Zombies
14: Rules

"Sir, you lived here for 24 hours, ntar if you have, you can go out, continue to do data collection."

One of the soldiers who kindly carried Nanda, told her softly as she lowered her.

They were currently in a prison-like room. A long hallway, with iron bars on the right and left tells that this is an isolation room. Several people were seen inside the prison, sitting listlessly or some chatting with each other. Each prison room, leaving only a small room that was 3 meters wide, was obviously only to place one or two people each.

Nanda did not mind being taken to this place at all. He was silent, according to when the soldiers put him in jail and locked the door.

No. .. he was not imprisoned at all. Nanda knew the soldiers were doing the right thing. They simply isolated, seeing if the migrants were exposed to the virus or not. If being locked up for 24 hours does not make them show signs of being zombies, then they can enter the base.

It's just a precaution and protection measure, something that's right to do. That's why Nanda did not feel angry or worried because he was suddenly led to prison.

Oh, he only needed to last for 24 hours, so without hesitation, Nanda took off her backpack and lay down on the cold floor to sleep ...

Well ... keep running and jumping like a monkey loose, also need energy. He also had to rearrange his room. So, Nanda lightly lay down and closed her eyes. With the mental strength of looking at the contents of his room, he began to compile all the things inside without having to go into his room.

Klang's!

The sound of the iron door being pushed successfully opened Nanda's eyes. The woman glanced to the side, discovering that a shabby young man was brought out from inside the prison in a state of unconsciousness. The soldiers carrying him also vigilantly covered the man's mouth with plaster before carrying him like a sack of rice, then exited the prison.

Nanda blinked a few times, staring at the pulling soldiers who were working quickly. Some of the Soldiers also turned their heads towards him, watching a cold glance-before finally turning their faces away.

Such a sharp, dark and emotionless look of the eyes, was clearly the sight of people accustomed to murder and death. Those merciless figures who would not be moved by anything and would only judge something rationally or even like a machine that would only move do commands.

Nanda was clear about people like this. Over time, when the strongest will survive, the number of people like this will increase. Life will be harder and competition tougher and cruel.

A pair of eyes closed again. Nanda, this time do not rearrange the room. Instead, he secretly thought of his best friend, Isabella Yulis.

Yulis was in this city, that was why Nanda madly stepped on the gas and chose to go to this city in hopes, also being able to meet Yulis and her son. This was the biggest reason he did not hesitate to enter the base. The hope that his best friend is still alive is huge ...

Nanda's eyebrows are adrift. It was as incredible as squeezing his heart. Sick and uncomfortable when many of the butterfly effects have occurred - ruining the destiny he knows.

In her old life, Luna dropped out of High School, but in this life, Luna did not drop out of school. Alex who was supposed to go to college, actually entered the TNI. Yulis, both then and now, remains the same. He followed Nanda, taking the University that was in this city, not outside the city.

Then for the King ...

Long ago, the King went to the Police test, but in this life, the King followed Luna. Entered an overseas university and the two were never heard from again.

Things have been fruitful and not on the path that Nanda knows. All in all, something is changing for the better, or even for the worse. But Nanda's only regret is Alex.

The smiling man died last year, much sooner than he chose to become a student and businessman. At least, Alex in his past life died while protecting Yulis. But in this life ... Alex leaves sooner, leaving behind Yulis whom he has just married a few months and her unborn baby ...

Now Yulis is a single mother. Nanda's original plan was to brush off all the treasures while searching for Yulis' whereabouts. But who would have thought that he would fall asleep for a long time? He did not know how Yulis and his son were. Even his parents ...

However Yulis was the wife of an Army veteran, her safety would obviously be prioritized. Moreover, she is a mother with a small toddler. Unfortunately, that treatment only applies when Yulis is found by the army. When his best friend is found by another group? Or maybe ... Yulis and her son did not survive?

Clangs!

"Wake up."

Nanda opened her eyes again. Easily, he saw a female soldier standing outside the bars. Clearly deliberately making a fuss to wake him up.

Nanda stared for a few seconds, then the body changed its position. He sat down, staring at the foreign woman with a look.

As if accustomed to such a gaze, the Woman ignored Nanda. His face was still expressionless as he opened the locked door.

"Well, 24 hours, you can get out now."

The female voice was very firm, as if it had no room to negotiate anything. Nanda did not dispute the unfriendly attitude. Without saying anything, he stood up. Grabbing the backpack and wearing it, then walking behind the female army that led him.

Both of them came out of a dilapidated one-story building made as a prison, leading to a large skyscraper that stood firmly like a strong pillar. It was a luxury Mall as well as an apartment that Nanda desperately wanted to loot.

Unfortunately, he did not have that intention back.

