The sound of music in that nightclub was something that was common to Charlotte. If other people will feel noisy, other things with Charlotte who actually enjoy it. It was because he had become his habit to listen to loud music.
As well as tonight, Charlotte is in a nightclub to meet some of her friends or acquaintances including her best friend Laurent, the owner of the club.
Drrrtt!
Drrrtt!
Charlotte's phone is shaking. He grabs his phone and grieves when he reads a message from Xander saying he can't come tonight.
"I guessed it." murmured Charlotte as she put her phone with a rough slam to the table.
Charlotte didn't know something like this was going to happen. From the beginning he also knew that Xander could not come. But in his heart he kept hoping.
"Drink?" bargain Laurent who just sat right in front of Charlotte while thrusting a glass of drink onto the table for Charlotte.
"Thank you."
"Gue doesn't think you're going to date tonight" Laurent said.
"Lo invite ya I'll definitely come." replied Charlotte casually.
"Yes, you're a little late. Even before the others were pessimistic if you would not come." said Laurent who immediately made Charlotte tick.
"When would I not have come if I had invited him?"
Laurent nodded. "Take it too."
"Where is Xander, by the way? I haven't seen him show up?" laurent said as he straightened up the drink he had in his hand.
"No need to wait. He's not gonna come here in time" Charlotte said limp.
"No dateng?"
"Yes, that's it. He's got other business."
Laurent looked at Charlotte wonder then then brought himself closer to Charlotte who is now focused on playing his phone.
"Where is he really? He doesn't usually go without elo-kayak gini"
Charlotte sighed softly then put her phone on the table and looked at Laurent with a flat look.
"He's in Grandpa's office again. There's business there."
"What business?"
"No idea. And don't want to know." said Charlotte.
"But he's not coming here?"
"She promised me that it would come." Charlotte shook her shoulder indifferently and downed her drink.
Charlotte lowered. He actually still feels annoyed if he has to talk about Xander now. Somehow he felt that the young man would fail to keep his promise.
"Why lo?" said Laurent who saw Charlotte wasn't too excited when it came to Xander.
Laurent's reprimand made Charlotte who originally lowered her head look up, looking at him.
"Gue why?" ask Charlotte back.
"Murung. Why?"
Yeah, that night Charlotte did seem uninspired. He was so lethargic and looked like he was sick.
Charlotte just smiled knotingly, then shook her head, "It's okay."
"Lo sick?" laurent asked insisting.
Charlotte sighed, turning her face the other way. He didn't want Laurent to know his anxiety.
To be honest, he was upset because his grandfather took Xander away. Xander should have gone with him tonight if his grandfather hadn't taken Xander first.
"Gue's fine, really" Charlotte tried to convince.
Laurent screeching. Come on, he's been Charlotte's best friend for years. Of course he knows what the character of the girl is. And Charlotte seems to be thinking a lot right now.
"Okay, I can accept if you don't want to tell me about your problem. But I'm just asking you to enjoy the party tonight."
"No promise" said Charlotte leaned back into her seat.
Laurent screeching.
"Oh Lottie, we just met after a long time and elo put on an ugly expression like that."
"What old times? We even just met a while ago." Charlotte said cynically.
Hearing that Laurent immediately laughed.
"Stay, we haven't seen each other in a long time and have fun like this, have we?" laurent insisted and poured the drink back into Charlotte's glass.
Charlotte looked at Laurent who was filling his glass. "Don't much. I don't want to drink much anymore. No more getting drunk."
"Don't drink much?" Laurent stopped his pouring activities and raised his eyebrows next to him. "Since when?"
"Since this day."
"Why?"
"Not in the mood."
"No mood?" laurent replied and then chuckled. He had not expected such a sentence to have just come out of Charlotte's mouth. He thought all this time Charlotte and booze were something that could not be separated.
"Since when do you want to split up drinking?" Laurent taunts. Yes, as Laurent remembers, this girl will always spend her world on alcoholic drinks.
"Lo laugh?" grab Charlotte when she sees Laurent who is laughing.
"Yes out, you're not as usual. What the hell are you doing today? Not very good, I swear."
"The reason you're not in that mood is because Xander isn't here, is he?" guess Laurent made Charlotte raise her eyebrows next to him.
"How do you know?"
