MY MOTHER TOLD ME ALL THE SECRETS ABOUT MY CHILDHOOD FRIEND

***

"You check, note or observe the date above!"

"Most importantly, pay attention! Whose diary you're reading!"

"The opening sentence is like this, only for the 'new character' present in the Diary. If it's ever appeared, then nothing."

***

Hi, my name is Syila Kartika, Class 11 IPA, and joined the High School Athletic Club of Susukan village.

I live in the village of Tirtayasa, about 7.2 km from the School. Perhaps, I was the most distant student when calculated the distance from home to school.

Mom and Dad rarely stay at home because of the demands of work. He will come home once every 2 weeks and when holidays or other important days.

So, I used to live alone and sometimes even moved places, when my father's job was transferred to his place of duty.

But I am grateful, they are always healthy in every circumstance.

Before that, I apologize to those of you who read my Diary. Because I was too busy with other activities, to take my time in writing this Diary.

I was confused, I knew where I was going to start, because it was too far gone, since I took this book, which was displayed in front of the Office.

Ah, stupid, I'm gonna start telling you what happened today, as my story opens.

***

"Good kids, time to rest."

"Father ended the study this time. And see you next week."

Ah, finally the break time came as well. The Master who teaches Physics now leaves our Class.

Honestly, I'm waiting for a break today instead of yesterday. Wh why? Because I wanted to promise Rei, the wavy black-haired man, would give me the same provisions he made.

"Rey!"

I shouted with excitement, waving my hands.

"Dad?"

"I'm there yeah."

Rei nodded slowly, agreeing. Now, I approached his desk and sat beside an empty chair, left by the owner.

"Rey, it's dong."

"Dad, I'll get it first."

Rei then opened his black bag, and took out 2 provisions, which were both wrapped in blue cloth.

"Rei? Didn't you borrow Dandi's cloth yesterday?"

"Do you have the stock, or maybe you're hoarding it?"

"Hahaha, not Syila. Why am I hoarding this blue-colored cloth."

I just smiled, watching him behave like that.

"This, Syila. The former!"

I received the provisions he offered, and opened them immediately.

"Well, it looks good."

The lunchbox contained 2 long grilled sausages, 2 small rolled omelets, 2 sachet tomato sauce, boiled spinach, a box of UHT milk, and a few toothpicks to make it easier to eat.

Pretty healthy for me, because I often eat instant noodles rather than food like this.

"Congratulations—"

"Rei, how is Syila made? For me, where?"

Suddenly, Fia, the ponytail-haired woman, approached and cut off my words.

"Eh? Fia asked to be madein too?"

"Tent—"

"It's Fia, we split the two."

"Don't trouble Rei more than this."

I thrust it, and he immediately accepted it.

"Well, thank you."

"Good meal!"

"Good meal!"

Hey, why did Fia talk even turn into a stammer like that? Is there something wrong with my words? I don't think there's any weirdness going on.

I took 1 piece of sausage and sachet sauce. I feel Rei's food is really good.

The beef-flavored sausage, burnt to perfect maturity, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and smeared with fresh tomato sauce, made my tongue not stop swaying.

Oi! Would I say such shameful words? Huh! Of course not.

It's just a figure of speech. I'm a simple person, if it's delicious, then I'll say good.

Honestly, the stock made by Rei is very good, maybe I will be addicted to the provisions made by him.

"Hmmm, delicious Rei. You agree, don't you, Fia?"

"D-Daddy, Shila. Delicious."

Fia and I continued to enjoy it, until only a box of UHT milk remained. And as usual, if food/drinks remain one, then no one tries to approach it, instead just silenced.

"Make me well, Fia, milk the box?"

"Dad Syila, please."

I'll just take the milk from the box, rather than no one drinking. I'm right, aren't I? So I started drinking it.

"Well, Fia, you're not part of it."

"You want two with me?"

"Thu .. uhuk ...."

