding this place, hum?.” Sania toyed with the two wolves before finally asking for Estrid's whereabouts.
With the payment of dried meat, the wolves then show the location of the dugout where Estri has disappeared for a dozen hours.
Everyone stared at each other looking at such a strange hole. Three meters high and two meters wide, the new path looked like it had not been dug by human hands.
So neatly formed a perfect box as if the person who dug it using a special tool, because it is impossible for ordinary humans to produce such excavations.
Then more confusing there is not the slightest trace of excavation such as stoic or stone. It was as if someone was digging up the ground by removing it.
The residents only knew so far that the mining was only used by Grock. They had thought if the Dwarf was the one who made the strange hole.
But that conjecture was soon refuted after seeing a wall of holes that still felt freshly dug while Grock had not been actively mining for three years.
Alaska and Pluto entered the hole first. They kept sniffing the smell of Estrid. Seeing if the hole was safe then Hektor led the group inside.
After walking for an hour they started to get tired, the heat inside the cave caused dehydration. The thought of stopping down the aisle grew stronger, plus they did not know whether the passageway had an end or not.
But seeing the two wolves continuing to sniff out Estrid's whereabouts made them believe continuing downwards was the best option. Until they finally arrived at such a spacious room, several large columns stood in the middle with etched light runes.
Hektor suggested to rest for a while in this place. While the women rested, Hektor and two residents checked the state of the room. They did not know what made the digger of the hallway make a room that big, until one of the residents found something.
“Waaaa!.” suddenly the villagers were screaming making everyone turn their attention to her.
“What happened?.” asked Hektor who looked so alert.
“I... This is...” with the shaking body of the villagers showed something in his palm which was a yellowish chunk of stone.
“““Gold?.””” says everyone in unison except Herka who doesn't seem to care about the gold found. The old woman was still worried about Estrid's existence.
The discovery of gold made them spend longer in the room. The longer they search for they find various valuable materials such as silver, crystal, and much more.
Getting Karun's treasure made them want to stay in the room longer, but Herka immediately asked Hektor to resume the search.
“Everything you get will be useless if it cannot be used, you know not if at this time our village is isolated?.”
As if struck by lightning, everyone was shocked to hear Herka's words. Being too happy to get gold made them forget that the only road connecting the village today is still damaged which means all the gold they find is impossible to sell to the city.
Seeing that the four had difficulty removing all the gold they had found, Herka suggested carrying the gold as necessary while the rest was hidden somewhere. The four took Herka's advice.
The journey resumed. Three hundred meters away from the room full of precious materials there is a pond filled with water that is so cold. Everyone immediately removed the sense of necessity that they were enduring by drinking the pool water. The heat from the tunnel made the cold water feel so fresh.
Back down, the hallway that was originally just straight down was now a bit meandering as if there was something that the digger could not break. Along the way, they also found several ruined pickaxes.
Until finally after traveling an hour and a half down the stairs they saw the end of the hallway. From a distance shone such a bright light, as soon as they climbed it they found themselves in the middle of a flower field that was emitting light.
“What is this like I think?.” asked Hektor.
“Maybe..” Herka answered uncertainly.
“No this is definitely not the wrong sunlight we need.” replied Sania full of confidence.
They were fascinated by the beauty of the place until one of them realized there was a woman lying on a flower field.
“Estrid!.” Herka and the two snow wolves immediately approached Estrid, the old woman feeling relieved after learning that Estrid was currently only asleep. Hektor and Sania then approached and asked if it was necessary to wake Estrid up.
“No, let him rest. He must have worked so hard.” said Herka who realized both palms of Estrid was injured with skin peeled off.
