XI. NURBAYA FLED TO JAKARTA
Although the day is almost seven in the morning, but in the port of Bayur Bay, it is not yet clear. In hidden places, under wooden trees, it was still dark.
Some workers who walk to the port to make their living, still sheathed in sarong cloth, so that they do not get hit by the cold morning wind.
From afar, from the east, there were the sounds of cuttlefish and gibbons, as the man who was cheering, cheering, welcoming the arrival of the sunlight, which began to illuminate the forest, his dwelling place.
In fact, to the east there are some red rays, radiating from behind the mountain, which fences the port of Bayur Bay, as it is about to penetrate the thick clouds. In the sea, there was dew, like smoke, hanging over the water, slowly moving westward.
From within this fog arose a few hookboats, which came from the sea, sailing slowly ashore, carrying fish that could be hooked at night. The wind was calm, the sea was calm.
To the west there is still a side moon, high above the sky, and its light, increasingly faded, as silver has not yet been gilded.
Even though it is still morning, but in Bayur Bay it is already by those who want to sail, leave the city of Padang or deliver them, who want to migrate to other countries; because on that day there was a ship that was about to leave for Java, at eight in the morning.
Workers, noisily loading and unloading goods; storm crews preparing and working, passengers, running around and down, as afraid to miss.
In a shop, in Bayur Bay, an old man appeared, intermittently looking out and peeking here and there, afraid to show himself.
He went back into the tavern, and said to a young woman, standing behind the cupboard, "It seems that no one knows about our journey, for now, it is, there is no one who I know."
"Luckily," the young woman replied, "but it is also good to see outside. Who knows, maybe our journey is peeped people too."
The old man went outside the shop and walked to and fro, pretending to see this and that, but his eyes peered all over the place and watched all the people he saw.
After ringing the first ship's flute, they came out of the store, went quickly to the ship, and went up on the deck, looking for a hidden place and remained there.
Unbeknownst to them, were two men, who peeked at all their behavior from behind a warehouse.
After these two men had realized that the one who had fled to the ship was the victim, one of them said to his friend, "Now you shall go home, Swordsman Three!
Give your vision to Engku Datuk Meringgih, and tell him, I will follow them with this ship to Jakarta, to obey his orders and will demand some knowledge, he said, which is useful for our target here.
After all, I was there, akao looking for some acquaintances and students, who like to enter per-group of us."
"Alright, Brother Pendekar Lima," replied Pendekar Tiga, "but is Brother shopping?"
"There is, for a while," said Pendekar Lima anyway. "If it's less, I'll ask you from Jakarta."
Then from that, divorce these two. Pendekar Tiga returned to the city of Padang and Pendekar Lima walked slowly to the base.
After ringing the second flute and the bridge was about to be lifted, he jumped aboard, then hid under the deck. Not a few days later, the anchors were lifted and the ship sailed, leaving the Bayur Bay.
After the ship came out of the port of Bayur Bay, the woman who had fled, dared to get out of the place where she was hiding; then looked to and fro, looking for a good place. Finally got him somewhere, near the chaplain's room.
The man who was with him, spread out his mat and opened a cloth recliner, which he had brought to the woman.
"Now please my heart a little, Mr. Ali," said the woman, after sitting on the mat. "But really so, my worries have not disappeared; as I am still followed by reinforcements.
Therefore, well Mr. Ali try also later to walk everywhere pretending to look for nothing and be seen really, do not know the people of our journey and are not followed by our people."
"All right, rich Nurbaya. Later the servant went to check, even though in the thought of the servant, no one knew per-our streets and no one followed us" replied Ali.
After sitting down, Nurbaya said, "Pak Ali, have you sent a wire letter to Samsu, so that we are welcomed in Tanjung Periuk?"
"Here, Rich Man, yesterday. But even though there is no one in Tanjung Periuk, it's okay, because the servant has been used to Jakarta first, when it became an opas, carrying patients," said Ali.