Climbing the stairs one by one towards the wide-open glass door, a pair of hazel found a large Hall, with many people passing by. Oh, had the people not dressed up and the soldiers were wandering around, Nanda would have thought this was the Mall on a holiday. Dense activity and crowded by voices. But unfortunately, the expression of every person he passed through was not as lively as the existence of that crowd.

Everyone had a gloomy, gloomy face and did something without a smile. A look of wary people looking at the surroundings, as if afraid that someone would steal their treasures. Even small children who are playing, seem to try not to cause a commotion. Not running around or trying to be noisy as if knowing that they have to hold back if they want to be treated well.

Shops that were supposed to contain certain items, now occupied by several people. Not according to its function, each store bulkhead becomes a place where people of different ages gather together, sit on a thin layer of fabric or even lie on the marble floor directly.

Most people in the Hall were thin, seedy and dirty. Definitely malnourished. But Nanda pretended not to notice them. Just a quick glance, but enough to see the despair of these people.

"Sir, what date is it?" nanda asked, finally opening his voice when the soldier who drove him seemed to not want to explain anything.

The soldier glanced briefly at Nanda, then looked back to the front. "20 March."

March 20 ... Is this already March?! Oh my goodness .. he slept for 3 weeks instead of 2 weeks?! Nanda is really syock. Mind crumpled. Yet his feet still stepped following the soldier with a flat expression, as if unaffected by the information he had just obtained.

3 weeks ... How's Mama doing? He left the woman alone in a tightly locked house. By leaving behind plenty of food and letters, Nanda believes the Goddess will awaken as a power user. After all, the woman's own physique tends to be strong and she is also strict so that her mother does not consume rainwater. Nanda also believes that the first thing Ganesha does when he realizes something is wrong is to look for him at home. That's why he had no problem leaving his mother.

But still .. 3 weeks lost, Nanda could imagine how crazy Ganesha would look for him. Indeed, many years together, Nanda was well aware of Ganesha's attitude. The man does look cute, but is actually very considerate and even tends to be possessive. Even when Nanda gets together to take care of the club he makes, Ganesha will tend to get restless. Oh, if it wasn't for her husband, Nanda was sure Ganesha would always be with her for club activities.

Well ... never mind. Rice has become porridge, he will still pass the original plan. Let Ganesha fire a beard, occasionally drive her husband crazy is also sometimes necessary.

The two walked past the Hall, then climbed up from the stairs towards the second floor. When Nanda saw the atmosphere on the 2nd floor, he blinked a few times.

In contrast to the gloomy 1st floor, the 2nd floor tends to be crowded and really lively. Several soldiers roamed around, but many civilians formed groups to discuss and chat with each other. In fact almost all areas, as far as Nanda's eyes could see, people rolled out cloths and peddled their belongings.

It's very market-like, but unfortunately Nanda doesn't stop here. The female soldier took her to the 3rd floor area.

The 3rd floor area looks a little quieter. Here some civilians formed a queue line for several shops that had been transformed into offices. Several planks inscribed with each function are displayed in several areas on the 3rd floor.

Where to rent rooms and selling areas, where to register jobs outside the walls, where to register jobs inside the walls, exchange places, etc.

The 3rd floor completely turned into an office area where all things management. Then the female soldiers took Nanda to the registration area. There, the queue is not too long.

"Thank you" Nanda said as she watched the woman leave. The figure only turned his head, nodded briefly, then completely turned to leave.

Nanda did not dispute that behavior. He was still focused on waiting in line while paying attention to the surroundings. Especially, the people who are in line with him and are ahead there.

Many people who have done the registration, will ask if there is a name of their relatives. Beautiful women who become customer service say that as long as they pay, they will try to find the name of the pile of data to check whether or not there are people who are sought on this base.

Many give up on that. Choose to turn around and look for their own family by surrounding the base area.

"Hello, can you name the full name, age, and status?" the registration woman sitting behind the computer desk said kindly, ready to type to input data.

"Ananda Sartika, 16 years old, student."

A typing sound rang out, then a few seconds later, the woman handed him a piece of cardboard the size of a business card that had been printed and given a stamp to him. There's a barcode on that sheet of paper.

"This is your identity, for more information, please walk to the information section," he pointed to an area where several tables were neatly arranged with people seen explaining things to the newcomers.

Nanda approached the place and found an empty table. He sat there and was greeted by a friendly old man.

"Hello, may I see your identity card?"

Nanda unhesitatingly handed it over and the figure scanned his card. Beep's voice rang out and he could guess that his identity was plastered behind the computer screen.

"Ananda huh?" Nanda nodded. "Because I just entered the base today, I'll just explain right away."

