"Look at her attitude to you! Mama's still confused why do you still want to hang on with her?!" Herra expressed her frustration to Hanna but in a very slow voice.
Hanna was silent not replying to the words of the mother. His gaze was blank, not not not noticing Alicia who was playing a doll on his lap.
"You better leave her and marry your friend" Herra continued.
Hanna turned to look at Herra.
"Mama wants to sell me? That's what Mama meant?"
"But we can live a decent life if you're willing to marry her. I'm tired of living like this, when?"
"Don't talk recklessly Mah, if Barra hears it he can drive us away and we'll be vagrants."
Herra laughed at the words of her son.
"We've become Hanna's badass, just one step away from being a vagabond."
Hanna is back.
"Don't you want us to live as well as we used to? You don't want to go shopping, spa or vacation?" Herra began to shed her tears recalling the times when they still had everything.
"Mama's tired of Hanna... Mama can't live like this much longer... Mama could not stand. " continued Herra while holding her so that she could not be heard by the other residents of the house.
"Look at our clothes now," Herra looked at herself with a sliced look.
"Mommy used to touch a cloth like this just didn't want to," Herra recalled as she sobbed again.
"What about Alicia?"
"Why Alicia? Doesn't Barra hate him now? He has no future in this place?"
Hanna was silent again. Everything her mother said was true. Alicia won't get a decent life if she stays with Barra. But he also did not want to if he had to marry a man whose age was far from him, even arguably grandparents.
Hanna seemed to think. Perhaps this was indeed the only way for him to return to a decent life. His career as a social media artist has been ruined since Affandi was in prison.
"I'm no longer what I used to be Mah ... Look at my face now, I'm ugly and dull. Mama's friend still wants to marry me?" Hanna smiled wryly as she stared blankly ahead.
Hanna's words make Herra realize that Hanna is not as beautiful as before. The one sitting in front of him right now was just an ordinary woman with a curly appearance with tangled hair and a negligent negligence.
There was nothing he could be proud of anymore. His once glowing face was now dark and dull. Let alone for treatment in the salon, buy face cream sold in the stall only he can not afford. The clothes are now only used clothes that are sold in the market. Grateful she could still eat because Widia gave her money from the proceeds from withdrawing the boarding money. He also used it for shopping for daily necessities.
"Hanna..!!!" Barra shouted to his name. Hanna immediately handed Alicia over to Herra's lap and came to Barra.
"What's up?!"
"Make me coffee!"
Hanna didn't immediately do Barra's orders. He just stood up and looked at the man with a cold look. The man who had saved her from the disgrace of her pregnancy, now plunged her into the abyss of misery.
"Why just stand there? And why are you looking at me like that?!" Barra turned towards Hanna.
"We're out of coffee!" hanna answered coldly.
"Buy in the shop there! Just have to tell!!" barra snapped while slamming the finished coffee cup in front of Hanna.
"I know that, but where's the money?!" hanna replied that she did not lose the sewot. "Everybody needs Barra's money! Don't just sit around and ask to be served if you don't have money! Find work!!!"
"Who do you think you dare to say that to me?!"
"I'm your wife Barra. Like it or not, I am still your wife, so you have an obligation to support me and my son!"
"If I don't want to?!"
"Then I'll ask for a divorce!!"
Barra smiled cynically at Hanna's reply.
"Where would you like to live if you were divorced from me? What do you want to eat? You and your mother have absolutely no ability!"
"Did you think there's another woman who wants to be with you besides me?! Remember Barra, you already have nothing, and one more thing..you are barren too!!! You should be thankful that I still want to accept you!!"
Barra further tightened her grip until Hanna grimaced in pain. He wanted to say something but nothing came out of his mouth.
"Change Barra. I don't want us to be like this forever ..."
Barra released her grip from Hanna's hand after hearing Hanna's sentence. He rubbed his face rough.
"Are you going to be like this forever?! Don't turn me on for the destruction of your life! It's both your fault and yours! Don't put it all on me like I'm the only one who has a hand in the destruction of all of our lives!"
"Plakk... !!!" One slap landed on Hanna's cheek. Hanna was no longer grimacing in pain because she was getting used to it. "Silence you woman don't know yourself!"
"Sound Barra ... Now I do depend on you because I have no place to live! But if your attitude continues like this I can leave you!"
Barra smiled cynically.
"Try it if you dare. Let's see what you're gonna be!"
"I'm sick of Barra! I've been trying to survive with you in the worst of circumstances like this but you still treat me like an animal! I don't care if I have to prostitute to be able to support Alicia, the important thing is that I'm not with you!" reply Hanna with the remaining courage.
Barra looked stunned hearing Hanna's sentence. She did not expect Hanna to be that serious. She thought Hanna was just bluffing her.
"One more Barra, lest you regret it later! Because if I leave, you'll be alone taking care of your sick mother! Enjoy your old days in loneliness because no woman would want to be with a rude man like you!"
Hanna ran to her room. He packed his things that were not much and then he met his mother.
"We get out of here Ma, I can't take it anymore! Pack Mama's things" said Hanna, pulling Alicia from her mother's arms.
"Where are we going, Hanna?"
"No idea, what matters is we're not in this house anymore. Hurry up Ma, if Barra sees that she can beat me up" Hanna said, peeking out the window.
"Maybe you're right, I'm getting married to your friend. So a serial wife, mistress, or third wife doesn't matter. Or Mama wants to sell me to a pimp, I don't care! What matters is that we don't suffer anymore."
Herra smile. Hurry up and pack his things.
"Mama's glad your mind's finally open."
"I'll look forward to whether Barra is still there or not."
Eventually Hanna and Herra take Alicia away from the house. I don't know what they're going to do to survive, which obviously they don't want to deal with Barra anymore.
Barra is Barra. He could never learn from his experience and his stupidity. He releases the woman who may be the last woman to stand by him, even if forced.
