Chapter 19: Plans against the devil

A meeting is in the middle. The kings and the higher-ups of the kingdom gathered to unite forces while declaring war with the demons later. In other rooms, queens, senior wives and their children, they are gathered to know each other or introduce their sons to the people they consider fit for their children. Or you could say they betrothed their child to someone higher in rank than their noble rank, so that their position rose.

While the mothers were introducing their children to higher nobles, or there are noble children who come to other noble children who are lower because the face of the noble child is quite attractive to them. Princess Rose, the first child of King Ronald and Queen Veneza, was alone in a corner of the room, with a beautiful glass that she held.  He was just pensively staring at his reflection from the drink in the glass.

He was still thinking about his circumstances which had not had a fiancee until now, perhaps because he was not the crown prince? Therefore he was free to choose his spouse, unlike his first brother, the prince Nicolas who was the crown prince, and certainly because he would be made king in the future, he was already in a match with a Baron rank girl, who according to the king that Nicolas was close to the girl. Plus the girl's family was quite influential to the royal family.

Thinking about it all, made him even more afraid, next year his youngest brother will enter the academy when he is 17 and he will be 23 years old. That was old enough for her, how could she not find a partner? Alone until the age of 25? 32 years? It was too old for him.

At the moment he thought about all that, some other noble children came, they were around 19 to 22 years old. In fact, some from other kingdoms came to him.

A noble girl came and asked first. "You must be Rose's daughter, right?"

This made Rose even more confused to respond to them, until someone calmed them down and walked in front of them, separating Rose from the noble children.

"Hans?!" Rose was surprised by the person in front of her.

Hans Victor Hearterra, the youngest son of the Hearterra royal family. She is the age of Allenz and Nayaka. One month older than Nayaka. His red hair and glowing yellow eyes, made himself like a friendly and shining child of a normal child.

"Sorry, everyone. My sister was invited by the other princesses to their tea party. So brother, you can leave now, the other princesses are waiting for you." Hans.

Gaining protection from her sister, Rose quickly left the crowd and joined the other princesses. Then Hans, he started to spread his charm, because he used his brother's stage to show himself to others. Because there was no way he would let the people who had gathered because of his brother go without seeing him.

Back in the meeting room, the leaders were serious in this plan, they made a strategy to be able to defeat the demon side that they were going to fight against, although perhaps their strength increased due to the merging of forces. But they are afraid of a demon who did Demon Awaken like Vlad who killed Finn the lion, which is quite feared for other kingdoms.

"By the way, Your Excellency Ronald, after the death of your greatest commander, Mr Finn, have you chosen a new commander?" Ask king Valrius, king of Diamondnia.

Hearing the question, Ronald answered. "Of course, I chose Veronica, the leader of the women's army, as the new commander for Hearterra."

Hearing the name of a woman made the new commander in Hearterra, made the people there surprised.

"By a glass of beer, are you seriously Ronald?! Using a woman as the new commander for your kingdom?" Ask Opheniel, king of Spadeforia.

Nodding. "Of course, if Finn can get Allenz in, then I'll do the same thing." Ronald answered proudly while crossing his arms.

"Ronald, you've gone mad."

"He seriously?"

There were a lot of different responses from the people there. They did not expect Ronald's decision, until Eryk, the king of Clubnesia, stopped the commotion, and asked a question he had been keeping. "Ronald, answer me honestly, who is the young man you carry with you in every war? Who's she?"

Hearing Eryk's question, made the others curious and plugged their ears.

"You mean, the kid in all black clothes, and wearing a Cocketrice skull, and flying like that bug?!" Guess Valrius.

"Yes, that kid I mean." Answer Eryk quickly.

Ronald could only laugh along with Willle, then smile and explain. "Allenz, the son Finn recruited was my brother Arthur's adopted son."

Everyone there immediately frowned, even Eryk to the point of hitting his desk. "What?! That kid is Arthur's son?!"

"Since when did Arthur have adopted children?!"

Started many comments and questions thrown by people there. They did not expect that Allenz was the adopted son of Arthur's former commander Hearterra.

"Has good skill in swordsmanship." Valrius.