I don't understand why I suddenly choked while drinking it.

"No need for Rei, I have mineral water."

"All right."

Fia then stood up, and went towards her desk. Ah, it looks like he's going to grab some mineral water from his bag.

Oh yes, I am full now. I have to go first, visit my other friend.

"Rei, I'm going first yeah."

"thank you. It's delicious."

"A-Ah, yeah. You're welcome."

I then left, leaving her, full.

***

Teng-teng!

"Good kids, the last lesson is over, marked by the sound of our school bell."

"Please, if you want to go home."

Mother Teacher of Indonesian Language has closed her teaching activities today. I cleaned up the stationery on the desk.

"Well, tiring."

As an Indonesian, I'm honestly confused, why? Because many are of poor value to Indonesian language lessons, even though from a small number of people live in the country of Indonesia.

Including me, who sometimes got Remedial on those lessons.

I've cleaned up the Stationery. There was no one else in the class, because I was the last person in the class.

"Well, it's time for me to go home."

I walked home, to the highway. Iyah .. although this school is in the village, but access to highways and public transportation remains. This is very helpful to me, when I go back to school.

I got into Public Transportation, and sat at the very corner. In front of me, there is Dandi who always goes back and forth to School using Public Transportation.

Dandi actually became the prima donna of the students in the school. He's a guy who looks like an actor from the Ginseng country, with double-sided black hair, and bright skin color.

But I don't understand why he's still single. Does he have any abnormalities? Or maybe because he is too picky in looking for his partner.

Oh yes, while I go home using Public Transportation, I will tell you about my reasons, why the school in the village high school.

It all started when I was Junior High School Class 9A

Junior High School Tirtayasa, Class 9A:

At that time, I received information that an Athletic competition would be held at Sultan Agung Tirtayasa Football Stadium.

When the time came home from school, I invited Fia, a friend of my sister to accompany her to watch the game.

We both walked about 450 from the school, towards the venue where the race was held.

After arriving, it turned out that there were already many spectators gathered outside the stadium. I'm not surprised by this crowd, because I've watched Athletics competitions before.

"For those who want to watch, please purchase tickets at both Locket A and Pocket B!"

"It cost twenty thousand rupiahs!"

The sound of the speakers made me even more excited, because I was sure, the match this time would be very crowded.

"Hey, Silene. How much money?"

Fia asked as she reached into her shirt pocket.

"I brought fifteen thousand."

Ah, no! I forgot to bring more money. Large-scale matches usually pay for tickets in advance before watching. And I only brought 15 thousand, while showing him 10 thousand and 5 thousand rupiah bills.

"Ah, if I only have ten thousand left."

"Where is this?"

Fia shows the money he brought, with a fraction of 5 thousand rupiah, as much as two pieces.

How'this? If I go back to the dorm first, then I'll miss the game. Not to mention if the ticket runs out.

"Hey, Silene. Mending you're the one watching the game. I think Syila wants it more."

"Here, bring my money."

Hey, what the fuck. That was a tempting offer. But .. I'm the one who invited him.

"But .. ah, I'm not good with you Fia."

"I've brought you here .. when I'm the only one watching."

"That's Shila, that's okay."

I am confused when things are like this.

I prayed in my heart and promised, if only a teenager would help us, maybe I would follow him or go to school with him, even though I had to go to school long distances.

"Hey, what are you two doing?"

"Do you look like you're confused?"

I heard a man's voice from behind startling the two of us.

I turned around and saw the man standing in a blue sweater.

Who is this guy?

Is this man the answer to my prayer?

He was a man of bright skin color, with slightly wavy black hair, with a height of about 168 cm (approximately)

I hope he really is the answer to my prayer. Let me try.

"Ah, not really. It's just we're short of money to buy tickets."

"Here, I have fifty grand, you guys use it to buy tickets and food."

It turned out to be true, the man gave a sheet of money worth 50 thousand rupiah to both of us.

