Iddah

"Three serious things are taken seriously and the jokes are taken seriously: marriage, divorce and marriage."

(Reported by Al Arba'ah except An Nasa'i. Presented by Al Albani in Ash Shahihah)

Amira was still silent sitting on her chair, she looked at Dinan's biodata with a look of despair. He thought, how much is his wife Dinan, so he easily changed women at different times. Amira remembers the woman who lived in Dinan's house was a different woman to the woman who was invited to Faris' house, and what is more surprising is that both of them had children the same age. Amira really does not understand everything that has happened.

Amira folded up Dinan's seedy-looking biodata paper, then she slipped it in a large book. He got up from his seat and walked towards the exit, he needed fresh air so that the shadow of the incident this afternoon did not haunt.

"Ammah," called Fatimah making Amira walk towards the girl with the two ponytails. Amira took a seat on the same carpet that the ponakan did.

"What meda?" but Amira observes the activities of the ponakan.

"When reading the picture, Mah." Fatimah seemed undisturbed, Amira was astonished by the ponakan. Why did Fatimah call him if he was still faithful with reading. Ah, it feels like Amira is jealous of the book that was so noticed by the ponakan. Amira moved her head, she felt that she was starting to get crazy with her own mindset.

"Why Ami?" ask Dinda who's been sitting on the couch.

"No papa, why Ami?" Amira sees Dinda in wonder.

"You just shook your head." Amira stared quickly at the sister-in-law and then grimaced, making Dinda look suspicious.

"Why?"

"Father Ma'am, O Allah do not believe." Amira left the carpet and sat down next to her sister-in-law.

"Udah kicking yet?" Amira stroked gently Dinda's distended stomach.

"Udah is often Ammah" said Dinda in a child-styled voice.

"It hurts, Mom?"

"Sick sometimes, just now considering I brought a life the pain changed happiness." Amira stroked the stomach of the sister-in-law and she could feel her active movements.

"Well, yes, ma'am."

"Not really, more often at night." Amira nodded enthusiastically.

"Fatimah will also hold," said Fatimah who had placed her hand on Amira's hand.

"No power Fat, gini nih new felt." Amira changed the position of her hand to overcome the tiny hand Fatimah who had looked flattened even though she was a child.

"Ih ameli Ammah. It's a motion worm." Amira laughed at Fatimah's words.

"It's not a worm, it's his sister's brother." Fatimah giggled then she walked tidying up the book she had brought.

Amira looked at Fatimah in silence, she was sure that the other niece would be a great woman. He will not be lost like himself, since childhood Fatimah has been very self-preserving and he is sure later in adulthood he will be the next generation of good religion. Amira sees Fatimah again wearing the hijab she took off. Yes, since childhood was a toddler Fatimah had asked for a hijab to her mother, even if not given a hijab then she would be angry with crying very loudly and would stop suddenly if her head was covered with cloth. Isn't that amazing?

Amira helped Fatimah lift her book.

"Fatimah can, Ammah." Amira smiled and taught herself the basket to put on the table. He wasn't sure Fatimah could put it on top.

"God knows that Fatimah can be alone, but a heavy job will feel light if we work together. So there's no harm in us easing each other's work." Fatimah looked at Amira's face in awe, Fatimah smiled then nodded.

"Like Abi who likes to help umi wash clothes huh, Mah?" Amira nodded.

"Truely, whose child is this smart," said Amira holding Fatimah's hand to walk back to the living room.

"The son of Abi Arif and Umi Dinda." Amira nodded.

"Eh, but I almost have a sister. His call changed abbah and ummah." Fatimah looked at Amira with interest.

"Why is that?"

"Yes, if you have a child just one abi and umi. But if it is more abba and ummah, because there are already many children." Amira said with a serious face then ended in a whisper.

"Agreed!" exclaim Fatimah with a loud cry. Then the two laughed together.

"Where's Ma'am going?" amira asked while sitting down, she looked at Fatimah who was in front of her mother by putting her hands on Dinda's distended stomach.

"So mom went to study in Nusa Dua." Amira nodded her eyes at her bangs in wonder. The seven-year-old said that she was amused but now that the boy was comfortable, it seemed that the little girl was addicted to the charm of the living creature in the womb of the mother.