"For immigrants, geratis food is only given for the first 2 days, only for breakfast and dinner. After 2 days, food should be paid by points. To earn points, you work or exchange the items you have to the redemption section. For the residence, there is an area under the 1st floor and a furious basemant, you can take care of it on the 1st floor with the soldiers on duty. They'll take you to an empty area. But if you want a better place, there's a room that pays a day, you can take care of it there, the rental part."

The old man pointed in one direction where several people were seen queuing long.

"Is there a question?"

The man ended his brief explanation, giving Nanda room to ask. Without a doubt, he asked something he wanted to know.

"I'm looking for my brother, where's the area to look for someone?" oh, it would be very strange if he claimed to be Yulis' best friend right?

"You can ask me, I'll search the data in our database, but you have to pay 10 points."

"If I don't have any points?"

"You can exchange for 2kg rice."

It would be very strange if in his bag had rice ..well, in his room had a lot of food and even a few tons of rice, but he would be suspected if he really had it.

"Can it be with something else? I have 2 packs of cotton and some medicine."

The officer did not immediately refuse. "May I see it?"

Without hesitation Nanda took out 2 packs of cotton, a bottle of alcohol and a box of heat-lowering plaster.

"It's more than enough," the attendant unhesitatingly picked up a pack of cotton and a bottle of alcohol. "The rest you can keep it or exchange it for points."

Very honest ...

Nanda was satisfied with this officer. Obviously, he is not trying to take advantage of the new refugee ignorance.

"Can I exchange points here?"

"Yes" the man nodded. "Would everything be turned into points?"

Nanda nodded and without delaying the time, the man called out to the passing soldiers. Submit items and request to the points redemption section. The soldiers immediately went to run the order while the old man returned in front of the computer, typed in Yulis' full name and let the computer search for that name.

"Sorry, that name is not in our database," after a few minutes, the man made a sound. "Is there another name you want to look for?"

Nanda was silent for a few seconds. "Does the military family also belong to the search for the name?"

The man nodded. "The name given is not only to refugees, but also the military and its relatives who are in this base."

In other words, Yulis was not at this base... oh, Nanda could not help but be disappointed. His goal is to find his best friend, not take refuge.

"Will their names remain on the base once they have left the base?"

"The system will automatically delete data when there is no update of activity for more than 2 weeks from the account owner. So, when the data is erased, they have to re-register."

Activity updates, Nanda can guess that what is meant is the addition and subtraction of points. Each account has a certain point ...

"Can you tell me if someone named Isabella Yulis is coming?"

The officer smiled. "No, but we can tell him where you are if he asks about you."

Nanda awkward. He did not know whether Yulis would look for it or not if to obtain the information he had to pay. Moreover, 10 points .. when viewed from whatever the officer took, the number was quite large.

Nanda sighed inwardly and found that the soldier in charge of exchanging his goods had returned. The figure bowed, whispered something, then stood straight behind the Officer.

"From those items, you exchange 45 points. 10 points are taken for information so the total now points is 35. To check points, every floor has a scan, you can check it there."

The clerk returned a paper carton the size of a business card to Nanda's hand.

"I understand."

"Before that, may I ask?" Nanda just kept quiet, staring at the officer to continue his sentence. "Where did you get those things? I'm sorry to be impressed by the investigation, but we need a lot of alcohol and some medical supplies, so we need information."

Nanda was 100% convinced the military was moving to loot some things around the base but still did not dare to storm risky places such as the Mall and also the hospital.

Oh, it's in the middle of town which means there's a huge zombie population. For those who do not understand how zombies can detect the existence of humans, will consider zombies have a sixth sense and tend to be terrible.

Zombies detect humans by heat and sound. They can feel the body temperature of living things within a certain vulnerable distance. But if their existence is blocked by a wall or within a distance of about 3 or 4 meters and is not noisy, the zombies will turn blind and only hear sounds that tend to be big as the purpose of their trip.

Then power users, like himself, tend to have a low body temperature. That's why only zombies that are close by will be aware of its existence. However, this premise only applied to low-level zombies. When the zonbie has evolved, they can even detect the presence of humans even though they are behind concrete.

Unfortunately, Nanda does not want to divulge this information he has if he does not want to be suspected.

"I picked it up in some empty house."

The officer looked surprised to hear it, but a few seconds later understood. Oh, it would be strange if this figure dared to steal in large places that might store a lot of zombies.

"Okay, thanks for the info" the officer smiled. Nodding towards Nanda. Nanda also did not linger back. Straight walk into the exchange area and intend to exchange the clothes and some food he has.

Nanda didn't want to treat herself so badly. So he planned to take the room for the next few days while waiting for Yulis. Unfortunately, renting a room requires points and he still has to be low and invisible if he wants to move freely.

Well ... that means, he has to work.