"Ah, really? Yeeey! Thank you." Thank you."

I took the money, and went straight to the ticket booth, as well as some food stands.

***

I came back with 2 tickets, 2 brochures, and some plastic-wrapped food.

Is Fia acting stupid or what? To say something like that? Ah, let me say his word.

"Dad, of course. The proof is he gave us money to buy this ticket."

I'm right, aren't I? Now we enter the stadium, and sit in the western stands.

I looked around, and saw countless people wearing red, green, yellow, and so on. No one wears blue clothes. Then, next to me Fia was seriously reading a brochure. All right, I better eat the snack.

The snacks I bought were potato chips, and iced tea.

Crispy and savory, I can feel from the cassava chips that I am eating. To be honest, I like this kind of food.

"Huh? Are you sure?"

Wait, why is Fia yelling? What's in that brochure?

"You why?"

"This ... The man named Rei Anggara followed his four branches."

"While his three college friends were just in the relay race."

He explained, while showing me the part of the brochure he was reading.

"I think his friend is just a complement."

"Color will run the relay or run, while carrying and giving the baton need four people."

I right? So, why should I be confused.

"Hey, the game hasn't started yet, it's been eaten."

"Don't take my ration yeah ...."

I kept eating snacks, without caring about it.

"The first branch race is about to begin!"

"Participants expect to approach the Start line!"

Wait, he's the guy from there, right? Who gave us money? Now he is standing in a blue shirt, not far from the starting line, following this race.

"Fia, Fia. Isn't that the guy?"

I asked, pointing towards the field.

"Dad, right. His name is Rei."

"So he told me his name,"

"Wait, is his name Rei?"

"Dad, Rei. He said it himself."

Fia answered him, while pointing towards the field as well.

Then, I took the brochure I didn't receive, flipped through it, looking for Rei's name.

"Hey, Fia. Rei's name is just one doang loh."

"And Rei is from your village, Fia."

"Dad right."

Fia gave a small nod.

"So, Fia knows where the house is?"

I approached and looked directly at his face.

"Eng .. unfortunately not. I just met him this time."

"Well, thank goodness."

Thank goodness he didn't know. Because I was going to visit him, and ask him where he or she was going to school. I have to keep my promise, in my prayer.

"Everyone, take a swing!"

All right, my brochure is back, because I have to watch the race I like, which is the Athletics competition.

I even had a poster of 'Usain Bolt' the fastest runner taped to my room.

Aah, I'd love to have a runner's girlfriend.

"All are ready ...."

"Ready .. priett!"

A loud whistle was heard from the puff of the court referee, and now the participants immediately left the starting line tight.

"Gilaa, Rei ran a lot."

I was amazed to see him run so fast. Even Rei instantly became ahead, after the whistle sounded.

Then, there was the sound of the audience cheering on the champion. But ... I did not hear the screams supporting Rei. Is that why no audience wears blue shirts? I mean, Rei's in a race wearing a blue t-shirt. That means he has no backers, right?

Prok-Prok-Prok!

"Come on Rei!"

"Come on! Come on!"

I heard the sound of applause and support to Rei. I heard it from the field.

I looked towards the field, looked towards the blue mark, and it turned out that the sound was from his friends, numbering 3 people, with the same color of the shirt.

Alright, I should also stand up, and support him.

"Come Rei! You can do it!"

"Come Rei! You can do it!"

My voice turned out to be in tandem with Fia. He then stood with me.

"Come Rei!"

"You have to win!"

It seemed like Fia was not used to shouting. For just a moment, his voice was raspy.

"And the winner is from SMP Susukan Village!"

"Rei, sequence number 002, the blue shirt runner!"

Well yeah! He finally won! Aah, I was too happy, with his victory.

Oh yeah, I'll shorten it to the end of the show, which is the interview. Because from the start, Rei was all that won his branch.

