Arriving at home, they decided to stay at the hotel, while Steve cleaned the new apartment they would live in later. As usual Daffa and Rhea booked separate but adjacent rooms. This would make it easier for Daffa to continue monitoring Rhea's condition and keep her out of harm's way.
“Why did you help him Young Master?” ask someone at the end of the phone.
“What will you believe if I say that I owe my life to the girl?” Daffa replied a little lethargic.
“Devian killed his father and not you!” the man nodded.
“I know, but it's all because of my departure that has made Devian even more crazy. You know that Devian thinks that I died at the hands of Naratama.”
“What do you mean?”
“Devian hurts. The hallucinations were so wild, no one could really handle it other than me. In addition to hallucinating, he can also sometimes turn into someone else who is completely different. He can't recognize people well."
"The person he thought was me, and lying on that bench was Jason, his best friend. Devian closes all possibilities and presuppositions himself. He only believes what he wants to believe. Until Jason finally came along and ruined all of Devian.”'s imagination
“So you mean right that someone died that night?” Daffa nodded, though he probably knew that the person on the other end of the phone would not be able to see him.
“Jason died with his misfortune at the hands of Devian that night. But Devian thinks that I'm the one he killed. Devian goes to great lengths to cover up all his guilt by triggering completely different new memories. He believed that mr. Aziel is the culprit.”
“The man he hated so much had killed his brother. His guilt had blocked all his memories and created completely different new memories. He never even remembered that there was someone named Jason in his life.”
“I understand your concerns Young master. I'll continue to monitor its progress and report everything to you.”
Daffa covered his phone with a rough-sounding breath. He seems to trust the man very much. The same guy that took her to Paris ten years ago.
The man who took her away amidst all the complicated debates that were going on. He was the same person who asked him to come back. His grandfather was just a simple reason to convince Rhea to come with him.
“Kak Daffa.” Rhea's voice sounded from behind the door. Made Daffa run very hastily towards the door to open it.
“What's up?”
“There's a phone call from Brother Steve. He called you earlier but your number is always busy.” Rhea gave her phone to Daffa who was immediately answered by the young man.
“Drug headache yesterday? Yes, I saved it.”
“I won't forget it, take it easy.” Rhea could only hear what Daffa said. I don't know what the young man was talking about with him.
“You better hurry if you want to see me soon Steve.” A conversation that Rhea thinks is more similar to a conversation between lovers than a conversation between two men who are friends.
“What medicine?” strangely, he was still curious.
Without any intention of making her even more suspicious, Daffa chose to tell Rhea everything. He immediately walked towards the nightstand after Rhea's question. He took the medicine he meant and showed it to his wife.
“The sleeping pills I used to consume are not available in the country. Yesterday Steve asked his doctor's acquaintance to prescribe me another drug. Medicine that will be easy to find here.”
“You have a sleep disorder, Brother?” Daffa nodded.
“This is the wrong medicine.” Rhea looked at him blankly. Without thinking any longer, Rhea even took the initiative to dispose of the drugs herself and washed them into the sink.
“What are you doing?” shouted Daffa annoyed.
“It is a drug commonly given to sufferers of psychiatric disorders. A very high dose of sedative. This medicine will make you hallucinate. This is not a drug intended for a normal person. Or you are indeed a man in a psychiatric disorder.” Daffa was astonished by what Rhea had explained to him.
“Devian takes the same drug.” Reciprocity.
“Where did you know that? Didn't you lose all your memories?”
“I got it back recently. Since you said we're going back to Indonesia.” Rhea walked towards the sofa in the living room and started trying to catch her breath, which started hunting in nervousness.
“You okay?” Rhea broke out in cold sweat and appeared very pale as she tried hard to dig back all her memories.
“The doctor gave me a different medicine." Rhea closed her eyes and tried hard to remember everything, even if it would make her head hurt.
"The medicine that made me forget all my tension. I can recall it because of the drug.” It was clearly Rhea who was getting Daffus confused.
“What medicine?”
“Drugs that can remove opium. It was a kind of drugs commonly used for the rehabilitation of drug addicts.”
“You consume.” Rhea immediately interrupted Daffa's words before she continued all her suspicions.
“Someone's been giving me medicine since Devian's departure. The same medicine you take. I'd almost been convicted as an addict if it wasn't the doctor who examined me. I showed him the cure and he declared me a patient on treatment.”
Daffa remembered it clearly. It was a year ago when the scandal about Rhea who used drugs began to surface. He was at the peak of his career at the time. But strangely the rumors subsided very quickly without causing any public tension.
“There are trying to trap, or control us. I was told that the drugs I was taking would drain my memory one by one without remaining. I will end up as a vile human being who has no heart if it continues to consume it.”
“Our medicine is a little different, the drug you and Devian are taking has a severe hallucinatory effect that will end with symptoms of personality changes. Devian was sentenced to double personality last time. I'm sure if that's also part of the plan.”
Daffa twisted his brain to digest all the explanations Rhea gave him. He had only taken the drug yesterday, but he was very sure if the effect of the drug was exactly the same as what Rhea explained to him.
“You, please don't stay away from me and Steve. Remember there's no one you can trust right now.” Rhea nodded.
Daffa asked her to rest in her room because the girl was sweating and her body temperature was slowly rising. He is so worried about Rhea's current condition, but the girl convinces him that it is just the effect of the return of bad memories on him. Rhea asked her not to worry, but Daffa still insisted on accompanying the girl and not leaving her alone.
“Tonight let Steve sleep in your room. You'll stay with me until I'm sure everything's safe.”
Rhea according. He laid himself on the Daffa bed with Daffa's hands holding it and slowly fell asleep right next to it. They also spent a long night so calm, as if there had never been a problem in their household all this time.
“Ka..kau.” Rhea just woke up the next day with a very awkward condition between herself and Daffa.
“I'll have Steve prepare food.” Daffa was nervous and rushed out of the room.