"Mother since there was a bang Arif so often come along to go yes, where ever." Amira said while confirming her sitting position.

"You used to take public transportation, while you don't feel at home in a tiled place."

"Yes how else Ma'am, his name is also we in accordance with the ability." Amira said casually as if not offended by her brother-in-law's words. But she was indeed not offended because to her what her brother said was indeed true. Him and his flaws.

"Why don't you get on the bike anyway, Ami?"

---

Amira comes out of her room, she heads to the kitchen to fill her drinking bottle. Today he has a schedule to meet with Luluk for the umpteenth time. Yes, Luluk has often sent messages asking to meet but at the end Luluk always reasoned not to come. Imagine? Who asks to meet and who cancels for various reasons? O Allah, if there is a limit to patience, Amira may choose to give up and not leave a solid time to meet you with Luluk.

"Where are you going?" Amira turned to look towards Arif who was wearing a house shirt.

"Wouldn't work?" Arif was pressed then he pulled back the chair to sit on.

"He asked back." Arif flips the glass and fills it with water. Amira smiled a little.

"You'll see you, Bang." Amira sat down in front of Arif.

"It's about to take a leave of absence, is your mother nearing the day of birth." Amira nodded, if calculated it is only two more days in accordance with the predictions of the doctor.

"Is there any sign?" Amira propped up her chin on the table.

"So early in the morning I told you it was mules and your hips hurt. Yeah, I don't know either." Arif stood up to wash the glass but was sent by Amira.

"You don't leave for long" said Arif.

"Emang why?

"Your body needs rest" said Arif, returning to his seat.

"Yes Bang, Ami knows his limits. Just relax!" Arif observed Amira wiping the glass and putting it on the glass shelf. He became well aware said Dinan that his sister looked so fragile, but all this time he was too blind to the sister just because of an idealist that he applied. All this time he had not been a good brother because he was too busy with his own world. Arif is quite grateful to know Dinan who has simple thoughts but is able to put himself anywhere.

"Well, why don't men have iddah like women." Arif looked at his sister's face in wonder. Why the discussion taken by the sister is always a discussion that is too grandiose and does not need thought.

"Because men have iddah means men are not allowed polygamy." Amira sat in front of Arif.

"Why?"

"Because how would polygamy be if he had iddah? For three months he hasn't hired his new wife can he be polygamous?" Amira nodded then she stared quickly at Arif.

"Why?" Amira shakes.

"So you can get divorced directly from marriage?"

"May, not even a divorce can be." Amira pressed her lips in disbelief.

"Nob be a man." Arif looked quickly

"What are you thinking?"

"Nothing."

"Then?"

"Just think about it."

"Said no, then why think. The woman and her strangeness." Arif said with a humorous tone.

"What try, I say it's Dinda loh." Not afraid of Arif even laugh.

"Do you know what the iddah period is for women?"

"No," Amira replied innocently making Arif smile.

"Estops the uterus."

"meaning?"

"Yes, to empty the uterus from fertilization. Because we fellow brethren must not put a seed in the same womb. So it took me three months to convince myself that the woman's uterus was completely clean."

"Is iddah always 3 months?"

"No, read it in the book." Arif stood up while pointing at the bookshelf while Arif stepped towards his room.

"I thought I'd get it left behind." Amira grumbled as she walked towards her room.

"If I marry Mr. Dinan and keep his wife pregnant means that Mr. Dinan will marry his wife again, it is not legal to divorce a pregnant person." Amira put the phone in the bag.

"But why is Mr. Dinan divorced?" Amira fell silent then she sat down on the bedside. He thought, if Dinan was easily married then divorced could be later he would feel the same way. When he was married then he would be divorced just like Dinan's previous wife. No, Amira didn't want that to happen. He wanted to get married and live together until the end of his life. He did not want to be separated just because of a problem that he said had not found a way out.

Amira beristighfar then she cupped her face with both of them. He didn't know what to do, but for sure at the moment he really couldn't think. Amira stood up she took off her neat hijab buttons then took off her socks starting with the left and then the right did not forget she said basmalah to start. Then he put on the edge of the bed and went to the bathroom, he thought with ablution maybe his heart would be calmer.
