The Journey To The Brockleheart Sky

The Journey To The Brockleheart Sky
Chapter 19: the look

That morning, fog seemed to cover their camp. Susan came out of the small tent and saw the Back Shadow followers still sound asleep by the fireplace. Some chose to remain bat-like and appeared to stand guard over the trees, some sleeping, some awake.

The candle still shimmered in the tent that felt frozen. From outside here the shadow looks scary. The figure in the tent, not even making a breath sound. Susan occasionally stiffened her own saliva and convinced herself to come closer.

“You haven't slept?” The heavy voice stopped his steps. “Come.” Slowly the shadow inside seemed to shrink and shrink. He knew clearly that Susan was standing in front of the tent.

Susan flicked the edge of the tent door and entered into the resting place of the tyrannical figure. Black Shadow sat on the wooden chair, staring at the door of his arrival with a flat face.

“You don't seem to be asleep, Prof—” Stops with his words, and touches the right ear. Susan continued, “Tuan.”

“You think I can sleep? For what has your daughter done?"

"I-i"

"We won't be able to find the exit without your daughter, Sue.”

“I'm sorry.”

“Your daughter should apologize to me. He was as cunning as his father did. Whether it's Oliver or Herms.”

“Until when will you hate Oliver?”

“If Jennifer can afford to pay her father's debt to me? Maybe I'll consider forgiving all of you.”

“Why should Jenny do it? I'm Oliver's mother, Oliver's wife. I'm the one responsible for what happened in the past."

“Do you think it's no shame when I was defeated by a pregnant woman? Even still in the womb, the boy had already dared to give strength to his mother."

“Who do you mean?”

“Who else if not Miss Quirkell. The dahlia you've been raising for years." He stood up and approached Susan.

“I'm a mother, Sir. I'm Jennifer's mother, and Marry's my daughter, too. You don't deserve to insult my daughter." Susan looked very brave.

“I understand. Love will grow as time goes on."

"All I need is for this door to open, find my daughter and kill Herms."

"You don't want to kill Marry?"

"I'll think about it after his father's gone!"

"But how many times have you come to me with Marry's blood, just to convince me that the girl you're raising is Dahlia. Highest controller."

“I just want you to protect me and take revenge on Herms and his entire family."

“Included, Marry?” Susan nodded. “Then, what did you do first of affection or a greed?”

“I'm greedy. But, I want my daughter more, than Marry."

“Alright, open this forest door and I will find your daughter. After that, obey all my wishes and don't defy like last time."

“I understand."

“If you'd just handed Marry over sooner instead of hiding him in Okrey. I must've gotten rid of Herms for you."

Susan was silent and didn't know what to say. Heart's churning. Was his decision wrong or too late? Obeying Black Shadow was his chosen path. But, to Marry a few years ago. Is that hate or pity? Susan doesn't know.

After marrying Herms Quirkell, Susan is approached by a creature she never expected before. The figure who came to collect his promises and vows.

A few black-robed people were under the window, adding to the gloom. Stanome was that night, even scarier than the night Marry was born.

Black Shadow jumped onto the balcony of the room. The old clock bell that was about to sound, it tampered with just a snap of a finger. That day, Herms wasn't home. It was a great opportunity to meet Jennifer and Marry who were fast asleep in her room.

The arrival of Black Shadow, of course, made Susan start to panic half to death. He had not expected that Black Shadow would come this fast. Even Padma's body has not been found.

“To meet my most loyal student, of course,” he replied walking leisurely towards the bed. "A pleasant life. You enjoying?" he continued touching Jennifer who was sound asleep, glimpsed by the red-haired child who was also asleep. The fingers slowly moved from Jennifer to Marry. The tip of his finger touched the symbol of eternity.

“What are you doing?”

“Taking my treasure,”.

“Who?” Susan tried to calm down. Looking for a way to keep the dark symbol away from his possessions.

“Puteri Dahliamu,” said he touched Marry's head.

Drrr...

An electric shock flowed through his fragile hand. The screams of Black Shadow managed to wake Jennifer up, the shocked child rushed towards the mother and left Marry in bed.

“He Dahlia? But, this feels different, Sue.”

“What do you mean? Go before Herms comes, your strength is not yet perfect to defeat him. My love spell has not succeeded completely, hippno magic still often disappears. And Marry, it's not yet clear that Marry is Dahlia. You have to hide until you're fully recovered."

“You're right. But, do you think I can't beat that crazy student. Herms weakened after Padma's death. Even without hippno magic he's just a lump of boneless meat."

“Professor." Susan still persuaded the figure to leave them.

“Isn't Jenny getting pretty? Let me touch it." Black Shadow reached out, trying to touch Jenny who was hiding behind Susan's body.

“Do not touch my children."

“Are you trying to renege on a promise?” her tan looked at Jenny with a disgusting look, “bring Dahlia to me!!!” her screams swiftly turned a momentary glance at Marry.

The body of the little girl behind Susan lifted up, and arrived before Black Shadow. Jennifer was hysterical. His legs were thrown in all directions trying to balance. Susan started crying. The request and whimper to release her daughter was simply ignored.

Black shadow, the master of darkness seemed to be enjoying Susan's vexed appearance.

Happ.

Jennifer is in her hands. Repeatedly shouting, Jennifer cried in fear.

“Give Dahlia to me, or your beautiful daughter, will forever be a follower of darkness."

“Good. I'll bring back her blood to make sure she's Dahlia. But, please, let me and my two daughters live together."

“Alright,” he said throwing Jennifer to bed. Marry woke up and started crying.

Black shadow walked lightly towards Susan. He whispered the threat that the vampire always feared.

"Never betray me, if you don't want Jenny to be a black vampire. Once again you're trying to protect Dahlia. You will never succeed in revenge and the life I gave you. Will come back to me. Understood?" Lost in the fog.

Susan fell down and started crying. He nodded and moved towards the bed. Calm down Marry and Jenny who were both crying loudly.

"What am I supposed to do?" Susan looked at Mary who was falling asleep. The yellow pajamas on Marry's body looked like they were dirty, several times Susan touched and wiped them, even though there was no stain there.

***

Susan loves Marry, just like Jenny. Who can resist the charm of that sweet child. But, his vow to avenge ex-husband, Oliver Goldstein. Susan arrives at the decision to kill Herms, then runs away with her two daughters.

But his heart and his actions changed. The more days, Herms are getting sweeter. The happy family he had dreamed of, now began to be organized again. His female instincts are alive, forcing him to give up evil intentions for a moment. Susan asks to leave Stanome and move to Okrey.

Hiding Marry from Black Shadow, protecting Jenny from the threat of black magic, regrouping a plan to get everything back on track. Until that day came, where for the first time Marry was injured.

Susan hands Marry's blood to Black Shadow and learns that Marry is Dahlia. His blood, just like his grandmother's. Blood that creates immortality.

The greed attacked Susan. Sacrificing his stepson's life, it didn't seem like a big deal, for the sake of achieving a common goal.