On the other hand, Opheniel just massaged his forehead, what was in Ronald's brain all along. "Ronald, how come you put your brother's son, or your own nephew, into the battlefield?"

Hearing Opheniel's question, Ronald answered. "For that, I can't answer it, because it's an internal matter."

In the middle, Eryk stood up and said. "Ronald, how do we use that boy's power in the fight against the demons later, I'm sure we can fight those demons, right?"

Everyone there agreed, especially they already knew the strength of Allenz himself.

Hearing Allenz's power about to be used in the war, Ronald could only sigh heavily, then reply. "Unfortunately, the boy I've removed from the knight squad." Answer in lethargy.

"What?! You brought out someone as great as that?!" Eryk was surprised by the fact that Ronald had taken Allenz out of the knight.

Closing his eyes, Ronald then explained the reason he took Allenz out of the knight. "The reason I took him out, was because after Finn's death, he was under quite bad mental stress, plus the boy considered Finn a teacher during his time as a knight." Ronald's Obviously. "Then, next year he has to go to the academy, with my youngest son. And again, what I love is that he lost his left hand the day Finn died." Ronald's Continues.

Hearing Ronald's reply, Eryk became silent, then sat back down slowly. "Oh, ow... It's a pity."

The meeting went back to how it was, they discussed seriously with the amount of their strength, if put together with the amount of the demon army later.

Opheniel then gave his opinion on the strength of the demon army later on. "If for example this demon army only numbered a little or maybe almost equal the number of our troops. But, if they did Demon Awaken would it be the same? We'll lose too if we do."

Hearing Opheniel's opinion, the others were immediately pensive and disappointed. It was indeed no matter how many demon armies, whether few or many, but if those demons were to do the Demon Awaken would be just the same. Facing just one can kill Finn who incidentally is the most feared person in all four kingdoms. Everyone was silent, they looked at each other.

"...Or will he defend everything for his kingdom, even if you lose, maybe you could even die on the battlefield?"

Finn raised his hand first while the others were silent. "I chose to sacrifice for my kingdom even though I might die, even if not cherished and forgotten."

Seeing Finn raise first, they all raised their hands and chose to fight even though they knew that this might be in vain.

Then someone there asked. "Is it okay to fight in winter like this?"

Others heard it silent again, but someone from the Clubnesian side, a man with dark green hair, sky-blue eyes, his face seemed full of hospitality, but was actually deadly. His name was Lennard De Stefan, leaning back he crossed his arms, then said. "No matter how things go, we'll keep fighting them. Despite rain, snow, storm or any circumstance, we must keep fighting. Are you afraid of dying?" Lennard. "No problem, we all have fears here." He shrugged both his shoulders.

The previous person became silent, and let the others continue the discussion about the war later.

However, one of the Spadeforia officials asked Ronald to bring Arthur back in this war. "Your Majesty Arthur, how do you bring back your brother, Mr Arthur for participation in this war?"

However, the remark instead got an uncomfortable look from Ronald and Hearterra's own side.

Ronald answered immediately. "Didn't you hear? His son had just been traumatized after the war. But now you're asking the boy's father to return to the battlefield. Whilst my sister's wife, who was also my own wife's sister, had asked to keep her husband, Arthur, away from the war." Ronald was firm and very stressful.

The man became silent after Ronald's statement just now.

The people there looked at the person with gazes as if they felt that the person had been stupid, sighing Roland calmed himself down. "But... If you think about it, I think it's good that we ask our strongest ex-soldiers back to join this war."

Everyone was immediately shocked and rejected this, even Would was surprised. Until Valrius stood up and kicked the table. "What?! Though you said yourself didn't involve the former knight through your sister's parable, now why would you even agree to the idea of that fool you just had about?!"

"We're in serious trouble, Val! All four kingdoms will be destroyed without leaving any standing country. If we have the strength of those former knights, it's possible that we can win!"

Opheniel broke them off calmly and spoke. "Ronald, if we increase the strength of the former knights though, we will lose. Because it would take more victims, if only the demons were to rampage it was the end of it all." Reveal Opheniel, then continue. "So you guys calm down, I know we're having the same problem. However, it seems that we do not need a strong army..." Add Opheniel whose talk is rather hanging.

