Dinner was over a few minutes ago, but Mr. Romanov and Xander still had not left the table. Charlotte had already gone to her room.
A waiter was seen pouring tea into a glass in front of Mr. Romanov. Only then did the servant leave the place.
Mr. Romanov turned his head briefly to Xander who was currently focusing on playing the phone in his hand. He grabbed a glass and sipped his heat test.
"Tomorrow are you going to college?" asked Mr. Romanov to break the silence.
Xander immediately raised his head, looked at mister Romanov and then nodded. "Yes, right cake. Looks like there are some courses I have to attend tomorrow."
Silence for a moment. Xander now refocuses on his phone while Mr. Romanov still enjoys his hot tea.
"You don't want to study abroad, Xander?" said Mr. Romanov without a stale base.
"What cake?" xander asked with a puzzled look, his forehead shrinking.
"Study abroad. In Japan. You stay with Grandpa there. Don't worry about anything, grandfather will meet your needs there." said Mr. Romanov, stirring his tea glass.
Xander was silent for a moment. He put his cell phone on the dining table. Both of his eyes looked at the grandfather. He really did not know what to say to the grandfather at this moment.
Mr. Romanov could see the doubt that was in Xander's eyes at the moment. The grandson of hers was obviously very surprised by her sudden invitation just now.
Xander scratched his ear awkwardly, "I can't determine such things, cake! If I agree, I'll have to wait for Charlotte's decision first. Because as you know, all this time I just followed Charlotte's decision. Wherever he goes I'll follow him."
Mr. Romanov nodded in understanding. "You followed him because you followed Grandpa's orders. Ever since I was a kid, Grandpa's instilled in you to look after Charlotte like your own sister."
"Yes, cake!"
"That's why grandpa would take her too. So, you two, I mean, you and Charlotte, go with me!"
"What?" xander was surprised. His body reflexively retreated backwards until it touched the back of the chair. "You mean our grandfathers are all going to Japan?"
"Yes, you can continue your studies there. And once you graduate, you'll go straight into the company to learn to replace me."
Xander was stunned, he felt even more confused at this moment. "What's? Inaugurate? Grandpa says I'm gonna make Grandpa?"
"Why are you surprised?" mr. Romanov chuckled at the expression of his granddaughter. "Have you forgotten that grandfather will give you half of Grandfather's treasure?"
"Half?" xander's eyes were now perfectly rounded. "But instead of grandpa ever saying I'll get twenty pe-"
"Yes!" cut Mr. Romanov fast. "Grandfather once said he would only give you twenty percent. But grandfather changes his mind and will give you fifty percent on the condition that you replace your grandfather's position to become the leader of the grandfather's company later."
"But didn't Grandpa ever say that whoever Charlotte's husband is, he's the one who's gonna make Grandpa's next?"
Mr. Romanov suddenly laughed loudly when he saw the puzzled face of this young man before him. "Do you really think grandpa would do that?"
Xander nodded innocently. "No, really?"
"Of course not, Xander!" mr. Romanov said firmly. "In life, Grandpa trusts you more than anyone. You're also grandfather's grandson. Although it's not grandpa's flesh and blood, you're still Grandpa's granddaughter. And I'm sure that Charlotte will also agree with Grandpa's choice by choosing you to be Grandpa's replacement."
"Then Charlotte?"
Mr. Romanov sighed, looking at Xander with a casual smile. "You know him, Xander. He wouldn't care about something like this. He would also not care about the division of the inheritance. She only cares about her modeling career and has fun."
Xander was silent in his position. He choked. His tongue was muffled after hearing all the words and words of Mr. Romanov to him.
Seeing Xander's silence, Mr. Romanov spoke again. "What's up Xander? Why are you just quiet?"
"Is grandpa serious?" xander asked, looking at the grandfather. "About all this?"
"Of course!" answer Mr. Romanov steady. "Grandfather was really serious about what Grandpa said to you."
Xander gulped his saliva with great difficulty, for some reason now his esophagus feels very dry. He then exhaled slowly, trying to remain calm. He then looked at the grandfather who was now enjoying his tea casually in front of him.
"Grandfather, I don't think I can do that" Xander said, looking down.
