Gavriel and Wildan stared intently at the badly damaged building leaving only the rubble of the building covered in thick moss. Both are currently in the location where Gavriel had witnessed and experienced something very terrible. It was there, in the building that Gavriel met little Briana who was also Kellen, the son of Mr. Hendar and Mrs Jenny. Gavriel's purpose in bringing Wildan here is to search for fragments of lost memories, as well as to find reasons for where and who saved Briana twenty years ago.
"Mr Gavriel, you're fine, right? What about your head?" ask Wildan to make sure. In his suit pocket was a bottle of medicine that he had prepared in case his boss was going to come back in pain. Although already claimed to be cured, but there is no harm not if you remain alert? Wildan doesn't want anything bad to happen to his boss.
"Wil, I'm cured. Stop worrying about me. Okay?" gavriel replied while looking to the side. He then smiled to find that there was such a huge worry on his assistant's face. "Don't worry. I'm fine!"
"I just don't want you to be in pain anymore, sir. This place once left a very dark memory in your life, I'm afraid you will return to memory loss as it has been!"
"Yes I know, but you take it easy. The proof is that nothing has happened to me!" sahut Gavriel then patted Wildan on the shoulder. "I have Briana, Wildan. He's the cure for all the illnesses I've had. So if I ever relapse, you just have to take me away to see him. I guarantee you I'll be cured!"
Wildan chuckles. It's kind of ridiculous what his boss said on this one. Even so, Wildan could not deny the fact that Miss Briana is a cure for the disease of amnesia that always appears when her boss saw something related to the case of kidnapping twenty years ago. Want to not believe, but the reality that is in plain sight says so. Hmmmm.
"We're in?" get Gavriel to break Wildan's daydream. He was already impatient to immediately search for a fragment of memory about his friendship with little Briana.
"Good, Sir. Please!"
With a definite step Gavriel and Wildan walked hand in hand into the building. And the first thing that welcomes their arrival is the emergence of a flock of bats and also wild birds that immediately escape from there. Gavriel's gaze was then fixed on the rest of the police line still attached to one of the rooms in the building. It was there, in that room that Gavriel witnessed firsthand how the other children were so cruelly wiped out.
"Mr Gavriel, if you feel uncomfortable, we better get out. You've just recovered, don't be forced to remember. Okay?" said Wildan who even focused on paying attention to his superiors rather than him seeing the atmosphere in the building.
"There's nothing else I feel but the pain of imagining the suffering these innocent children are going through, Wil. Poor them. We were all starved for days. And once fed, the man gave us stale bread. That bread is also a sign that one of us will be killed soon. Just imagine it. Not eating moldy bread you must be starving. But if you eat it, you must be prepared to lose your life. It's sad, isn't it?" sahut Gavriel reminisces about the sad and gripping times in this place. Because he was ten years old when he was kidnapped, Gavriel can clearly remember all the series of events at that time.
"My man was the victim of violence from his parents, sir. The motive of the perpetrator kidnapping, seizing and then killing children is because he feels jealous to see other children living happily. The offender is not guilty because he is the victim himself. But taking the lives of innocent children is an extraordinarily cruel act. Obviously the laws of the world cannot tolerate his actions. From the information I know, initially all the families of the victims demanded that the kidnapper be sentenced to death only. However, the court rejected this because the kidnapper's psyche was very disturbed. He ended up being treated in a mental hospital, then shortly afterwards died in a way that made people shake their heads!" wildan told the kidnapper's background. Because all this time his superiors can at least hear or see related to events twenty years ago, so everyone deliberately did not tell him about the results of the investigation of the perpetrator. And it is only now that Wildan dared to tell it, even then not all. He was afraid his boss was in shock.
"Whatever the reason for the man's actions is so unenforceable. Children are being killed in a very inhumane way. It's only natural that the victim's parents demand the death penalty!" sahut Gavriel let out a long sigh. A second later suddenly there was a faint smile on his lips. "But Wil, I have to admit, because that was the meeting I was able to meet with Briana. This I'm saying is not because I feel good about the children's deaths, is it. But I feel grateful because it is thanks to tragedy that I and Briana can be together like now. At that time I tried to help him to run from the disaster and let myself be beaten up by the kidnapper. Then God sent a strange illness to where I was finally reunited with the person I had saved in a state of memory forgetfulness. Otherwise, even to death I think I will never be able to heal. I can't trust anyone but you and my family. Right no?"
"Although it's hard to admit it, but what you say there's a point as well. Thanks to your meeting with Miss Briana you can finally accept the past without having to be in pain. Maybe it is true that this is God's way of showing a match line to you, sir," said Wildan, smiling to see the twinkle of happiness on the face of his boss.
"We go in there?" take Gavriel and point to the execution site.
Slowly but surely, Gavriel steps into the room that holds the dark story inside. And slowly all the memories began to appear one by one. However, this time Gavriel responded with a normal course without any drama of pain or fainting.
Honey, look. I now have the strength to accept the bad luck that has happened in the past. You help me pray that I may soon discover why Mr. Hendar and Mrs Jenny did not call you Briana, but Kellen. I promise once I find the reason, I'll take you straight away to meet them. Sure.
"Sometimes God thinks it's weird, Wil. The scenario he made was totally unpredictable" Gavriel said, stroking the wall that had been a silent witness in the room. "God seems to bind our feelings through events and also secrets that have not been revealed. Without her powers, I'm not sure that Briana and I survived the murder!"
"That is the power of God, Lord Gavriel. Therefore we must be grateful for all the good that God has given us" Wildan said.
"You're right. Later after Briana's background was revealed, I intend to build a free foundation for children's mental education. Especially for those who have been victims of violence and also abuse, both physically and internally. Poor them. Because of being victims, they have to turn into monsters. How shiny!"
"I totally agree, sir. And also ....
"And what too?"
Gavriel. He waited further from Wildan's words.
"If it is true that Miss Briana is Mr. Hendar's son, it means you will be the daughter-in-law of an oil mafia, sir" Wildan said, smiling. "This fact makes me understand why Miss Briana's attitude can be so brutal and fear nothing. It turns out because he is ....
Pock
Wildan was speechless as his shoulders were patted by his superior. They stared at each other before finally saying the same word about Briana.
"Briana the mafia boy. Ahhaha!"
