ch. 14 THEFT

After the incident of the stealth killing and the men who attacked Hao Tian, he immediately resumed his journey. He was sure the villagers he helped would soon know that he had killed the demon that disturbed them.

Hao Tian deliberately hung the corpse of the snake demon on top of the tree for the villagers to see. Thus it was only a matter of time for the villagers to know that Hao Tian had already completed the task they were given.

On the way Hao Tian ran as usual and would sometimes stop to find food or to just bathe in the river that encountered.

After that Hao Tian would go back on his way, the incident continued to repeat Hao Tian did.

It had been four days since the snake demon incident, Hao Tian resumed his journey.

After this trip, he finally arrived in a city called Mouhan. The city of Mouhan is a fairly large city and there is a port because it has a wide sea.

Although the city of Mouhan is not one of the big cities but is still a busy city because many traders, fishermen, and warriors who pass by just stop by or settle in the city of Mouhan.

Hao Tian arrived in front of the gate, and followed the queue to enter the city of Mouhan.

" Before returning to continue the journey, I guess I should find some lodging to rest."

As he began to walk in search of the inn, Hao Tian saw a 10-year-old looking child being chased by a middle-aged man.

The boy had a thin body and shabby clothes, and carried a piece of bread in his hand.

" Stop!" Shouted the middle-aged man who was chasing after the child.

The boy ran as fast as he could but suddenly his foot stumbled over a rock and made him fall.

When he fell, the boy accidentally released the bread he was holding. However he directly dragged his body using his hand towards the falling bread.

As he reached for the bread came a scream from behind him. " The thief!" Said the middle-aged man who was chasing after him.

The child looked back for a moment before eating the bread in his hand in a hurry.

Then the middle-aged man arrived near the child. " Big brat! how dare you steal in my shop, I'll teach you a lesson." The middle-aged man directly hit and stomped on the child's body.

Despite the pain, he still did not stop chewing bread, as if the pain meant nothing compared to that bread.

Seeing that Hao Tian frowned and directly ran towards the middle-aged man and directly pulled him to get away from the child.

" What are you doing? Do you want to kill this kid?" Shouted Hao Tian

" What? Don't interfere, this is our problem!" The middle-aged man walked towards Hao Tian and held onto his collar.

With an angry expression, the middle-aged man then explained that the boy often stole from his shop. Although he was often caught and beaten but never deterred, he would steal again.

" Look, let me compensate you all this time, but let this kid go." Hao Tian explained that the child must have been very hungry and had no other choice.

Hearing that the middle-aged man's anger decreased and nodded slowly, and he asked for three silver coins in compensation.

The boy wanted to say something but he closed his mouth as the middle-aged man looked at him with a sharp gaze.

From that, Hao Tian knew that the amount of loss of the middle-aged man was not that much, but he did not bother about it. The middle-aged man then left while Hao Tian helped the boy to stand up.

" Mister thank you for helping me.." The boy said politely.

" Tell me why are you stealing?" Hao Tian said

The boy then introduces himself as Xu Kai an orphan living in an orphanage. Xu Kai was forced to steal from hunger and bring something for the other orphans.

" Did the orphanage know you stole?" Xu Kai just shook his head.

Hao Tian sighed who saw Xu Kai's actions. He wanted to say that his actions were wrong, but Hao Tian still knew that Xu kai's actions were not entirely wrong because humans could do reckless things in a desperate state.

" Then Xu Kai took me to the orphanage, but before that we have to buy food first for the other children." After seeing the condition Xu Kai Hao Tian immediately knew that there were still many children like Xu Kai.

" Good Sir." Hearing Hao Tian who was going to buy a lot of food for the children in the orphanage made him very useful and respected Hao Tian even more.

Hao Tian and Xu Kai then walked together to find food to take to the Orphanage.

Hao Tian and Xu Kai walked over while conversing, in the conversation Hao Tian knew that if Xu Kai was 13 years old, he looked younger due to malnutrition for the better.

Xu Kai also explained that the orphanage was managed by a middle-aged woman named Yu Jingmi.

The number of children in the Orphanage was also quite surprising for Hao Tian which numbered 68 people, if counted with Xu Kai and Yu Jingmi then the total was 80 people. It was surprising because from Xu Kai's story that their Orphanage was a small Orphanage.

So it must be quite difficult to take care of all the children in addition to caring for only one person, Yu Jingmi.

All the children in the orphanage were the youngest at 4 years old and the oldest at fifteen years old.

After buying a lot of food and storing it inside the space ring belonged to Hao Tian. They will then walk this time to the Orphanage.

After walking for about 30 minutes they finally arrived at a building that was said to be the Orphanage they were headed to.

" This.." Hao Tian was surprised by what was in front of his eyes.
