Chapter 15: The Confidence
Since realizing the meaning of the white-robed grandfather message, Luna began to enjoy the days before the meeting on Friday. He went through the remaining days with great pleasure.
Even on Tuesday, the day he met his grandfather, he did not go to see him. He also did not sell magazines. He tried to enjoy every day with his family and friends as before. He was just going to sell a magazine on Friday, the day he had to sneak into an empty house.
And this is that day. It's now 17:00 and he's driving around selling magazines as usual. He is happy to finally be back to work after a few days off. Finally he was able to meet people and see the routine as usual.
Luna hummed a little while walking slowly. He's going to that crossroad. He thought there was nothing wrong with seeing the old man first.
When he was at the crossroad, he saw a grandfather wearing all-white clothes sitting on a bench in one corner of the intersection near the bus stop.
Luna frowned before crossing the street before finally reaching the place of the grandfather.
Upon arriving, he without much talk directly sat down next to the grandfather. Before long, the situation began to become awkward.
For a moment there was no conversation and only the roar of the cars and the noisy horns were between them.
Suddenly, without any sign, and Luna was still staring at the streets, the grandfather started the conversation with a question that was quite puzzling to Luna.
“You think of something?” tanyakanya.
Luna looked at the street again. Thinking what to answer.
“Um, ti-no, I mean I might, I mean yes” replied Luna finally chose to be honest. There was a lot he kept thinking about and wanting to ask as well. “You... I mean You! You already know all or how?”
“Know what?”
“Know that I am suspicious of you and two people who turned out to be robbers who meet every Friday and always make me lose my way so I don't pay attention around me. That's why you sent that message, right? You know everything, right?”
“Iya. I already know”
“When? And how?” but that question was not answered. The grandfather only glanced for a moment then looked back at the streets.
But after that Luna was surprised by herself. He just realized what he was doing. He even told the grandfather who did not know before. So fat. His inner.
“Ah come. When there is time for me to ask a lot of things even become like this?” Luna finally couldn't stand it.
“Please start” replied grandpa it was cold.
Luna squeaks. Relax, relax. Say it to yourself.
“Alright” says Luna again.
“How do we start with introductions? Okay, my name is Luna Trina Fred” looks like the grandfather was a bit surprised after Luna said her name. But after that his face was back flat. “ if your name... whose name?
“Jin” short answer it makes Luna's forehead wrinkled.
“Jin?” repeat Luna again.
“There is wrong?” grandpa or his name Jin was raised next to an eyebrow.
“I mean, ehm” Luna cleared her throat. “Only Jin? You-I mean you're not called grandpa or anything like that? I mean a-I can't possibly call you-I mean you are so right?” ask her carefully with the sound at bay. In his heart he berated himself for not being able to respect people well even just to say 'You' to people older than him.
“Not everyone can call me that. But you just need to call me Jin. Only Jin. Oh yes and the talk is normal. Like you were talking to someone else.” Jin said flatly but sounded assertive.
“Um, ehm” Luna cleared her throat again. “Alright Jin. Um, yeah sorry in advance over the whole.”.
“Um yes well” Luna inhales deeply as if she is going to dive. Then he exhaled again like he had only been able to breathe for a year. He tried to calm himself for the next time.
“OK, Genie. Can I ask?” ask Luna.
“Better you filled with questions than answers”
“Hah? Why?” Luna tilted her head in confusion.
“Because after the answer there must be a question again”
“Kok can?”
“The evidence is in front of me now” the word makes Luna aware. Once again he sat down, why are you so bad!!
“OK. Back to what I said. I wanted to ask you. Why has it all become so weird lately?” a second after popping the question he regretted his stupid question and cursed at himself. What did he ask? Really stupid. But Jin gave an unexpected answer.
“When you're weird, there's usually something weird going on. But seeing that you handled it well.” he looked at Luna and continued. “I don't think it needs to be asked”
Although the end of Jin's words clearly showed that he was stupid, but Luna could not hide the feeling of pride felt he was praised implicitly. She was embarrassed while misbehaving.
“But it seems like this end is a bit strange. From the moment I noticed you there must have been something” the words made Luna who was smiling shyly instantly petrified without expression. “My advice, you should stick to your true purpose. And rest assured help will come for everyone who has trouble”
“You must know something, right? Tell me everything you know and I also tell you something” bargained Luna.
“Maybe I can give you some advice. But I can't give much of that” Jin said.
“I met a group of people who were planning to rob the national bank of Broside City. I can't let it go. They had a meeting tonight. I will come and take the evidence to report to polis” Luna said quickly as if no matter what the person in front of her said. He told all this to the doubters. But he doesn't care.
“They, dangerous. But I know, they're gonna try to do something that's gonna involve you in their business. You're the child's tight-knit and meddling” Jin stared intently at Luna who was shocked.
“You mean they were on purpose? Just be right. What's my connection to all this? No. gabe. There's nothing at all. Don't joke” said Luna despite the look of fear in her eyes.
“They want to take advantage. That's all I can tell you” Jin got off the bench. But soon there was a hand holding him from behind.
“No. You can't leave first. We need to talk more. I should know more and be ready!” there was a worried tone in Luna's voice. But he still tried not to look afraid and instead gripped harder Jin's hand so as not to leave.
“You're the bravest kid I've met since decades ago I found another kid like you. You should not be afraid of fear. Once forward, you cannot retreat in a war like this. Remember my messages”
Behind them was a large bus that Jin used to ride. Jin then turned to Luna who was staring at him continuously.
“You can always. My bus has arrived. I first” Jin stepped into the entrance greeted by a friendly bus driver.
Before the door closed, Jin turned to look at Luna. He pulled both ends of his lips up. Both ends form an arch. And even though it looks faint, it was the first time Luna saw Jin smile.