Eryk then spoke. "Then what if you don't need the strength of a knight, Opheniel?"

"...We seem to need an anti-demon weapon." Opheniel.

One of Diamondnia's top officials said that. "Did? Just use light magic, is it hard?"

The phrase was approved by people from the same side, but on the other side could not agree to it.

"Then, what about us? To learn light magic took months or even more years." Reveal one of Spadeforia's top brass.

However, the person who was suggesting using light magic replied. "It's your fault for not learning light magic." He said while chuckling low.

Do not accept, the man from Spadeforia was then angry. "Bad! Pull up your words!"

The result, this even worsened the problem, and made a fuss, the result of this meeting was just nonsense. Some people just keep quiet and think of ways to fight the demons, like the four kings, on the other hand the higher-ups of each country just blame each other and bring up the big war period of the four kingdoms first.

Until Woulle remembered something and asked to calm the current tense situation, Ronald nodded at Valrius, and Valrius simply rolled his eyes. The other two kings immediately closed their eyes tightly, along with the one who noticed the movements of the kings.

Blinded everyone who did not close their eyes, making them panic instantly.

"What light is this?!"

"S-attack!!"

"My eyes!!!"

The knights of the king even pulled their swords from their sheaths, to be on standby even though their eyes were blind. Until the riot made the soldiers who were outside the room enter and found a light that dazzled their eyes.

Until the light faded and they tried to look around them, silence ensued, Eryk then asked Valrius. "Val, is the light gone?"

Valrius. "Sure, you can open your eyes."

Everyone who closed their eyes then opened their eyes and saw several warriors ready with their respective swords.

Valrius then spoke to everyone there. "Is it satisfied?"

No one answered.

Valrius. "Everyone, Mr. Willle is about to speak. So, you guys just calm down. Mr. Willle, please."

Willle then explained about Allenz who knew the location of an ancient place that holds great weapons, such as grenades, bazookas or weaponry that is now owned by the kingdom of Hearterra.

"Did? That's what we have, too." Said one from Spadeforia.

"Please, everybody shut up, and let mister Willle talk." Opheniel.

Continuing his words, Will asked. "Indeed, the weapon is the same, but does it still have ammunition?"

The men who had similar weapons replied that they had no ammunition because they had run out, and had not used it.

Then, Willle answered. "I'm talking this way, because I think Allenz must know the location of ancient ruins that hold similar weapons and certainly not only one place."

Ronald was quite impressed by the phrase Wouldle, and went along to explain. "Yep, the kid thinks he can help us, maybe not in a battle later, but he might help us in getting new weapons."

Eryk then interrupted. "So, is this our last option? And hope that kid shows us a location that holds great weapons for us?"

Then it was answered by Opheniel. "If this can help us in the war, I'll agree on this."

Everyone agreed to it, and would ask Allenz, where the possible location holds modern weapons that can defeat demons. The meeting was over, with the kings preparing compensation for Allenz if he cooperated.

Three days later, Ronald came to the city of Nevelheim, unofficially of course, and maybe even suddenly. This caused quite a commotion from the residents of the city when they found out that the king was visiting.

Mayor Nevelheim then welcomed the king to his city. "Your Majesty, welcome to this city, sorry I didn't change– I mean, I'm surprised by your sudden arrival."

While riding his horse, the king explained his arrival. "It's okay, I just want to visit my sister's house."

The mayor simply fell silent and saw the king's convoy move away from him.

At Arthur's house, Allenz is watching Zen learn his magic. Zen applies the way Allenz learns magic by focusing on one element. Then, the magic chosen by Zen is darkness, on the grounds that it turns out that there are very few dark magic users. Assisted with Nayaka and Teresa in giving instructions to Zen.

"It's kind of weird, teaching someone more mature than you to learn magic." Teresa.

"Hahaha, Nayaka feels the same way." Nayaka said with a dry laugh.

On the other hand, Anya was cutting vines on the stone fence of her house, then saw the arrival of Ronald with his convoy. Standing up and tidying up her clothes by slashing her long skirt. "Welcome, Your Highness, to our little home." Welcome Anya by lifting her skirt slightly while crossing her right leg behind the other leg.

