TERRA EMPIRE: ON THE EVE OF WORLD WAR
EPISODE 53 : COOPERATION OMNITEC – INDONESIA – NUSAPOWER

“You don't like tea, Mr Balin?” reprimanded the minister saw Balin Pati shaking.

Balin responded with a polite smile, “Not really! This afternoon I had too much coffee. So forgive me if you want to wait. Coffee mixed with tea tastes somewhat make my stomach nauseous.”

“Wah, forgive me! Should I get you another drink? White water maybe?”

“It's okay, Mr Minister! I just need a moment to remove the taste of coffee on the tongue.”

“You regret not having time to taste. The taste of this tea is very good, although maybe a friend who accompanies your drinking is too serious,” again Mr. Janus teases Balin. The Prefect just turned his lips unbeknownst to Taufiq Dault who was also enjoying his tea.

After putting the tea cup back on the table, Mr. Janus continued the interrupted chat, “Indonesia consumed the largest oil and coal in Southeast Asia. Together with other Southeast Asian countries contribute to the consumption of up to 11% of the world's energy. Imagine if you continue to grind oil and coal from the bottom of the earth while experts say that the renewable energy source will run out in thirty years.”

“We will lose foreign exchange of course,” Taufiq Dault responded.

“Slightly-many you may already feel the consequences to cities in the country. Earthquakes, soil erosion, it is possible that a city can collapse in the future.entahlah...is indeed it is time we change it so that this earth continues to survive.”.

“That's terrible! But how does it compare to nuclear hazards?”

“Indeed I never mentioned it in the slightest on the proposal, because throughout my career developing a nuclear-based company never happened anything like that, when we know the right technology and system to handle it.”

Taufiq Dault smiled, “I believe it. Omnitec Resume is amazing. Build and operate nuclear reactors in America, UK, Japan, China, Russia.”.

“Iran!” Mr. Janus added.

“Ah, yes... Iran,” Taufiq Dault nodded happily. “Show your company is not racist like western companies in general.”

“Business is creating the well-being of many people, no matter if they are white, black, or yellow, Christian, Buddhist, or Islamic. Because once people are prosperous, I know I can profit from them. As simple as that.”

“You're right! I love that principle!” Taufiq Dault raised his thumb. “Unfortunately there are still obstacles from the Act for you to invest and build the reactor in our country.”

“ That Capital Restrictions Act? Which states foreign nationals should only own shares of no more than ten percent in Indonesia?”

“Yes, that law,” the Minister nodded. “And that foreigners should cooperate with local partners so that the transfer of knowledge can be done.”

Mr. Janus smiled, “I expected it. Therefore, I invite Mr. Balin to meet you. Mr. Balin is a potential partner that I want to join in Indonesia.”

“Oh, so?” the minister's face looked disappointed. “I think you haven't got a local partner. I have actually selected some of my acquaintances that you can make into consideration.”

"Nuclear technology is a complicated thing. I don't want to entrust it to a local partner who I know has no experience with anything nuclear. And I think Mr. Balin is not a new person in the energy field.”

“Yes, I know! I know your company, Mr. Balin! Nusapower, although I don't know yet if you understand nuclear.”

“I started getting involved with this technology while building a nuclear reactor in Seattle, working with Omnitec as well.”

“With the flag of Nusapower?”

“Perth Oil & Energy.”

“You're the owner? I just found out that company has Indonesians?”

“I happen to be of mixed blood. My father is Javanese, my mother is Samoan,” Balin replied. “Time Mr. Janus contacted that Omnitec will build a nuclear reactor in Indonesia I am very excited to participate.”

“OK, clear for me!” the Minister nodded and then confirmed to Mr. Janus. “So Omnitec wants to hand over the technology and funds via Nusapower?”

“That's what we're here for,” Mr. Janus nodded, though,

“The government doesn't need to spend money on that, does it?”

“Thirty percent large amount compared to that given Freeport, of course,” Balin compiles.

“That the government needs to provide as a share of thirty percent is only a facility in the form of the Energy Act, licensing facilities, and the region to build the reactor,” Mr. Janus continued.

The face of the Minister of Energy was about to rush to give approval before he remembered one more thing that needed to be clarified, “And what about the time of his cooperation contract? We only want to give you half of the period you requested.”

“Twenty-five years?” Mr. Janus frowned.

“Twenty-five years operational counted. Not with development.”

“How about making it thirty years? Calculated as the development time at the beginning and the transition time to local partners?”

Taufiq Dault smiled then reached out his hand, “Agreed!”

Mr. Janus returned the minister's post, “Good! This will be a new history, cooperation Omnitec-Indonesia-Nusapower.”

“Salut!” Balin raised his teacup…

Fifteen minutes later, the two left the Minister's official house after a short chat and finished the tea and snack served. Mr. Janus and Prefect Pati went into Lexus and Balin could not bear to comment, “You see his face that is more confident when you see the vehicle you are riding?”

“That's the power of impression, Prefect Pati!” Mr. Janus laughing.

“Which I role from you, if you really want to show the impression why you have to go down alone to talk to the Minister? Wouldn't it be more impressive if you had enough to negotiate with the President alone? Technical negotiations with the Minister of Energy, you can have Director Omnitec do it.”

“Joyo Wibowo's request so I can give input about his minister?”

“I rate him opportunist. He looked disappointed when he heard the project was solid. There is no possibility for his proposal to come in for you,” Balin commented.

“And if only he knew how much profit was made from this business, and how to run it, surely he would ask for a longer time.”

“Or a larger percentage. They will definitely ask for that after the cooperation period ends. Gluttony has always been a problem of mankind on the mainland above.”

“Leave it. Our goal will be to secure the sunda trough and reduce energy consumption,” said Mr. Janus. “At least our goal has been half successful. The rest of the business let us think about it later.”

“But I'm sorry in advance that I can't stop thinking about this.My stomach is hungry and that damn minister just gave us tea with a snack,” Balin grumbled. “Is he not aware it's dinner time?”

Mr. Janus laughs, “Balin Pati is always frank about the state of his stomach.”

“We've been friends for decades, Mr. Janus! So how could I keep something from you.including my hungry business.”.

“It just so happens that I'm hungry too. How about I treat you to something quick to eat?”

“Cheese Burger?”

"Cheese and French fries.”

 “Don't forget the soda!”

“Fill the stomach with coffee, tea, then soda? You're going to kill yourself, eh?”

“Alright, mineral water only then,” said Balin upset, but he did not linger pouting, his grin widened when Lexus silver belonged to Mr. Janus swerved into McDonald's drive-thru on the side of the road
