Something Beautiful

Something Beautiful
Chapter - 49

Everyone smiled as Lisa walked down the stairs dressed in a thick satin light blue with wide bisban studded with pearls, diamonds and blue zircon stones, with a low box-shaped neckline and arms that extend at the bottom. Lisa looks more beautiful. Her milky white skin seemed to be in harmony with the light blue color of her dress.

Boo opens the door for her as she has done thousands of times throughout Lisa's life, but today, when she is ready to leave for the large gothic-style church where she is to be married to Yugyeom, she is, the old man's friendly face flashed a smile and then he bowed deeply.

Boo's farsighted eyes looked teary as Lisa turned around and wrapped her hands around the man's neck to give him a hug. "Take care of yourself" whispered the man in his ear, "and please don't mess up your dress." He always warned Lisa about it and Lisa felt her teary eyes begin to blur. This old servant who never left him. How good.

This old man, his wife, and Uncle Monty, were the only family he had in England. Her mother had sold their house in Morsham and had been traveling for a long time visiting the islands, so she wasn't here to see Lisa get married. Roseanne and her husband are expecting their first baby, which is expected to be born soon, so she can't even come to London. But at least Uncle Monty was here to let him go. Lisa was so grateful, at least she wasn't really alone. And even though Jisoo has just found out that she is pregnant, her pregnancy is still not obvious, so she can be a bridesmaid for Lisa.

"Are you ready, honey?" uncle Monty asked with a beaming face while extending his hand. Lisa nodded with a smile towards her uncle. However, Lisa immediately grimaced to see the look on her uncle's face. Lisa knew her uncle would be the easy target of old Mrs Kim again this morning.

"Be careful not to step on the end of Lisa's dress" the Lady Kim warned loudly, staring at Uncle Monty's piercing white hair until the end of his black shoes were glistened. For three days, the woman lectured Uncle Monty on what to do, her duties during the wedding ceremony, and the importance of being clear-minded, so that the man was now subject to her. Suddenly the grandmother's eyes narrowed suspiciously looking at the reddish hue on her round cheeks.

"Sir Monty," he cried with narrowed eyes, "have you had a whiskey this morning?"

"Of course not!" lightning Uncle Monty with surprise. "Can't drink whiskey. There was no drinking, no one," he said, puffing his chest like an angry rooster, even though he had been drinking beer all morning.

"Yes," the old lady sighed impatiently. "Just remember what I told you. Once you've accompanied Lisa to the altar, you should leave her there and return to your seat. You'll sit next to me, and won't move until I get up and step out of the alley. Everyone has to stay seated until we're done. That clear?"

"I'm not an idiot, you know that, madam. I'm a blue-blooded knight."

Uncle Monty got on the train and looked at his nephew with agonizing eyes, intending to ask for help. Then somehow that glare turned into a strange look, which clearly said, I don't understand how you can live with this very chatty old tiger, my son.

Lisa smiled in response to her uncle's change between suffering and also amazed at Lisa's toughness in the face of old Kim's tough attitude.

In addition, Lisa knew, and her uncle also knew, that the red hue on the man's cheek was proof she had drunk quite a lot this morning. Maybe a bottle of whiskey or beer I don't know, Lisa can just shake her head.

Lisa sits leaning against the soft seat of the luxurious train that will take her to her future husband, looking out the window to enjoy the sights and sounds of the streets of London. Jisoo Jeon was in a different carriage to her. She was on the front train accompanied by her husband, as well as Seungkwan who would be the groom's companion for Yugyeom.

Behind and in front of the two carriages, the bridesmaids with various luggage, were all heading to the same church. They, Lisa thought with a grim smile, making the streets jammed to several kilos of meters in length. This made him a little distracted, he did not particularly like to make this kind of commotion.

Strange, Lisa thought, how nervous, scared, and passionate she would be to marry Mingyu. Fifteen months ago, he walked into the quiet sitting room to fuse his life with Mingyu, as his legs trembled and his heart pounded so hard that it almost exploded. A feeling he could not fully understand. He had even felt it from the night before his marriage to the tall man.

However, here, when he was about to marry Yugyeom in an hour in front of thousands of upper-class citizens, he felt ordinary, unusually calm, resigned. Not scared, not excited...

At first glance, somehow, Lisa became thinking of Mingyu. Not intentionally thinking about it. Do you know the feeling? Somehow describe it. Some kind of hunch. One feeling made him think of Mingyu. But Lisa herself did not understand what kind of feeling it was. Lisa doesn't know either. Not longing, not hate, not wanting to meet, just a thin beat and he knew for sure it was about Mingyu. What was? Lisa doesn't understand either. And for a moment he recalled his feelings about 'something beautiful'.

Lisa hurriedly brushed off that thought. Perhaps she was only thinking because a moment ago accidentally, Lisa had compared her current marriage to her previous marriage to Mingyu. He was sure that was the answer. However, Lisa still felt uneasy. Not about the wedding. But about Mingyu. Lisa turned back on her mind. He did not want to make a mistake that would make a mess that would not be liked by the grandmother. Lisa closed her eyes for a moment. Take a deep breath, try to calm down.