"Come Lottie. I've known you for years. And little things like this are so easy for me to guess."
Laurent's confidence made Charlotte snigger cynically.
"Sokot know very well elo." said Charlotte then downed the drink.
"Gue knows. And I also know that my guess is real." said Laurent relaxed.
"Okay, I admit. I'm sprained because Xander went with grandpa. But the thing that pisses me off is that he didn't show up until now. He made me a promise that he would come."
"Not everyone can keep their promises on time, right? It might be jammed."
"Yes, right. But I called her to ask her why she was late. But he didn't even lift it. At least give me an excuse."
Laurent nodded, "Then we wait. Maybe he'll come."
"That's what I've been waiting for." Charlotte is nodding
"Gue can understand you kelen. You guys are always together. But not forever also Xander can be with you."
"Yes. I tau. I just can't be willing to spend time with us as a sister has to decrease."
"He's Xander. He's lo's brother. And I can guarantee that you'll still be number one for him."
"Gue tau." Charlotte nodded and smiled knotfully.
Laurent smiled as he watched Charlotte lower her head. He knew the girl was still nervous.
"Come Lottie. In life, we have to have fun too. Don't be so tense. I'm still here." continued Laurent comforted his best friend while pouring drinks into his glass and downing him in one gulp.
"And now, instead of being dizzy, we're going to have a party" Laurent said, pouring the drink back into Charlotte's glass.
Charlotte grunts. He shook his head slowly. Laurent is the type of young man who is so relaxed in his life. He never considered anything a big deal.
For Laurent, there's no problem that can't be solved. He always spent his life having fun.
Actually, Charlotte was too. But that was when the grandfather was still freeing Xander from doing everything with him. Now it's different, because the grandfather started bringing Xander into his world. His grandfather even brought Xander to the office several times.
It starts to annoy Charlotte and slowly makes her worry about losing Xander due to her busyness later.
"Lottie!"
Laurent's call resuscitated Charlotte. The young man was raising his glass to invite Charlotte to a toast.
"Yes?" reply Charlotte.
"Let's make a toast." take Laurent.
"OK, okay." said Charlotte, trying to please her best friend.
Eventually, Charlotte spends her time having fun with Laurent at the club.
And now, it's been almost two hours that Charlotte was in the nightclub. He had already finished a few drinks.
His dealings with some of his friends are over. And Laurent too. The young man is currently seen in a corner of the nightclub, teasing a beautiful girl.
"So stupid base." murmured Charlotte when she saw Laurent's demeanor that seemed so humiliating when he teased the girl.
Charlotte smiled at Laurent from a distance and then downed her drink. He glanced at the clock in his hand. Charlotte realized it was too long she was here then thought about just going home now.
Yes, it seems that for now there is no longer any reason for Charlotte to last any longer here. After feeling bored, Charlotte finally decided to go home.
But just as Charlotte moved about to get up from her seat, her eyes inadvertently caught something disturbing.
A tall man was sitting at a bar table near a brick wall. He wears black trousers, a black leather jacket and a black hat. With cigarette smoke coming out of his mouth, billowing around him.
Charlotte squinting. Whether it was just his delusion or he was indeed like recognizing the man sitting at the bar. Although it was vague as it looked, but he was quite certain that his sharp eyes were never wrong in judging one's traits.
After observing someone for a few seconds, Charlotte immediately rounded in surprise. He realizes that the man is Brandon, his former lover.
Charlotte grieves.
"Brandon." he muttered. "What is he doing here?"
Charlotte clenched her hands together and stared intently at the man.
"Why is he in this place too" murmured Charlotte.
"Who?" ask Laurent who just came back to his desk. "Who's here?"
"Someone I know." murmured Charlotte as she stared intently at Brandon and then looked back at Laurent. "Laurent, I think I should go for a minute."
Laurent looked at the clock on his wrist. "Where? Going home?"
"Not."
"Then?"
"Yes, I have a short affair with someone I know." Charlotte pointed to a young man with her chin while putting on a flat look.
Laurent looked towards the man. As if understanding, the young man sighed softly and nodded his head.
"Alright, if there's anything you need. I'll be here." Laurent said, patting Charlotte on the shoulder.
Charlotte nodded.
"Don't worry" Charlotte said as she walked away. "I'll go first."
