Mia was ready in the morning with her bike. Suddenly the voice of Mr. Baskoro stopped his steps. "Where are you going?"
"To Dian's house, sir."
"Nyetrika's? Already, just shut up at home. Waiting for Haji Hamid. You will please and please your parents, Mia," persuaded Mr. Baskoro.
Mia swallowed her saliva. Instantly his lips withered. There was an indeterminate sense in his heart. He forced his stiff lips to smile, even though his heart was broken into pieces.
Mia put her foot on the bike, then started to pedal. On the way, he stopped for a while. Step aside and sit on the paddy field challenger. "Industry, cold. I want to be like the rice field. Although dirty, but many are benefited by rice fields. The result can be to eat, not to mention can make the air so cool."
Mia is thinking about the words of Mr. Baskoro. If married to Haji Hamid, he would be happy and would please his parents. He doesn't care about her, as long as her parents are happy.
"I have to marry Haji Hamid" Mia said quietly and encouraged herself.
He stood up and walked to his bike, paddled his bike back to Dian's house. After a long time of quieting his mind, he felt he had to cancel work to become a shopkeeper to Dian's mom.
"Mom" said Mia when she saw Dian's mom in the shop.
"Hey, where are you going?" ask Dian's mom.
"You'll see Mom" said Mia.
"Mia, so did you marry Haji Hamid?"
"What true? What about Mia?"
"He's 47 years old. It's 30 years the same as you."
"Yes, if it's money, let's not be different 30 years different 100 years is not a problem."
The mouths of the gossiping mothers were chirping even though Mia was in front of them. Again, Mia was numb. He just smiled and left them as Dian's mom pulled Mia's hand.
"You want Mi?" ask Dian's mom.
"That's Mom.. About keeping the shop, it looks like Mia didn't, Mom. Sorry, Mom!" mia said politely.
Bu Dian was silent for a moment, watching Mia's face. Flat, invisible is storing heavy loads.
"So right they say?" ask mom Dian to make sure.
Mia just smiled, then nodded. "I'm sorry ma'am!"
Now it's Dian's turn to be quiet, she just nods and sees Mia leaving her house.
Mia turned back to ride her bike to go home. Today Mia does not work, because Mr. Baskoro forbids it. Mia just complies.
"So Haji Hamid came here, when are you ready?" ask Mr. Baskoro when Mia just arrived in front of the house.
"When is he ready?" ask Mr. Baskoro again.
Mia stopped her hand that was about to enter her mouth. Mia looked at her father.
"Eh, Mia hear me! Haji Hamid promises to fix our rickety house. Not to mention there will be money for us. Don't you want to see your mom and dad happy in old age?" persuade mr. Baskoro.
Mia looked at her mother, but her mother shook her head. Sighs deeply then looks down. It might be better to just get married. So his mother's gout can be treated if there is monthly money from Haji Hamid for his family.
"It's up to you, Dad. Mia just goes with me. Father."
"MIA," cried Ningsih who did not expect the answer to come out of his son's mouth.
"It's okay Mom. Later you can take medication, so you can be healthy again."
Bu Ningsih does have severe gout. Even his right leg is often numb so often drag his legs when walking. That's why Miss Ningsih can't work. Hence Mia who replaced her role to meet the needs of her family.
"Mom better not be healthy anymore, as long as you don't marry Haji Hamid, Mia." Ningsih's cry broke out as powerless to hold back how hurt she was with her son's fate.
"Mom, don't be. Mia loves you with Mom." Mia ran away to the dining table and hugged her mother who was standing in front of her room.
The two brands both cried in the arms of the person they loved the most, but not for Mr. Baskoro. The man preferred to leave the two of them behind and meet Haji Hamid to inform him of this very happy news.
It only took three days to prepare for Mia and Haji Hamid's wedding. There are no fancy parties at their wedding. Not unable to for celebration, dangdutan seven days and seven nights only can. It was just that Mia asked him to marry simply.
Instead of the money wasted for the celebration, it is better to renovate the house and be able to treat his mother. Haji Hamid does not want to argue with Mia, he just follows his wishes.
After the kobul Ijab, there is no happiness or sadness because he was married to Haji Hamid. All Mia felt was the sadness of having to part with her mother. Mia will stay at Haji Hamid's house which is three times larger than her house.
Mia brought a little change of clothes. Intentionally, so that there is a reason he can go home to meet his mother. The house is not too far away, but it is quite tiring if you have to pedal the bike.
Ms. Ningsih has not stopped crying, it seems very hard to let Mia stay with Haji Hamid. Old man who doesn't know himself. "If you have free time, play here!" said Ms. Ningsih as she broke into tears.
"Yes ma'am, definitely." Mia reassured her mother and wiped the tears that began to fall on Ningsih's cheeks.
While Mr. Baskoro just sit back while smoking. Seeing that Mia and Haji Hamid were leaving, Baskoro immediately approached and whispered. "Sir Haji, I'm waiting for his monthly yes!"
"Not yet one day, have asked for a monthly ration." Haji Hamid's voice was loud enough to be heard by Mia and Bu Ningsih. They both just shake their heads.
"Here, make a cigarette first!" haji Hamid gave two hundred thousand dollars.
The happiest smile on Mr. Baskoro's lips. The hand of her parents made Mia shed tears. Again, not because of any regrets with Haji Hamid. Tears are proof of how painful it is to be separated from his parents. Mia can still meet her parents. Especially if they can't see each other forever.
Nah! Mama needs to heal. Haji Hamid will give money for mother's treatment if I am kind and polite to him. I promise to obey all Haji Hamid's orders.
Mia follows Haji Hamid who gets into a black Avanza car from 2012. Not the latest car, but luxurious for residents around the village.