"Itul, but it is also good to know our arrival, so that a place is provided for us" said Nurbaya also. "Yes," replied Ali. "But aren't the Rich Hungry? Kali hasn't eaten anything yet!"
"Truly my stomach began to sound, asking for rice," Nurbaya said with a smile. His heart grew more cheerful, because it could leave the city of Padang with no one to know and because it remembered the meeting with his lover Samsulbahri.
"Let's wait a minute, I ask for eggs and coffee" said coachman Ali, then left. No matter how long it takes, he returns with a few eggs and two bowls of coffee.
Meanwhile, Nurbaya had taken out some rhombuses and ate other foods from within her chains, and then ate both of them.
About an hour after that, a shipwreck came, asking for a shipping letter. When he came near Nurbaya and saw her the beauty of this woman, he whispered with her tap, in Dutch, "What do you think of this woman, Ludi?"
..."This is actually a rose from Padang" replied Ludi....
"Could you persuade him? A dozen beers of wages," said the nauseaim anyway.
"Try around; but apparently he's a good man; certainly hard to approach. In addition, there are those who take care of him" replied Ludi.
"If not quite a dozen, I will add another half a dozen," said the nauseaim anyway, glancing at Nurbaya, "His cheek is sunken when he speaks and the mole is on his cheek, added heartfelt."
"Let me try" replied Ludi.
All these conversations were heard and understood by Nurbaya and it was very hateful to see both of them. But he was angry, so that he would not be persecuted by them.
After reaching Ludi and Mualim it to Nurbaya, then asked this krani, "Where will this go?"
"To Jakarta," answered Nurbaya in short.
"There's a teak?" ask Ludi anyway.
..."Here" answered Nurbaya, giving her the ship's letter....
After being torn by Ludi, he said, while returning the teak, "Why stay here? Below, there is a better place. If you like, I'll choose."
"Thank you! Let us be here, for here near the captain if there is anything, may be quick to face him."
Hearing this answer occurred to Ludi straightly; but soon he said also, "If there will be rain or waves, it will be wet here."
"Why, we're not salt, crushed by water. If there really is a big wave in the future, we look for a good place in our minds" replied Nurbaya, looking elsewhere.
After seeing Nurbaya turn her head, go these two ship employees, check the letters of other passengers. "What did I say? said Ludi. "Indeed from afar was evident to me, such a woman as a dove: apparently tame, but hard to catch."
"No matter, Ludi; if you can't do well, hard. Make sense! Lost my spirit seeing her eyes and that calm look. If I get it by you later I will find the sense so that your salary is added." said the nausea.
"Well, I'll try too; but if you can't, don't get angry" Ludi replied.
After the death of these two employees left, said by Nurbaya to coachman Ali all their conversations.
"Don't be afraid" said coachman Ali, "later I will be on guard. If you dare also he bothers us just stir it to the ship captain."
When the wind was calm, the sea was calm. The face of the water, is as a large glass that glitters in the sunlight. From the southern end of the sky to the northern end of the sky, there is nothing else in sight, but a vast plain, which is blue in color.
Only at the stern of the ship, the water as boiling at the wheels of the ship twisting. The ship sailed as if gliding over a flat plain, as drawn by a magic rope, leaving its trail lined with white lines and getting bigger and bigger.
To the north and to the west, there are several small islands lined with rows. The weather is clear, the sky is clear everywhere. No matter how far away from the ship, there appeared to be fish jumping, as playful romps.
Some jumped as a tinker away in shock of being breached by the ship. From a distance look dolphins, swim in accompaniment, briefly arise, briefly lost. The seagulls are white in color, flying here and there.
Some were staking fish off guard, floating themselves on the face of the sea; some were motionless from their place as suspended in the air, but suddenly plunged down, and, it reached above the water with its swift flight, as if an arrow had been released from its busumya.
When he flew he rooftop, he barked a fish in his beak. There was also a floating snatching his food with his finger.
No matter how long it sailed, escape the land to the east of the eye, lost behind the edge of the sky which is almost limitless with the sea.
