"Away awake?" a beautiful woman in her forties stood in the kitchen smilingly greeting Lindy.
Mama..?
Lindy's eyes are glazed. The shadow of her childhood sitting at the kitchen table was waiting for a meal that was being made by a young woman with her hair tied back and wearing a floral apron. She was cooking something while muttering the song 'My sweet baby'. The shadow just flashed in his head.
The shadow was exactly like the woman standing in front of me right now.
Lindy could already guess who that woman was.
"For Aunt Elena" Lindy smiled. Aunt Silvia is Luki's mother, the attractive and graceful looking woman is somewhat similar to Luki.
"Hi Lin long time no see" he said as he hugged Lindy.
They were chatting in the kitchen bar drinking tea made by aunt Elena.
"Aunty thought you forgot auntie, aunt heard you came and just stopped by here look at you. Turns out you've grown up" said aunt Elena touched Londy's cheek gently.
Actually Lindy forgot her name. Farah's notes greatly helped her recognize those closest to her.
Helena Olivia (tante Elena), Luki's mother. Beautiful, tall, slim and always dress gracefully. Her hair is long brown curls. It looks a bit like Luki.
"You look a lot like Rina" he said. Belinda Katharina is Lindy's mother's name. And Elena was her mother's best friend from childhood.
"Yes, everyone who knows my mom says that" replied Lindy smiling happily.
Elena hugged him tightly.
"I'm so sad, you grew up without your mama. But I'm glad you grew up so well"
Lindy is eager to tell the truth behind her now there is a struggle of her father who always gives his best for her.
Elena wiped her tears with a cloth. Lindy almost choked because amused when she recognized the cloth it turned out to be a kitchen washcloth.
"What auntie is cooking, I think it's boiling" asked Lindy as she pointed at the boiling pot and full of steam.
"Oh, my God forgot me" cried aunty Elena in surprise and ran off the stove.
"I've cooked chicken soup, I've called your papa that auntie will take care of you"
"I think papa's too worried. I can take care of myself. Just because I stupefied papa makes a auntie bother" I said uncomfortable with her treatment is too good.
"Relax, in the aunt's house there is a maid. People at home do not like aunty who cook, yes already aunty cook here aja"
Lindy scoops up the chicken soup she was shoving and falls silent. Lindy is no wonder Luki and her father don't like her cooking. The soup could not be described in words at all.
"Enak kok "said Lindy praised him not have the heart of her who took pains to cook for him.
Aunt Elena was happy that Lindy praised her. And scoop up the soup and add it in Lindy's bowl.
"Spend yes, there are still many" he said beaming.
Lindy had to smile. Then struggle to finish that soup again.
Today Farah has class, so do Luki and Daniel. Lindy felt a little lonely, even though she was used to being alone abroad.
Lindy had a long chat with aunt Elena. About his vacation and school as well as the condition of his father who is super busy.
"I heard there's a lot of festivals here" Lindy asked as she helped Elena wash the dishes.
"Right be right, a lot of yesterday's lanterns and two more days there is a fireworks festival and the end of August this flower festival. Many marches and aunts open stands as well. You should see it, come with Luki"
"Yes aunty maybe I came with Farah." Like explaining to her that they had nothing to do with her.
"Well, aren't you the same as Luki? aren't you guys engaged?" he smiled at me.
"Tante knows yes, but it does exist, I guess it's a joke."
"It was Luki and you were seven years old when it wasn't wrong. Coming home from Miriam's house, Luki told auntie she was married to you" Elena said with a laugh.
Lindy wondered why the incident wasn't in the diary.
"Then the aunt said that because you guys are still small and can't get married but can get engaged so from that day on you become Luki's little fiancee." she said happily like getting a daughter-in-law.
"Well." said Lindy. Lindy is a bit sad because her status here is not single anymore.
Why should Luki?
......................
Finally Lindy is free from a aunt who likes to tease him. By reason of disposing of the trash he left safely.
Mother and son, Lindy thought.
"Daniel?" said surprised.
Damnit. Why would he have to face Daniel in his pajamas and a bag of trash in his hand. Really bad.
"Halo Lindy, sweet pajamas" she smiled at her rabbit-patterned pajamas. Lindy blushed though she didn't know what compliments or innuendos were but still Daniel always said sweetly making all the girls misunderstand.
Good thing I brought the pajamas I bought in new york last year.
"What's wrong, you haven't left yet?" ask Lindy to him.
Daniel nodded.
"Come here!" abugn.
Lindy approaching.
I heard a small voice. It sounds like a crying alien baby.
"What's that sound?" ask Lindy.
Daniel took out a small cardboard box from the bushes in front of the fence.
"Nih, for you" he handed over the cardboard.
"Forku?" ask Lindy not to believe it.
Lindy put the trash bag over and approached the box Daniel was holding and looked at the contents.
From inside the box appeared an adorable little creature in white furry and meowed loudly.
"Geez, funny thing." she lifted the little cat up.
"I picked it up, I guess she'll fit in with you, I can't keep it because my mom's allergic to fur." Daniel explains while thrusting at Lindy.
"Thank you, this is the funniest gift I've ever received" I said happily as I stroked the little cat.
"It's good you like it" she smiled looking at the other side of Lindy while playing with the cat. Expiry's adorable. More adorable than that little cat. Makes Daniel want to hug her and make her sleep on his lap.
"Of course he likes , he's sweet" Lindy said happily while stroking him.
"Yes you're right, so sweet" Daniel said slowly to make me look. Daniel looked at Lindy without blinking. Strange look.
"What's his name" asked Lindy to shift the mood.
"You give it a name, it's yours" he replied.
"Mmmm..what is 'centil' ?" my word. Daniel laughs.
"He's a centil" he said.
Lindy nodded while laughing.
"You leave late, I'll take care of it" Lindy said, pushing Daniel's shoulder.
Daniel checked his watch and was surprised.
"You're right, I have to go"
Lindy waved at Daniel like a wife dropping off her husband.
"Daniel thank you!" lindy said as she waved her hand.
Daniel turned around and smiled and gestured 'ok' at her.
****
Lindy looked at Daniel who was far away, she held Centil and turned around.
Lindy was surprised to see Luki looking at him sharply and a little annoyed. Hands clenched.
