Ren & Rena: World Heroes Legend

Ren & Rena: World Heroes Legend
Chapter 11 The Great Witch Merlin

In the special room exculpation Research Legend of World Heroes.

At first, I thought there were only 3 people attending this activity.

I stared coldly at a green haired girl.

"Why are you here?"

"Because I'm a member."

I turned to look at Lee.

"Is that true?"

Just like me, Lee was also confused by this condition.

"No, I don't know."

A silent atmosphere began to envelop this room.

I don't know what to do, now my top priority is my life!

It is better to ignore the membership in advance so that our time is not wasted due to this awkwardness.

I started to open up our activities while feeling a little scared.

"In that case, let's start the activity."

We gathered together to form a circle.

Rena started asking me.

"So, what are our activities?"

Geh! I forgot to bring the materials!

I looked at Lee for help.

Understanding my code, Lee took out some scanned sheets of paper from old notes he found in his house.

"We're going to talk about my ancestor, the Great Witch Merlin."

Rena began to mention some information about Merlin that he knew.

"Merlin's? Wasn't he from the legend of King Arthur?"

Lee answered him casually.

"Yes, that's right. Most people know that he comes from an Arthurian legend, but the truth is that Merlin has existed since the reign of Ren's ancestor Gilgamesh."

Rena turned her eyes to me.

"Gilgamesh? You you?"

Feeling uncomfortable with her behavior, I replied to Rena's remark with a slight bully.

"Is there a problem?"

"No, your nature is really very similar to her."

"Thank you."

"That's not a compliment."

Huhh?!!! T-wait a minute, so what he meant was Gilgamesh's nature before being wise huh.

With a bright smile I said, "Thank you for the compliment."

Rena sighed deeply and then said, "Fufufu ... It's good you admit that."

Feeling annoyed at not being noticed again, Lee began to cleared his throat and everyone's attention was on him.

"I'm going to go on, somebody's got an objection."

Everyone was silent as they waited for Lee to continue his explanation.

"According to the beliefs of many, Merlin is a fusion between demons and humans. But, in truth, he was just an ordinary human being. She became a witch because she was given an advantage by God after the great flood known as, Noah's Ark. He also gave a prophecy to Gilgamesh about the coming of death for Gilgamesh's friend Enkidu."

Lee stopped his explanation.

"... Anybody here want to ask?"

Sophie raised her hand.

Lee invited him to ask.

"Please."

"Because Merlin has something to do with the reign of king Gilgamesh, wouldn't it be better to explain a little about king Gilgamesh as well?"

The point is he asked for an explanation about king Gilgamesh.

Lee took out a few pieces of paper and handed them to Sophie.

"That's the profile of king Gilgamesh."

Sophie looked confused as she read it.

Lee asked me to explain it in front of everyone.

"Ren, please explain about king Gilgamesh briefly to them."

Though I was the head of the exkul, but instead was ruled like this by my members.

I nodded and agreed.

"All right, I'll explain. Please pay attention to the note while listening to my explanation."

Rena and Sophie started looking at the paper while listening to my explanation.

"King Gilgamesh was a Sumerian king who ruled around 2,800-2,500 BC or often known as the "3rd Millennium BC" (Year 3,000-2001 BC), he is also a race of ⅔ gods and ⅓ humans."

They were still focused on the sheet and there was no sign of confusion.

I continued my explanation as well.

"Gilgamesh is the son of a goddess and a human. Gilgamesh's mother was a goddess named Ninsun. While his father was a priestess of the king named, Lugalbanda."

"... As for my explanation, we're going to talk about Merlin."

I'm transferring the right to talk to Lee.

Before Lee spoke, Sophie raised her hand and asked me.

"Senior, why is it here that king Gilgamesh does not grieve over the death of his friend Enkidu?"

I deny that question.

"Actually, he was devastated over the death of his friend. For this reason, he wanders in search of a cup of water to drink so that he can gain immortality."

Sophie continued her question.

"But is it not written here because he feared death and went to find a wise man who had survived the great flood?"

"The information is just a view from someone else, actually I've read the diary Gilgamesh wrote himself in my house."

Impressed, Sophie shows excessive interest.

"really?! Can I see it?!"

"Sure, I'll bring the scan to you later."

Hearing my words, Sophie looked very happy.

Lee who had been silent finally spoke.

"Can I continue my explanation?"

We just nodded in response.

Lee restarts his explanation of the Witch Merlin.

"Merlin has a long and youthful life, that's the truth. He's not immortal, even if you stab him he'll die like a mortal."

Rena raised her hand and asked a question.

"Why did you say Merlin wasn't an immortal?"

Lee lightly answered Rena's question.

"Because basically, man was created to end up dead. Believe me, there is no eternal life in this world except in the next."

From the explanation, I'm sure Lee took the sentence from a rhyme written on Merlin's diary.

"Is there anything else you want to ask?"

Getting clear answers and reasons, Rena did not continue her question and allowed Lee to continue.

"Nothing, please continue."

Lee continued his explanation.

"Merlin's true ability is not to see the future but, he can see some of the final results of a human's thread of destiny. So, I want you to correct the perception like Merlin can predict the future because what he sees is just a pseudo-image and cannot be changed even if he already knows it."

This explanation is more logical and reliable, than what is often called fortune-telling. I can accept this because from Merlin's various attachments, he often foretells something like betrayal and someone's death. So, the destiny of betrayal and death is something you cannot change because it is an absolute thing according to God's wishes.

Now, Lee will enter the main stage of his explanation.

"Have you ever heard the love story of Merlin and the Lady of the Lake from the Arthurian legend?"

Everyone nodded in response.

There are two versions that are best known by various people in the world.

Merlin falls in love with the Lady of the Lake and lives happily ever after.

In the second version, Merlin is killed by the Lady of the Lake herself due to her jealousy of Merlin's proximity to King Arthur.

Now it's just waiting for Lee to mention which version, but-

"Actually, the Lady of the Lake is Merlin's adopted son. As he no longer appears in Arthurian legends, Merlin travels the world and meets an ordinary girl. She fell in love with the girl and that's where the original descendant of the Merlin Witch began her descent and of course, the blood of a Merlin flowed inside my body."

After hearing Lee's last sentence, Rena and Sophie started to get hysterical.

"Whataaa???!!!"

"You don't believe it?"

Rena began to deny Lee's statement.

"No, no, no way. I mean, even though he has a descendant it feels .. there's no way it's you!"

Lee sighed then showed his long white hair tail.

"Look at my hair's tail."

We all focus on the tail.

Lee cut it with scissors and not long after, the tail was back to length according to the previous size.

Lee asked us again.

"Do you believe now?"

Rena still denied it because she did not understand about Lee's hair tail.

"No, I still don't understand."

Long debates began to occur between Lee and Rena, like dogs and cats that bite each other. Over time, the debate between them heated up to include the names of various legendary figures in the world. While they were arguing, Sophie and I ran away secretly.