Where the eye looks, there is nothing else in sight but water, covered by a curved sky. When it felt right by the little Nurbaya herself, because while the big ship was, it was as if a grain of sand in the sahara desert apparently.
The greatness and power of God that made the universe of this universe, the more it felt and the worse his heart when he remembered it, could not run anywhere, other than on the ship, he said, if anything happens in this sea; out of this little place, death awaits him.
It is true by him, that the place of his life depends, no matter how big. On the ship that is life, but beyond that, death. "Will I return to land?" pikimya in his heart. "On land that's not dangerous."
Apparently he had forgotten that the man died more on land than in the sea.
After nightfall, the bright lights on the ship were illuminated by electric lights. The wind was blowing from the south, refreshing all the sailors of the ship, who had worked so hard that day.
After the meal, board a few clerks and ship employees, from second grade, onto the deck; each carrying his own music. Someone swiped the violin, someone picked the guitar.
mendolin, keroncong and some are blowing flutes, while the good voice, singing keroncong and setambul songs, and chanting reciprocally, as below:
"Where to go, where,
from Japan to China.
Don't be angry I asked,
whose flowers do you have?"
"Who has," cried Ludi, telling his singing friend. The second man interrupted the pantun, "Fruit chops, what is the cure for a wounded heart?" Then another one came along:
"Bajangs covered in silk, the,
the burnt bones smell very hot.
Seen easy to hold difficult, though,
as the moon above the sky."
"That's it!" yelled Ludi anyway. Apparently he was just good at cheering. "Pull, Jacob! Don't be shy!" The booby was answered by another:
"Where did leeches come from,
from the rice fields down to the times
Where does love come from,
from the eyes fell to the heart."
This pantun is interrupted thus, "Oleleleh City of Kings; if you may take it."
"Ei.. ei don't!" ludi also said, "Don't rob people of their own!"
Then the first man stood up:
"Space of speed boats,
boat to Surabaya.
Let's forget the cloth and the clothes, please,
don't forget about me.
"Who is that?" sounds like someone asking.
"My sister" replied Ludi.
Indeed, this song of the keroncong and Setambul, when played with such sounds, in the light of the moon, in a desolate place, as on the ship at that time, is very melodious, give pleasure to everything that hears it.
That is a song that always attracts young people who like to play music and do not get bored they sing it.
However, because playing this song is often a bad person, in a quiet place, at a distance of the night, sometimes with a bad intention, this game happens, less liked by good people.
Therefore, it was very hateful for Nurbaya to hear the sounds and their pantuns, and she pretended to sleep, while covering her face and ears, so as not to hear them all the song.
When it was far away at night and sunning on the boat, Ludi came walking slowly, pretending to check on nothing.
When she came to Nurbaya, she woke her up, saying, "Come with me, I'll give you a good place and if you like me, I'll give you money how much you like."
Nurbaya then stood up and rejected Ludi, saying in Dutch, "If you dare to disturb me once again, square your indecent behavior to the captain of the ship. Will it trouble your passengers here for work?
Or do you think I'm a bad woman? Open your eyes, look brightly; do not equate the good with the bad! Thou shalt be from, here!"
Kusir Ali had meanwhile stood up, protecting the Nurbaya; but Ludi apparently had nothing more to do, especially because he heard Nurbaya speak in Dutch, then left.
Although from that time Ludi did not return, but the nights were not dare they squinted his eyes, even a moment, afraid just in case it was also disturbed by the clergy.
That night also enter this ship to the port of Bengkulu, but it is not able to upload or load goods, because the waves are very large so wait until the next day.
Although this ship is anchored, but Nurbaya felt the body is not good, because the ship was very shrewd toyed with the waves Ketaun. Because he could not stand, he slept on his stool, until the ship sailed anyway, continuing his voyage to Jakarta.
At that time, then Nurbaya felt happy a little, able to stand and walk the road. Good day and the voyage was safe.
But at night, at about ten o'clock, the bright weather turned suddenly dark. The stars that glitter brightly, no longer visible, because covered with thick clouds, containing rain.
