The arrival of Viren the next day was not at all comforting. Moreover, Viren brought many guard soldiers. He placed the soldiers around the hut.
I glared at Viren. Her bright expression provoked my emotions. “Good. So you guys are now gaping me as a convict.”
Sure, Viren didn't respond to my statement. I swear Raden Wijaya and all his stubbornness. Does he still want to continue the proposal? That's the most ridiculous idea. I even swore I wouldn't get married. No one will use my power against him.
So why does he still care about me?
I turned the golden shoulder blade given by Raden Wijaya. His open look is smooth. Spills in-ton sparkles reflect light. Up to now, I've been feeling unworthy of it.
This time, I wanted to express my feelings. Why do people always ask me to do things I don't want to? Why can't I even pour my heart out to my best friend? I pulled Viren and forced him to follow me. We stay away from the cottage. I searched for a quiet place from the soldiers. When we arrived at a field, I stopped. I paced back and forth nervously. Viren was standing near me. I think he's nervous too. He kicked the fruit into a tree.
“Arya Virendra ”
“Sendhika, Princess.”
My heart is still hearing that formal answer. I got angry and nagged him, “Can't you just refuse your boss' orders? You think I'm like a goat to be stolen, huh? What are you doing here and there, huh? Are you crazy too?”
Beyond a doubt, my barrage of scolding made Viren laugh out loud. I got to gawking.
“It has stopped taking apparently,” Viren said. “I think you're still mad at me.”
“Aren't you the one who was mad at me? Who's avoiding us meeting, huh?”
Viren was grinning and scratching his head. “Ya, already. I apologize.”
“Then, immediately pull those soldiers away from here!”
Viren shakes. “After all, here is being built a village. Many people will come to the village. Residents of Majapahit Village can be good people, or bad people. Whoever they are, we don't know what they're gonna tease you or not.”
“Majapahit Village, yes?” I looked at the fruit. “Word name.”
“Yes, this is because one of the soldiers ate this fruit and it tastes bitter.” Viren pointed at the fruit at his feet.
“Konyol.”
“Raden Wijaya directly agree.” There was a mockery in Viren's tone of voice. “Majapahit according to her a good name. Because according to him, this village became a bitter witness hi-dupnya.”
I clicked my tongue. Too sentimental. I absolutely do not understand what he calls the bitter life. What is so bitter about his life as a prince?
“Raden Wijaya ordered me to persuade you back.” Viren was honest.
“Stay tell me I'm not ready.”
Viren scratched his head again. “Hopefully his punishment is not as severe as the punishment given by Prince Ardaraja.”
I recognize that plain grin. Ah, Pandir su-dah is back apparently.
“Rear ” I sulked.
“What makes you unprepared?” sue Viren. Accidentally, his eyes caught a necklace around my neck. With a single move, Viren grabbed the necklace. He clasped too tight. As if, he would crumble my necklace.
“Princess still wears this necklace?”
“A miracle, that necklace still hangs around my neck. I saved it as a reminder.”
Viren said nothing. For a moment, he wiped my necklace. Not coming to mind at all, Viren went far. Viren swings his hand and throws my necklace through the trees.
I screamed in shock. My anger went back up to the crown. My face must be ugly. I widened my eyes and pointed at Viren.
“Why did Kakang throw away my necklace?” I was crying han-han. The touch of Viren in my head was stinging, painful. Indirectly, Viren implied that it was time to throw away all our memories.
“Daughter, since childhood, you secretly studied all about the politics of the kingdom.” Viren says. “From there, you know the obligation. You are aware of the responsibility towards the state and the people. There is no teaching about love and all the feelings that come with it.”
Viren instantly took some distance. My face was hot as if there was a fire pinned there.
“Princess ”
I intentionally approached him. Forcing Viren to look at me. Anger over Raden Wijaya's treatment. Disappointment because Viren threw away the only memory item I had. All those feelings are blurred pur stir. Until I can't figure out my own emotions.
“Alright, Kakang. I will comply with your request.” My tone of voice made Viren freeze. A flash of hurt flashed through his bead, but I don't care anymore.
“Tell Raden Wijaya to pick me up de-worthy.” I gritted my teeth. “I'd like to be picked up by a golden train. I want her to give me the best clothes. And I... won't come back when he wants to flood earth with the blood of the soldiers!”
Viren seemed increasingly surprised by my words. He's drooping down. Her lips twitched, but no sound came out of her mouth.
My eyes are hot, but I don't want to cry. It was as if the rest of my honor was in my words.
“Tell Raden Wijaya to be nice pa-da yunda-yundaku. I want, she's being fair as husband and protector.”
“I'll convey all your requests.” That word sounds weak.
“And last terms, Brother Virendra. I want to hear one confession from you.” My gaze now is really piercing Viren. “Do you really have no love and feelings?”
It took Viren a long time to think about it. I saw Viren looking down. It was like seeing an accused in a court of law. Many times, he stole glances. But the wound dashed all of the ri-pagan feelings. I was too disappointed in him.
“For me, love and feelings are not comparable de-ngan my devotion as a knight.”
“Then why did you throw away that necklace? How big is your head, thinking that I'm wearing it because I keep feeling to you?”
Oh, Gusti! I am grateful to be able to say those words so well. My throat was dry. My chest tightened with tears. I almost fainted at that moment. My eyes were glazed over and I couldn't guess what answer I would receive.
In reality, Viren didn't answer me. He just grabbed me in one hug. The grip made my breath even more tight. I just found out, Viren can bend like this. I feel fragile. Even I felt, my bones would crumble and I would soon be crushed.
“I'll never be able to lie to you, Princess.”
Viren didn't let me get away. He didn't let me look at him. He just hugged me like he wouldn't let me go again.
“Rack!” I gathered all the courage I had. The wound in my heart was gaping wide, but I ha-rus admitted it.
“You are right, Kakang. There is no love in the life of a princess like me,” I said softly. “I once hoped, you would fight for me. Though I guess I was wrong. You took an oath to let go of kanku.”
Viren's breath jerks at my head. The handle was loose and I immediately looked up to see it.
“I'm sorry, Princess.”
“Feelings grow and bloom. Wijayakusuma. Glance of the recap before it disappears.” My words are sad.
Viren was silent, but he didn't let me go. Em-busan winds gushed between us, blowing away the wishful thinking formed for a moment. Then it's like Randa Tapak's pistils.
“Please, let me hug you this once, Princess.” Viren whispered in my ear. A voice that was too soft, so I felt it was just the sound of a sweep of wind.
