The wedding day arrived. The Pradha family home has been packed with guests since morning. Some High School friends alternated to meet Pradha who had sat in the pelaminan after a series of traditional ceremonies that were so long.
Rahang Pradha felt pained as he continued to force a smile. And so is Abi. Both of them had to put on a sweet smile to fool the invited guests.
"Congratulations, huh? May you be a soul mate until death."
"Matching couple."
"I think you guys are meant to be a match, you're very similar."
"Relax, love will come with time."
Those words sounded very sickening in Pradha's ears. He could only respond to those words with a fake smile. When Pradha's gaze met Abi, then the two would squint at each other.
Dislike clearly emanated from the look in both eyes. However, Abi can still control emotions when in the presence of others. He occasionally stood up to Pradha while whispering to remind Pradha to keep smiling.
It didn't feel like the party was over. Pradha and Abi say goodbye. An atmosphere of grief again enveloped Laksmi and Pradha's hearts. After this marriage, Pradha is not allowed to visit her parents' house anymore.
Pradha has a higher caste than Abi. So, according to the prevailing custom, she will follow the name of the husband. Pradha was also not allowed to visit his parents, and was even forbidden to see their bodies when they died.
"Mom, all right, huh? Don't forget to eat on time, and take care of your health."
"You too. Now you belong to your whole husband. Do what is your responsibility as a wife."
"Good, Mom. We're leaving" said Pradha, kissing the back of her mother's hand.
After that, Pradha also said goodbye to her father. Abi and Pradha finally get out of the house. There was no meaningful conversation on the way.
Thirty minutes passed, Abi and Pradha finally arrived at a modest house belonging to Artha. Both of them got the house as a wedding gift. Pradha got out of the car and got into the house.
The beautiful woman sat on the sofa, then took out a blue map from her bag. As soon as Abi caught up with her, Pradha called out to the man. Abi immediately approached Pradha and sat opposite his wife.
"What's wrong?"
"Read, and sign!" Pradha handed me the map containing the agreement.
Unexpectedly, Abi directly scratched the pen on the sheet of paper. After completing the signature, Abi immediately returned it to Pradha. The woman was also stifled. He didn't expect Abi to be that stupid.
The husband did not read the contents of the agreement which actually benefited Pradha more than Abi. Pradha also packed the existing sheet of paper and put it in the folder.
"Basic, astek!" exclamation Pradha.
"What if I'm from a sign?"
"Fraudulent! There could be content of the agreement that could harm you! Why sign it without reading it first?" Pradha smiled slantingly, as if laughing at the carelessness of her husband.
"I just want to keep my promise. Didn't I tell you, after marriage you're free to do whatever you want?" abi said in a cold and confident voice.
"alright. Hope you have no regrets. This letter cannot be undone without the consent of both parties."
"I don't care!" Abi got up from the sofa and walked towards the kitchen.
"Take this as my last service to you." Pradha smiled wryly then walked into her room.
***
A phone call from the mother-in-law, making Pradha a little distracted. He was just about to close his eyes after a night of being unable to sleep. Something was stirring in his heart.
However, Pradha also did not know what it was. He felt his heart feel so riled up without knowing the cause. Pradha wriggled and grabbed her phone and picked up the phone from her in-laws. It turned out that her sister-in-law had come home from Japan today.
After the phone connection was cut off, Pradha sent a message to Abi. She told her husband that her mother had invited dinner to welcome her sister-in-law. After Abi replied to a message sent by Pradha, she got out of bed and went to the bathroom to clean up.
The clock shows at 18:00 WITA when Abi parked his motorbike in front of the house. The man went straight into the house, and was greeted by a Pradha figure who looked very charming.
"You're hunting for a bath!" exclaim Pradha while continuing to play her phone.
Abi remained unmoved while gulping. His eyes were still fixed on the short dress worn by his wife. Casual dress patterned daisy flower was only able to cover half Pradha's thigh.
"Bi, you heard no, no!" pradha shouted annoyed.
Only then did Abi wake up. The man cleared his throat, then threw out a glance. He immediately stepped into the room to prepare.
"Basic!" umpat Pradha staring at her husband.
After waiting for thirty minutes, Abi finally came out of the room, and was well dressed. Both of them directly split the streets of Denpasar City towards the mother's house.
This is Pradha's first visit after marriage. She doesn't know much about the nature of her mother-in-law. So, there was a hint of nervousness sneaking into the heart of the beautiful woman.
Pradha continued to stare at the streets, and coiled into her own thoughts. What should he do later? Is the mother-in-law a good person? Will he be accepted as a son-in-law?
Pradha's attitude is much different from that of the gentle and polite Praba. Pradha does not like to humble himself to get the sympathy of others. Pradha prefers to behave as she pleases.
"We've arrived."
Pradha blinked a few times then looked around her. Now he has arrived at a simple house that looks familiar. There was a conjecture that suddenly appeared on the woman's head. Pradha dismissed the allegations.
It is impossible that they are family to him.
Pradha followed behind Abi. He looked at the house he had visited a few years ago. Pradha thought it was possible that this house had changed hands, because the last time he came here, this building was already uninhabited.
"Come, comein!" Abi opened the door wide in front of him, and moved his head to signal for Pradha to enter first.
Upon entering the living room, the mother-in-law immediately stood firm. A wide smile was engraved clearly on his face which was starting to age. In front of the in-laws sat a man who turned his back on the door.
Pradha's heart is beating faster. He memorized the posture of the man in front of him. Pradha was very familiar with the scent of perfume that the man used. His heart was beating even faster.
The bright brown-haired man got off the couch, then turned back. Now Pradha's gaze and the man meet. He threw a smile at Pradha, but not the woman. Pradha stared wide-eyed after finding out who the man who became her sister-in-law was.
"How are you?" ask the man.