The wind was shady, the sea was calm, and even though it was night, the air was hot.
Suddenly lightning appeared in the southern sky, accompanied by a very loud thunderbolt. No matter how long it took, there was a very heavy rain, as poured out of the sky, accompanied by hurricanes blowing from all sides, alternating.
A great wave came, rolling up a mountain; sometimes mashing together, breaking in the middle of the ocean. The great ship was slammed to and fro by the waves as a worthless piece of wood.
So take the ship to the left to the right, and nod face to back.
The water taut seeped from all sides into the deck, sometimes washed away the crates or items that are light, very troublesome to all passengers; the one who has been drenched in water from above and from below: Therefore, it is very stormy for them, each looking for a place will protect himself and his goods.
Increasing their difficulties, because the ship is very shabby, so many passengers are drunk taut.
In such a case, suddenly a man, dressed in all black, came quickly to approach Nurbaya, who was sitting in her chair, unable to move, because dizziness.
The man immediately took hold of the body of the Nurbaya, and then admired it and carried it to the side of the ship, about to throw it into the taut.
When he was seen by Nurbaya the man who was Pendekar Lima, who he knew, wanted to stab Samsulbahri first, he cried out for help and insisted, to release himself from the hands of this evil pen.
Kusir Ali, aghast, then stood after Pendekar Lima to help Nurbaya, so that they struggled, to empas up. Therefore, Nurbaya was released from the hands of this criminal.
But unfortunately, when Pak Ali was about to approach Pendekar Lima anyway, even he was kicked the criminal, then fell lying. The man was in an uproar, and out of fear, the Swordsman of Five ran away, and was lost somewhere dark, at the stern of the ship.
When the ship came to the place of the fight, it was told by coachman Ali everything that had happened.
Kapitan who was polite and compassionate, immediately gave orders to his men, told Nurbaya to take to the sick room, because at that time he was, somehow because it was very shock, for some reason thrown by Swordsman Lima, fell unconscious, stranded on the side of the ship, no more telling himself.
And at that time also he was told to find the criminal in all the ships, but there was no meeting.
The next day, a young man was seen, walking back home in the harbor of Tanjung Periuk; apparently there was something waiting for him there. After anchoring the ship boarded Nurbaya.
take the young man to the ship, looking back and forth, but there seems to be nothing to look for. Therefore ask him to some passengers, if there is a young woman named Nurbaya, hitchhiking together.
After he heard from them, all that happened above Nurbaya, he immediately entered the sick room and actually there he saw Nurbaya lying on a bed.
So he was not restrained again, then he ran to get Nurbaya and hugged and kissed this woman, crying, "Oh Nurbaya, my beloved sister! Apparently we can barely see each other again."
Hearing these words, Nurbaya awoke, and when she saw him who embraced her, Samsulbahri, she wept also sobbing, hugging her lover.
"Truly wretched is right, my strand is," he said. "there is no breaking in the midst of danger. When is the end of my torment? If there had been no Ali to help me, I would have buried myself in the sea."
"Here my sister, don't cry anymore! Perhaps now is the time, we will have the pleasure of being far from all demons and devils. Be patient, I will make an effort, so that we may have the pleasure.
Can you walk, so that we may get off the ship "Can," replied the Nurbaya, "only I am still tired and a little dizzy."
"Why not," replied the coachman Ali, who was following Samsu, entering the sickroom, but not yet seen by this young man, "later support me!"
Hearing these words, Samsu turned back and immediately shook the hand of coachman Ali, asking for his help and loyalty.
They said, 'Take the boat captain with a police schout, go to the sickroom, and say, "dozen him!"
Seeing the Nurbaya thing like that, the schout fell silent immediately, then invited Samsu to the outside. After getting out of the room, schout said, "Who are you?"
"Hamba is a student of the Java Medical School, the name of Samsulbahri's servant" Samsu said.
"Although not a true servant brother, but better than a servant sister, "samsu replied.
"What's his name?''