"It's too heavy for me, cake!" obviously Xander and he are telling the truth. Just imagine, how can someone seem to be the leader of a large company like the property of Mr. Romanov Clinton.
He's not Mr. Romanov's grandson after all. Think about what people will say about this later. How can someone who doesn't even have a family relationship be an heir.
"What do you mean Xander?" mr. Romanov asked, he looked at Xander in confusion.
Xander still lowered his head. "Grandfather has been very meritorious when taking me from the orphanage to this mansion first. Grandpa took care of me and even financed all my education from my childhood to this moment."
"I haven't even returned all the kindness to that grandfather but grandfather has come back to do this kind of shocking thing to me. Just imagine, grandfather handed over half of grandfather's treasure? I think it's really too much for me. I don't even know how to repay my grandfather before." continued Xander at length.
"Then take good care of my company! It's the only way for you to repay everything." replied Mr. Romanov firmly. "You're also my grandson, Xander. My precious granddaughter. So you're also perfectly entitled to accept all that."
Mr. Romanov's reply again made Xander speechless. He then sighed while shaking his head. "I don't trust myself, Grandpa. I'm not as smart and full of authority as Grandpa, so where might I be-"
"It all started with your effort and hard work, Xander!" reply mr. Romanov quickly. "Grandfather is also not a smart person but grandfather has passion and always works hard. That's what's slowly helping grandpa move forward."
"Grandfather, I-"
"You are the ultimate heir!" Mr. Romanov continues. "So grandfather hopes you can start getting into the company after you finish college. That's why grandfather wants you to move to Japan, so he can study slowly with grandfather while waiting to finish your college. The sooner you start, the more honed your abilities will be! You take it easy because Grandpa will continue to guide you from behind."
"But for now I can't just let Charlotte off the hook. To me, he's still too wild and can't take care of himself." Xander continued to insist.
"I'm also not sure he will allow me to enter the company anytime soon. He would definitely be angry and resolutely refuse if I no longer went with him." continued Xander frankly.
Mr. Romanov shook his head.
"Charlotte has to understand. This is a good time to start. Whatever the reason, you'll have to leave it one day, too." Mr. Romanov then rests his back on the back of the chair. "Remember Xander, I gave you a high education not to be a keeper, but to help me lead all this later."
"Grandfather, I would be willing to leave if Charlotte had found someone who could replace me to take care of her. Someone who makes him feel alone. And the one who will make it no longer depends on me. I. I just don't want to see her sad."
After hearing Xander's long sentence, Mr. Romanov immediately nodded in agreement.
"You're right Xander. How could I forget that fact. You've been around him for almost twenty-four hours since you were kids. You're like a big brother to him. And you're even like twin brothers. He will definitely feel very lost to you later. I'm not even sure if he can part with you someday. I really don't want to if in the end, Charlotte can't do anything without you." Mr. Romanov said softly, tucked in a worried tone in his words.
Xander smiled slightly. "Grandfather calm down, someday he will definitely find someone. But I don't think so now. He was twenty-one years old. And I think it's also too soon for him to think about who his life partner will be."
"But didn't I see some time ago the news he was dating a famous businessman?" mr. Romanov said in wonder.
Xander laughed immediately. "Grandfather needs to know he and the guy only dated for five days."
"What's? Five days?" mr. Romanov.
"Charlotte, the granddaughter of the old man never dated a man for more than a week." Xander was still laughing.
"Is that so?"
"Yes." Yeah." Xander nodded and this time with a smile he continued his sentence. "And as I recall, Charlotte has never had a serious relationship with a man in her lifetime."
"Then, it's really a problem! He won't be able to get away from you!"
Xander laughed again. "Yes, that also means he'll keep me in trouble. He likes to make trouble. Big trouble!"
Mr. Romanov laughed. "I agree with you. She's my granddaughter, but I agree if someone says she's the culprit."
"Yes cake..." Xander smiled as Mr. Romanov shook his head after recalling Charlotte's troublemaking behavior.
"Alright, we'll talk about this again next time. Now grandfather will return to the room now for a rest" said Mr. Romanov in the end. "You should also rest!"
"Good grandpa!"
