Thanatos: War of the Fractions
Six. Surprise Shadow.
“Griesta, my son, forgive mother.” The grieving mother's face, quickly changed into a face covered in blood, the scenery around me turned red, my body could not be moved, my voice was choked, I was struggling, trying to save my mother. “Damn it! Mama! Back!” my thinking. Then a woman with long red hair, with a striking blue shirt approached my mother from behind, her hands touching the mother's neck, with a knife in her grasp, her grinning grinned me, then as fast as lightning I saw my mother's head lying before me, and a man's laughter resounded.
“BRASS!!!!”
I woke up from my nightmare, my back was hot, as if it was burning. I woke up, today should still be a holiday. I saw my watch, 2:30 in the morning, I want to go to the park. I opened my closet, then put a few change of clothes in my bag, everything I needed was already in the bag, so I just needed my shoes and jacket.
“Ah, I will sleep with a jacket.” I thought, then I walked to the bathroom to wash my face. When I passed the mirror in the sink, my eyes almost jumped out, I tried to pinch myself, then I slapped my cheek. I have wings. I, a human, have wings on my back.
I immediately changed my pants, put on my shoes, and went to the balcony. A gentle breeze and icy cold air started my morning, my wings were black, like my jacket, so I intended to use them to fly. I know it's not entirely possible, but I don't think it's entirely impossible, I mean, come on.
“I fight werewolves, meet gods, and I can't fly with the wings? Don't joke.” I feel a strange sensation from my back, as if I have a hand. I tried to unfold it, it got bigger, this way I probably flew bigger. I folded it up again, then jumped to the roofs of other houses and apartments, my wings didn't feel heavy, it just felt like I was carrying my school bag. When I reached the tallest building I could find, I stood by its side.
I jumped, as soon as I fell I reopened my wings, I was pulled up, then I tried to flap, I flew! I tried to get used to it for a moment, after maybe 5 minutes I had started to be able to fly in all directions. I took my bag I put down, and I tried to fly to the park. Honestly, it's fun, knowing I can travel wherever I want when the moon comes out of hiding, and the humans are exhausted. “I admit Gaia, this is a great blessing!” I said as I darted through the night sky. Not until 1 minute I had arrived at the park, I decided to see if the blessing given by Gaia was just a wing, or something else. Slowly I landed in the middle of the garden, I imagined my wings folded and became one with my jacket, then sure enough, my wings were gone.
I took off my jacket and went to the old man's stall, the stall was still there, but it was empty, as if no one was there. I threw my bag on the roof, then I did my routine, push-ups, runs, sit-ups, pull-ups, and a few others.
I went back to the stall after I finished doing my set, then took my bag. At least it's only 4 am, “ah I hope there is a match opponent here.” I said while exhaling, I imagine fighting shadow, must be exciting.
Suddenly the shadow in front of me became blacker, blacker and rose into a human figure, which I could not believe, similar to me. “Moreover this.” I stood, the figure approached me, I was ready to fight, but he looked down respectfully, then opened his horse, “ah, this is what I imagined earlier.” I also prepared myself, then he attacked me with a kick, I managed to dodge, he didn't have much of a gap. But it wasn't me.
I took a swipe, as he kicked me deeper into the distance of his attack, the closer I got the less pain. I hit him in his stomach, “Sial! Like hitting a rock!” he retreated, then used his hand to hit me in the stomach as well, before I took his hand, then I turned my body and kicked his head, “Until when can you hold on?”
When he retreated, my foot grabbed his stomach, he was pushed back, then I ran and jumped, before he could stand properly I clasped his head, and then I thrust it into my kneecap. He then fell silent and disappeared. It was nice to have a fighting friend, I finally realized the true blessing of Gaia, I could create anything from my mind.
With a smile on my face I change my clothes, then I pack everything up and I grow my wings again, “where do you think I should go before I go to Danny's house huh?”
The sky had started to blue, I immediately darted over to Danny's house, imagining what he got from the goddess who called me that stupid kid. Something I can't get out of my mind, if we can get this from Gaia, means I land slowly on the roof of the apartment near Danny's house, I don't want to risk this ability being known by others, “can I end up on the trial table.” I hid my wings then went down to the ground and walked casually to Danny's house.
When I arrived at the gate after crossing the street, Danny's mother was seen rushing out of the house, “Ah! Gree!” he said as he closed his gate, “just enter, today all the adults are gathered in the city hall, so maybe Kris will also come later.” he then patted my head and went in a hurry to the city hall. Danny's parents were his mother, his father worked with my father, and so were Kris's parents, so Danny's father had been out of sight for a long time, but not as long as my parents.
I opened the gate, and slowly stepped my foot, “I do not want to wake the fool.” I closed the gate and I entered his living room. After closing the living room door, a loud shout rang out from Danny's room, I was alert, I quickly ran and I opened the door of his room.
“You why?!” I was stunned to see the strange sight before me. There was an iron man in his room. He walked over to me with both hands raised, like he wanted to strangle my neck. “Backed! Where's Danny?!” I imagine a sword in my hand, “ayo work!” a black sword emerged from the shadow of my hand, I immediately clasped it and brushed it aside, this is light and hard! When he panicked to see what I was doing, I kicked him to the ground, I pulled a sword into his neck, “Where is my friend Danny?!”
“Good, wait.” Danny was seen closing his eyes, and little by little his body returned as before. I took out my note, “Danny, shapeshifter.” I wrote on my note. “If you what G?” Danny asked with a curious face, “call thing?” I shook my head, my face I saw growing curious.
“Shadow formation?”
“Recent less.”
“Science of sword?”
“Not.”
“Then?”
I looked at Danny, “creation of things, Gaia is too good at giving blessings.” I said, “I was looking for her limits, would you help me?” Danny nodded his head in agreement, we walked into the kitchen for breakfast, Danny couldn't cook, so I turned on the stove, broke the eggs, cooked whatever was available in the fridge.
After 5 minutes of struggling with the stove, I served my homemade food to Danny, “Only potluck cuisine, do not complain.” Danny gawked, “I will not complain if my breakfast every day like this.” he said while cutting and chewing the food I made, his face while eating was disgusting, disgusting, I smiled small and tidied up the kitchen for his mother Dan. “hey Gree,” I turned, “Why?”
“What is the name of this cuisine?”
“Hah?”
“Asolah.”
“Gyudon sunny side up.”
“After a meal let's practice your blessings, I want to visit Kris.” I said to Danny who had just finished his meal. He just nodded, then we walked to his room, I closed the windows, the doors, the curtains, everything that allowed people to look inside, to keep watch. I turned on the light, then told Danny to stand in the middle of the room. “Try you imagine your hand turning into something, hammer maybe?” I walked and sat on his bed.
Danny seemed to think hard, then his serious face turned into a naughty smile at me. As Danny's body grew fur, he rolled his body like a fetus, a blinding light appeared, blinded, and I couldn't believe my own eyes. Danny turned into a bird, with black and yellow feathers, his appearance was like an eagle the size of an adult human. “Heh, just so?” I opened the door and walked out into the courtyard followed by Danny the bird behind me.
I spread my black wings, “Let's go to Kris.”