"Nurbaya Sitti."
"And the one who was with him?"
"Ali, the coachman's father, who holds the rank of Penghulu in Padang."
"Came from their second step?"
"Indeed, that woman, the son of a merchant there."
"If so, it is true that he is," said Schout.
"What is the reason why you ask that?" ask Samsu.
"Read this telegram," replied the schout, pointing to a wire letter.
After Samsu had read the news of this wire, pale his face and trembled his lips. His hands were clenched and his teeth were crushed; and he said, "Would the contentment of that bastard seduce this Nurbaya?"
Then he said to the schout. "This complaint will not be a lie; it means merely to persecute this woman. As real in the end what people were going to do over him last night.
This Grandpa Meringgih was her husband, a very cruel man. That's why Nurbaya ran here.
He was about to be thrown into the sea, of course that bastard's job as well, because the criminal who threw Nurbaya out was the one." Then it was told by Samsu things Nurbaya with short, from the beginning to the end.
"I believe what you say" said Schout, "but I can do nothing else than according to this commandment which I have received."
"Sure" replied Samsu.
After pondering for a moment, he said, "Now what do you mean."
"I'll check everything" replied the police officer. "Well, I'll take his luggage," and Samsu went into Nurbaya's room and he came out soon, carrying his sister's belongings.
Upon examination, Schout found nothing, other than about fifty rupiah and women's clothing. Then he checked the coffin of coachman Ali. There was also nothing, other than a few clothes.
"Who's this money?" ask Schout, please,
"The Nurbaya" replied Ali.
"You know where this money came from?"
"Know, that's the bill, which costs about two hundred rupiahs. The servant himself who mortgaged him, eighty rupiahs when we were about to go here. His letter. The thirty rupiah we used for the cost of the ship, stayed again fifty rupiah.
"Do you know that the bracelet belongs to her and not to her husband's property?"
"Know: the bracelet is heirloom of his deceased mother; it was given to him before he married Datuk Meringgih."
..."Indeed," interrupted Samsu, "the servant knows it."...
"Well," said Schout, writing down all their words. "But I must also examine this woman."
"There is no recourse; only the servant asks, that this matter should not be preached to him, for he is still sick; in case his sickness increases, hear this bad news.
And after that, of course he must be taken to the hospital, to seek treatment there first" said Samsu.
"Indeed," said the ship's doctor, who was also there." he still had no illness to take home."
"If you like to give a certificate about the case, of course you can wait for it first" replied Schout.
..."I'll give you the letter" said the ship's doctor, then leave....
Samsu and Schout went into Nurbaya's room, and Samsu said to her, "This Mr. Schout is going to examine your body, just in case there was a trace of an accident last night; because the persecution will be incarcerated."
Samsu pretended to say so, so that Nurbaya did not know, the purpose of the arrival of this police officer. Upon examination, he said, "Come, go now! I'll show you the hospital where the cure is.'
"All right," replied Samsu.
When they are ready, they go. Nurbaya walks slowly, led by Samsu, towards the station. There they boarded a train that was headed to the city of Jakarta.
On the train, Samsu told Nurbaya, "You in Jakarta go to the hospital first so that it is right. When it has healed later, we can musyawarkan, the good done."
"How kind to you alone," answered Nurbaya, "I according."
After reaching the city of Jakarta, Nurbaya was admitted to the hospital; every day was watched by Samsu and coachman Ali.
There were no Nurbaya in this hospital for a long time he recovered from his illness, then out of the hospital stay hitchhiking at the house of a village head, acquaintance Samsu, and, while waiting for the ship that will take him back to Padang.
"Nurbaya!" samsu said at a good time, to his sister. "There is an important message I wish to tell you, which I have kept secret until this time; for I fear that your sickness, hearing it, will increase.
But now that your body is healthy again, may you describe your heart."
"What news is that?' nurbaya asked in surprise, looking at Samsu.
"Don't worry" replied Samsu, when he saw Nurbaya's face changed. Try smiling, trying to eliminate the worry of this lover.
