Ch. 5 - Kikuchi OTA

Student Strange 4: Kikuchi OTA

Strange Power: Oxygen Breaker

Star Location: Back of Right Hand Palm.

Did you know what is called oxygen? Oxygen is a substance that cannot be seen but can be felt. Although oxygen is invisible, it gives us life.

Without oxygen, we cannot live. Without oxygen, we can't play games for long. Without oxygen, you cannot get married. Let alone marriage, life cannot. We should thank oxygen. So too with its creator.

Have you ever imagined a life without oxygen? I never imagined it myself. I began to feel the importance of oxygen when I met one of the students in my class named Ota. He has strange powers. Rather than strength, I would rather call it a natural disaster.

Ota's strange power is: When she falls asleep, the oxygen in the room will disappear.

Yeah, totally gone. When Ota fell asleep, there would be no oxygen at all in the room. Everyone in the room would not be able to breathe. Except for Ota herself.

His strange powers were once active one day while I was teaching. It was the last hour of lesson. I'm writing a mathematical formula on the blackboard.

“Well, for logarithms of this type, we can use the formula—” I stopped explaining. My chest feels bad, I can't breathe. When I looked back, it turned out that the children were enduring the suffering.

Ota overslept in class!

“Woy! wake the fucking kid!!!” Gen screaming.

“Quick wake him, I can't breathe!” Shuu touched his chest.

The friend next to Ota, had already woken her, but Ota did not wake up either. He's hard to wake up. The classmates approached Ota to wake her up. But he still hasn't woken up.

Though various ways have been done. They had tickled Ota, pinched Ota hard, turned on the speaker beside her ear, so that someone could pour hot water on her hand.

Ota had been asleep for a minute. Children who are starting to run out of breath come out of class. Some tough kids are still in the classroom. The kids are starting to get emotional.

“Woy shucks, wake up! It's night!” Hoshi yells. Head shone.

“Already, we just beat him up! Later he'll wake up,” Gen's advice.

“Let's take off his pants too,” Shuu said.

“Awas!!!...”

Voor!!!

Now Ota was soaking wet. His entire body was wet, like a person who had just drowned in a lake. But he still hasn't woken up. All the children had given up, the tough kids had started scattering out.

Among the exhausted children, came Akemi— alone—from the doorway to Ota's seat. He whispered something to Ota's left ear. Then Ota woke up.

“All are safe. Oxygen is in place again,” Akemi reports. He managed to wake Ota up. Oxygen is again. Friends cheered happily. Akemi was like a goddess of salvation that descended from the sky.

Ota who had woken up immediately apologized to her friends.

Then he went to the bathroom—took a towel and a change uniform from inside his bag. Ota had expected this to happen.

After changing clothes, Ota was a little angry with her friend. He came to the front of the class and asked me something. “Who has just doused my hand with hot water?”

“Not me,” said Hoshi, his head shining. Ota stared intently at Hoshi.

It doesn't happen just once. One day Ota fell asleep again in class. Lullin and Nana try to whisper something into Ota's ear, but Ota does not wake up. While Akemi whispered, Ota immediately woke up.

From then on, I asked Akemi to sit down with Ota, so that Akemi could wake her up easily. Ever since I sat down with Akemi, Ota has become more carefree and happy. During class hours, he often smiles to himself.

A week before UTS, Ota always stayed up to learn. Ota's sleep frequency becomes more frequent. Fortunately there was Akemi, she always managed to wake him up. Children can breathe freely.

However, one day Akemi does not go to school. Ota sat alone. The children began to fret, fearing Ota falling asleep. Sure enough, in the last lesson Ota overslept. But the kids don't panic. They had already prepared a plan.

“Freely we woke Ota. He'll never wake up. Come on, let's do our plan guys!” Hoshi gave the command.

Hoshi, Shuu and Gen together carried Ota out of the room. The three of them carried Ota all the way to the school grounds. They put Ota there, then went back to class.

“Well, now the problem is settled,” said Hoshi while patting both hands.
