The Pesantren...

The santriwan and santriwati have carried out their activities as usual.

One of the functions of pesantren huts is to print the example of the community. In this case santri graduates of pesantren cottage are expected to be a service and role model for the community. For this reason, boarding schools compile activities that form santri into a mature, independent, knowledgeable, individual, and master a variety of soft skills with Ulama and Kyai who always monitor the development of santri in pesantren podok. What are the activities of santri in pesantren podok that do not exist in schools in general? Let's peel together right away

Prayer congregation must be a mandatory activity in the boarding school. There should be no santri who laze in doing prayers, be it dawn prayer, dzuhur, ashar, maghrib, or isya. For that all are required to pray in congregation to be more excited. When the adhan is proclaimed, the santri must be at the mosque/mushalla and prepare for congregational prayer.

Every night the santri are awakened to establish tahajjud prayer. Usually between 2 and 4 in the morning. If it is close to dawn, the santri are not allowed to sleep again. Santri are required to do daily dhikr while waiting for the time of dawn to arrive, even while coughing. If you are familiar with the activities of tahajjud prayer then there will be no burden or drowsiness during dhikr.

Within a year, the students were targeted to be able to recite the Koran. For this reason, the Quranic tadarus becomes a daily activity of santri which is usually done after shajuh prayer or maghrib prayer. At that time santri began to perform Tadarus Quran in pesantren podok.

Teaching is one of the main goals of lodging in pesantren. Santri who will later plunge into society, is required to be able to master various branches of science. For that the santri in the boarding school are taught starting from reading the Quran, akhlaq, tawhid, fiqh, nahwu, sharaf, ushul rules, to balagah, mantiq, tafsir and falaq sciences. Generally, each pesantren has its own curriculum, such as the level of books to be reviewed, study classes, and so forth.

Each boarding school has a rote program for its students. Memorized ones such as the Arabic mufrodat, vocabulary, Quranic verses, hadiths, and yellow book nadzom-nadzom. After memorization, santri deposits his memorization to ustadz or senior santri who are already proficient. If you do not deposit or reach the target, the santri will get a penalty, can mop the room, be shocked, taken, or with other penalties, to be replaced because it has not been biased to reach its rote target.

Lalaran is the activity of reading and repeating the verses in the book in a doubtful way. The goal is to make it easier for students to remember the lesson materials contained in the booklet. Some call it nadzoman, because the verses that are read are also called nadzom. As for the books that are usually nadzom can by santri, among others, aqidatul awwam, imrithi, maqsud, alfiyah ibn malik and so forth. That way the santri can memorize his memorization, to be further deposited to the Ulama or Kyai in the boarding school.

Khitobah or Kajian is a lecture activity for students. In turn, the students come forward to learn to speak/speech. The theme can be about anything. Once or twice the santri tucked the Quran or hadith as the foundation of his speech. This activity is useful to train the courage, confidence, and communication skills of the students. Not infrequently santri wear the attributes of macem-macem when appearing to speak, such as wearing clothes, turban, and udeng-udeng ala sheikh-shaykh arab, or wearing suits, ties, and glasses ala officials.

Bahtsul masail is an activity to discuss social problems from a religious point of view with the foundation of the Quran, Hadith, and the previous books of scholars. The difference with deliberation is that deliberation uses the phases in the book to be discussed (polar bahtsul), while the masail bahtsul is already available problems, just formulate a solution to solve a problem

Nderes is a reading activity. If the term nderes al-Quran means the tadarus of the Quran, or repeated until memorized. If the term nderes the book means reading and learning to repeat the books previously studied. Santri who is diligent will be a smart santri, because with that santri will quickly understand the lessons and knowledge.

Marhabanan is the activity of reading the prayer and the text of the Prophet's maulid in the form of verses or prose by previous scholars such as Diba’, Barzanji, Burdah, Shimtud Duror, and so forth. This activity is routinely carried out on Friday night’at together with all santri sepondok pesantren. When the santri marhaban read it carefully and solemnly even while standing.

Pilgrimage has become a habit for some Muslims in Indonesia, this activity is also a routine activity in boarding schools. Usually the santri make a pilgrimage on Friday’at to the tombs of teachers, ustadz, kyai, ulama, or relatives. There is a night of jum’at, ba’da shabuh prayer, or ba’a jum prayer. Tomb pilgrimage is done by reading tahlil, dhikr, and prayer. Some santri also often read the Koran beside the tomb that was pilgrimed.

Ro’an is a service activity of the santri. Ro’an is usually identified with cleaning activities of boarding schools on every holiday or before celebrations. Sometimes ro’an is also the term gotong royong santri when building a building such as ngecor, namph, and so on. Such activities can ease the burden of pesantren podok officers. Because there are these activities, students are also taught to always help each other with each other.

Eating is also the most eagerly awaited activity of the santri. Santri gets food rations 2-3 times a day, depending on the policy of the cottage. Even in some places, the cottage does not provide dining services, but the students who have to cook their own. The food served is also simple, ranging from asem vegetables, soup, salted fish, tempe oreg, tofu, and so on. There is one phenomenal side dish among santri, namely satay. Sate in question is sambal eggplant or vegetable tempe. It was a simple side dish that abbreviated its name to be more poetic when mentioning it.

Washing is also one of the favorite activities of the santri, for some other santri washing is also the most lazy activity done. Dense activity of santri in a day, making the clothes worn should be quickly changed. For that santri must often wash his clothes, especially underwear. If not routinely to wash his clothes regularly his clothes will be a hotbed of disease, as a result santri exposed to itching because lazy to wash. But there are just santri who use a set of clothes for all activities such as prayer, teaching, school, sports, and sleep. Maybe they consider it a versatile outfit.

In addition to washing clothes, students must also diligently wash their bodies. The interesting thing when taking a shower is the long queue. The number of students is not balanced with the number of bathrooms, making the students have to wait patiently for the queue to take a shower. If you do not want to put the body waiting, students will make a line of their toiletries such as dipper or bath box as a sign of their queue.

Pondok pesantren has various kinds of extracurricular programs. There are sports activities such as football, basketball, badminton, or volleyball. There are martial arts like pecak silat or wushu. There are musical arts such as marawis, qasidah, or nasyid/acapela. There are also other activities such as Qiraah, kalighrafi, and so on. In once a year usually held a race between students. There is also a race between pesantren huts in certain regions, even the level of Indonesia also exists.

In addition to studying religion in the boarding school, some students also attend formal schools to get general knowledge. There is a school that is still one foundation under the boarding school, there is also a separate management. Pesantren that allow students to attend formal school are usually modern pesantren or semi-modern salaf. Either way, the school is a routine activity of the students, mottonya “We go to school”.

That is at least a variety of activities in the boarding school. For those of you who have also been educated at any boarding school, if there are activities that have not been listed can be added yes readers?
