يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالًا كَثِيرًا وَنِسَاءً وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي تَسَاءَلُونَ بِهِ وَالْأَرْحَامَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيبًا (1)
Meaning:
O people, fear your Lord who created you from yourselves, and created from him his mate and spread many men and women from (the result of mixing) both. Fear Allah whom you often ask for and fear when you break the cord. Verily Allah is ever watching over you.
Explanation and wisdom :
1. The meaning of An-Nisa` is the women. The descent of this letter of An-Nisa` is as proof that in the eyes of God, women are beings of value. Islam is a religion that elevates women. In Islam, they are the ones who are to be protected and respected. In the days of Jahiliyyah, before Islam came, women were a worthless item. Some even consider that women are demons and the source of all evil. So, it is not surprising that before Islam came, many did not like girls to the point that if it turns out that babies born from the womb of their wives are daughters, they could kill them, he said, buried alive. Another example that in the days of jahiliyyah women were oppressed is that they did not get any inheritance rights at all. After Islam came, women got their rights.
2. History has never known a religion or a system that values the existence of women as either mother, son, wife or herself, nobler than Islam. Islam never discriminates against women. Some of the rules prescribed by Islam to women, are not meant to insult women. As alleged by the enemies of Islam. But the rule is intended to protect and maintain the honor of Muslim women. And it has been proven in history that only Islam is capable of preserving the glory of women.