"Perhaps you still remember the arrival of schout, to the ship you were on when the ship was just anchored and remember that the schout also checked your coffin and Pak Ali's chest. And of course you have not forgotten anyway, you from the ship continue to be put into the hospital.
Perhaps this Jewish thing raises a suspicion in your heart that I pay less attention to you.
Although there are even though your mind is so simple, I cannot be angry, because that is what I was doing at that time. As if he paid less attention to you.
But it is really only God who knows how big my heart is when he gets the news and sees you coming, and it is God who knows how sad it is for my heart to see your coming with such a thing: since we just met now we have to get divorced anyway.
Ah ..." "What kataniu?' nurbaya asked in surprise, "now we have to get divorced anyway? What's why?'
So it was told by Samsu, that there was an indictment coming from Datuk Meringgih, saying Nurbaya and coachman Ali ran away the Datuk's belongings and money and asked, that, so that they are detained and sent back to Padang immediately.
"Truly Datuk Meringgih is a cruel human being. Before I died I was not satisfied" Nurbaya said with great anger. "Do you believe his accusation?"
"Feel me to believe Nur; your cooking can do that" replied Samsu. All those who heard this story, no one believed the accusation. But what to say? We are now fighting with the police; we can do nothing, we must obey.
If we fight with the wretched grandfather, before my life drifts, you will not return to Padang."
Nurbaya did not answer, presumably because of her chest tightness, until she heard Samsu ask "How are your thoughts, Nur? Why are you silent?"
"The reason this is so difficult. The will of my heart, may I not return to Padang.
I can't tell you how hard I got here, I can't tell you how I'm going to be insulted by the Padang people, because I, as a married woman, have left her husband to run to another man.
If I return to Padang, I will see all the mouths that speak against me and I will hear all the words that insult me. But ... Is there any other way to go?'
After a moment of silence, Samsu said slowly, "What do you think, if we run from here to escape the police?"
"On my trumpet it will be in vain as well as our work," answered Nurbaya, shaking her head. "because we will eventually fall into the hands of the police. Where to hide yourself? All of Java has police.
And if we do so, I am guilty. Am I not afraid of being wrong and courageous because I am right? Running means fear, therefore, of course, all people will think, I am really guilty.
In my mind, I cannot reveal my truth, if I do not fight the accusation. So let me go back first. It is not hard for me to tell my truth and this matter will break up soon. When I break up, I come back here soon.
"Ah yes. But is there really no other way to get you out of that shit?" samsu said, clenching his hands, and hitting the table, as he was about to release the heat of his heart.
"The desire of my heart should now, after we have mixed this, not be divorced anyway; for now we can be together. When you have returned to Padang, we must meet first, then it can be mixed again.
Padang Jakarta is not an overnight, the big ocean must be crossed, just arrived. While in a moment can be a lot of things that happen, especially in a divorce that is not necessarily long."
"Your words are true, Sam. But what is our power in this, other than according to the will of the police?
Not for you alone is the weight of this divorce, but especially for me, who as a bird has escaped from prison and now has to surrender himself also, into his cage again, met his alguj.
"Oh Allah!' nurbaya. "To whom will Your servant ask for another fight, another than Yours ... ?"
Samsu could not make his voice, for it was sad to see his sister.
"Even if my heart is broken, it will leave you, but it will not be my pleasure, if this is not finished.
Let it be said of a woman who is unfaithful to her husband, for indeed the Grandfather is not my husband, but my algojoku, who has been protected by a marriage license, but I do not like to be said to be a thief, because I am not a thief.
Therefore my truth in this must be revealed. Just something that occurred to my heart, is not this issue examined in Jakarta alone? If only it could be good!"
"Yes, that's a reason" said Samsu suddenly, then stood up and put on his hat.
Where are you going?" asked Nurbaya, who did not understand Samsu's intentions.
"Will go to the Assistant Resident's office, asking, may this matter be examined here only,"
"Yes, fine. Try it!" nurbaya. "Hopefully Allah will tell you that too."