I want to hear his interview, who knows he's gonna say the school is going. I mean ... The race match this time gave a scholarship prize, in addition to prize money and medals.

***

In the still sitting state, seen in the field, there was Rei and a reporter, wearing a red-dominated work uniform, was giving the mic to Rei. He received the mic, and began the interview session.

"Does Rei want to continue his schooling at SMAN Tirtayasa?"

"It doesn't seem to."

"Why not? It's not like you're going to get 'Students' through a track like this?"

"No, I'd rather continue my schooling at Susukan Village High School."

Huh huh? That school? That means close to Fia.

"Why? Isn't the school lacking facilities?"

"Because I want to introduce my village, to the many people out there, that there are actually a lot of outstanding students, but it is rarely known to people out there."

"Because of the cost factor as well, the school can not fully provide the facilities we want. I hope, with this, there will be many donors who help our school in Susukan village."

I poked Fia, wanted to say something.

"Dad, what's wrong?"

"It looks like I want to continue my schooling at Susukan Village High School."

"Let's go there. The school is close to your house, right?"

I hope Fia comes with my invitation.

"Well, I'll tell my father. And if my father doesn't agree, I'll force him."

I hope his father gives me permission. I don't want to go to school without Fia.

The interview session is not yet over. I'm taking him back.

"alright. Is there anything we want to say as a cover for this interview?"

"certain."

"To the principal, teachers, and guidance teachers of Susukan Village Junior High School Club, as well as my friends who have helped in every situation, I thank you."

"I can win all the branches, and my friends in the relay race can win it because of your support and prayer."

"Including you two girls who were there ...."

Rei pointed towards us.

I stood up, waved my hand, and smiled. I didn't expect, he pointed at us both.

Rei continued.

"Dad, youguys. Thank you for supporting me."

"I wish I could remember your faces. Because I have a problem remembering the faces of people I just met."

"All right, that's all. Thank you." Thank you."

The interview session is over. I'm taking Fia home, leaving the stadium.

"Yuk's home."

We both left the stadium. I have to get to Junior High Dormitory soon, because I want to call and ask my parents for permission.

***

I reached the Dormitory, picked up the HP in the drawer, and called my father.

"Hello Dad?"

"Dad, what's wrong?"

"I want to continue school at Susukan Village High School. Can I?"

"Oh, is that school? Sure, I'll prepare soon, when you've graduated."

"Thank you, Dad."

I closed the call. But I wonder why that was so easy my father allowed. Usually my father is very difficult, when it comes to licensing issues.

"Left Bang."

Sorry, I told you too long. Now I have reached my destination. I got out of the car, and paid for the ride.

So, now let's go back to my High School.

High School Susukan village, Class 11 IPA:

"I'm home!"

I opened the door and went straight in. But, I'm surprised, why Daddy and Mom have come home today.

"Dad, Mother? How come you're home? What's up?"

"Ah, I've permission. Oh yeah Syila, we're moving house."

"What's? move house where?"

"To Sampang village, Susukan village. Dad transferred work assignments again, in the area."

Wait, I know the name of Susukan village. But where is Sampang village?

"Sampang Village where is Dad?"

"You just keep going, don't turn to school. Hm ... About 1.4 km, the distance from your school to Sampang village."

"We're going back to living next door to your childhood friend" Mother said, chiming in on our conversation.

"Eh, I used to live there little? And I have a childhood friend?"

"Dad, even since you were one year old, until you were about 6 or 7 years old."

"After that, Dad was transferred again, his workplace."

"True Ma'am. If I'm not mistaken, your childhood friend's name is ... Rei."

Wait, my mother's father knows who Rei is, and I'm Rei's childhood friend? Is that true?

"Dad, Mother? I forgot my childhood memories. Will you tell me the story of my childhood."

"All right, I'll tell you."

Then, Mom took me to sit by the couch, and started telling me all my childhood memories ....