Receiving a welcome, Ronald replied. "Hahaha there's no need to go down like that. And thank you for the welcome." Ronald got off his horse.

Open the fence and let Ronald and his convoy into his yard. "Please come in, and I'm sorry if we're a little noisy."

"It's okay, I also came informally."

Zen who was busy controlling his magic came to a halt when he saw some people coming, and asked the three of them. "Hey, who came that?"

Hearing Zen's question, the three turned around and saw the king who had come to visit.

"Why did the king come here?!" Teresa was surprised.

Zen who was shocked, frowned. "King, did you say?!"

Anya then called Allenz, as the king was about to meet. "Allenz, son, come here."

Hearing herself being summoned, Allenz goes and asks Nia to continue practicing Zen magic.

Allenz then entered the house, along with Ronald and Willle, followed by several soldiers. The rest of the soldiers guard outside.

Inside, Ronald was treated with a squeeze of apple juice for himself and the others.

"This, please. Sorry if I could just prepare this apple juice." Say Anya put a wooden glass on the table of the living room for those inside.

"It's okay."

After distributing the drink, Anya left Allenz with Ronald and the others.

Ronald suddenly asked Allenz about his hand which was now like iron.

Allenz explained that someone was helping him and gave him his left hand now.

Then Ronald took his drink, and drank the apple juice. "Ah... I feel nostalgic."

"really?" Ask Allenz.

"Of course, when Arthur and I were young, we visited this city, and for the first time tasted the apple juice that your mother and Vanesa made when you were young, they were the best juice-making girls of the time, so no wonder me and Arthur chose them as our future wives, hahaha."

"That was your first meeting?"

"Of course, even when I was a teenager, I was surprised to learn that your mother and her brother were the greatest adventurers in the capital back then. And you know what my wedding dowry is with the queen?"

Curious Allenz asked doubtfully. "W-what?"

"Segentong juice containing various fruits, hahaha! God, I still remember that silly dowry!"

Besides Ronald, who was nostalgic, Allenz and the people inside could only smile wryly at Ronald's behavior.

"J-so, what is the point of His Majesty coming here and meeting me for?" Ask Allenz.

Trying to calm himself down while laughing earlier. Ronald explained that Allenz knows where the kumo ruins that hold great weapons to fight the devil later.

However, Allenz replied that he no longer knew of such a place. It was disappointing for Ronald. Because it was their hope to fight the demons.

"But Your Majesty, I know a person who knows such a place."

Hearing that, Ronald became excited, and asked who it was. And Allenz pointed at someone from the window, and he pointed at Zen, where Zen was bullied by Nia by continuing to shoot him with water magic.

"Are you sure? And who is he?"

"She was my acquaintance, and I think she could answer your question, and also the same person, who made my left hand." Allenz.

"Alright, please call him."

"Okay, Your Honor, but maybe it'll be a little while."

"No problem."

Allenz came out and spoke to the already soaked Zen, and personally, alone. He explained the situation of the four kingdoms who now needed their anti-demon weapons. Of course, it surprised Zen, when in the past Allenz hated these New Humans enough, Allenz also explained during his 16 years with them, making himself aware that these New Humans must indeed develop, he said, and only the two of them were Old Human. The two have also been mixed with these New Humans. After a long discussion, Allenz returned and said that Zen wanted to help them and showed them two places of ruins that stored the weapon.

"Luckily, Zen has access to all the satellites, so I can see where the armory is." Say Allenz quietly.

In this way, the human side had hope of fighting the demons. After that, Ronald returned to the capital, and it was quite unfortunate that he did not meet with Arthur, as a result of having to tell about this to other kingdoms. Before his departure, Ronald presented Allenz, Nayaka, and Teresa with an expensive ring for them later, for Zen, he was given a special position, receiving recognition from the king and some money.

After the departure of the king, Allenz issued his complaint. "What the fuck? Time to get a ring and a wedding, huh."

While Zen was still confused by the intent of 'confession from the king'. "I became... Sir Zen? What does that mean?"