At once Samsu also left and about two o'clock, then he returned. But from afar it was seen by Nurbaya on her face, that she meant no success, for Samsu came with sorrow.
"How's it?" ask Nurbaya from far away. go home."
"Ah, I can't. You must also go home."
"I thought I thought" said Nurbaya. "What can I do!" "Yes, indeed; that poor thing cannot be denied. And it is also good that you are careful.
Who knows if your algojom is any more wits, to destroy you; for he is apparently not afraid and is not afraid to do all evil. In the meantime, I will find work here, that there may be our livelihood, when you return and live with me.
If I continue my studies, it will be hard for us to live here. For me, let me not be a doctor, as long as I live with you."
"That's what you said, Sam. That is the best path to be followed, so that we are safe. And although I am right, you left your school, but I must also make sure you mean this.
Therefore promise me to you, when we are together, I will repay you with the best care and assistance in your life."
"Ah, my school thing don't think about it. Remember my promise to your father! Not even so, should I also defend you," said Samsu, "again, I cannot continue my studies, because of lack of shopping.
You know for yourself, my father won't help anymore."
"Therefore, in my mind, when we are together, I will tell you to sell my house and my land and all my goods that are still in Padang, so that we can use the money here, or for whatever is necessary; for I do not want to go back to Padang, let it die in the region of people.
In my own homeland there is nothing but distress and misery that I have obtained. Maybe in the country people can have fun" said Nurbaya.
"Yes, right; that's it. My mind also thinks. To me, what else will draw my heart to Padang? You are here and my mother will tell me to come here, stay with us" Samsu replied.
"Oh my heart would be glad if your mother were with us! Surely all the misery that I have endured is gone; there must be pleasure and joy again; of course... Ah, indeed the ideal is very beautiful," said Nurbaya after pensively pensive, while the joy of his heart that began to arise, lost again, exchanging sadly, so that it brings worry, in his heart, too, afraid that God would not say.
"Do you remember all the ideals of the night when you were going to come here, Sam? What's it going to be now?"
"Don't think so!" answer Samsu. "Don't despair! You are young and I am too. Who knows, not now, maybe we will have fun. Just eat rain from morning to evening.
The heat after the rain, gives rise to freshness of the body and pleasure of the heart." "I hope so too!
However, because all the accidents and sorrows have come upon me, I dare not hope anymore; special also because I now have to go back to Padang.
Indeed it is very hard for my heart to leave you and Jakarta, for I am here very happy; first because it is in your hand.second because it is far from where I have danger.
And again, as someone forbade me to return to Padang, as there had been waiting for something to happen that threatened me." "Lost such a thought!
Remember your parents' advice!" samsu said slowly, persuading his lover, even though his own heart was worried as well.
"Especially because of this, we must not say no; we must obey. Therefore give up on you and take care of yourself! You have been there for a month; we have met.
I really want to deliver you; but I cannot leave at this time, for there is a work to be asked. If I leave here, I'll take that job out of my hands.
My heart's desire, when you come back here, I have a job.
After all, you returned to Padang to be delivered by an opas I knew. I will instruct him that you may be well guarded. If you want to come back here and have no friends, send word to me! Of course I came to pick you up.
Thus, I was not long in Padang. If I hitchhiked with a Jakarta ship that met in Padang by boat from Aceh, maybe that day I can also return, so there is no need to spend the night in Padang. Let me not meet my father.
How are you thinking, Nur? Well so?"
"Well, if you like it," replied Nurbaya, looking at Samsu with a smile.
"Thou shalt be kind, all according" said Samsu, kissing his sister.
"Now put on your clothes, so that we can go for a walk, look around this city of Jakarta, because tomorrow the ship leaves for Padang."
"Do I have to go and get divorced from you?" ask Nurbaya.
"For a while" replied Samsu.
After finishing wearing, walk their second, hold hands, see the city of Jakarta sightseeing at night. By Samsu, Nurbaya walked to and fro, riding hansom and train, around Jakarta.
