What Happened To You

"You must be Daoist Yusri. I am the Patriarch of the Xuan Family and Xuan Wuhan's father, Xuan Chao. Thank you for taking the time to visit our humble family." Patriarch Xuan clasped his hands together and bowed to them respectfully with a friendly smile on his face.

"Thank you for coming at me." Yusri followed his movements and returned the bow.

"Please, get inside."

Yusri and Melia then follow him to the big building.

"Welcome, Esteemed Guest."

Two rows of servants standing parallel to each other bowed to them in unison as they entered the house.

As soon as they were in the living room, the servants served tea to them, and Patriarch Xuan spoke as Yusri held the teacup, "I have heard about you from my daughter, Daoist Yusri, and I have to say, you are as talented as... No, you have exceeded my expectations. Reaching the Fifth Level Spirit Warrior realm at such a young age, I can only imagine how talented your Master is."

"And I can't help but ask, how old are you this year?" Patriarch Xuan looked at him with clear eyes filled with interest.

"I was 18 years old three months ago," Yusri replied casually.

"E-E-Eighteen?!" Patriarch Xuan exclaimed, almost standing up from shock. Although Yusri looks young, he doesn't really expect him to be such a young man because appearances are the most deceptive part about Cultivators with Melia as the perfect example.

"I can't be trusted... I think you're approaching my daughter's age, maybe even a little older, but unfortunately, to think you're actually younger than her for 3 years!" Patriarch Xuan praised him without feeling ashamed, even feeling a little envious of his talent.

And while he wanted to ask Yusri about his background, Patriarch Xuan didn't want to appear too inquisitive at their first meeting.

It was at this moment that the door of the room opened, and a beautiful young lady wearing delicate yet striking makeup entered the room.

Yusri turned to look at Xuan Wuhan and smiled as he saw her, "Hello, Xuan Wuhan. I came to visit you."

"Yusri Daoy! Thank you for— What happened to you?!"

Xuan Wuhan suddenly exclaimed in a shocked tone in the middle of his sentence, surprising Yusri and Patriarch Xuan.

"Eh?" Yusri looked with wide eyes as Xuan Wuhan ran towards him aggressively.

"How are you doing in the Fifth Level Spirit Warrior realm?! The last time I saw you, you were only at the first level! And that was just a few days ago!" he looked at her with a face.

"What!?" Patriarch Xuan stood up from shock after hearing the puzzling words of his daughter. Not even a cultivator monster could increase their cultivation so quickly! What kind of background does Yusri have?

"W-Well... Several things have happened since the auction house." Yusri said with a strange smile on his face.

"You must have had a fortunate enough encounter to improve your cultivation so quickly. How envious. I also want a lucky meeting..." Xuan Wuhan sighed loudly.

"I wouldn't call them lucky events, though..." Yusri shook his head with a bitter smile.

"I met my sister here," Yusri calmly replied.

"Oh..." Xuan Wuhan muttered, feeling somewhat disappointed.

"How long are you planning to stay here?" he asked a moment later.

"I'm not sure, but it probably won't take long" he said.

"Do you have a place to stay? If not, you can stay here for a while. We have many guest rooms."

"It probably won't be necessary, because I'll meet with my sister in a few hours. Thanks for the offer."

"Don't worry. If you need a place to stay, you know where to go" she told him.

"What about dinner? It was being prepared right now," Patriarch Xuan suddenly said.

"I can stay for that." Yusri.

While they were waiting for dinner to be ready, Xuan Wuhan asked Yusri about his activities after they separated from the auction house.

Yusri then tells them about his encounter with the Demon Spiders and the Mountain Sovereign in Pang City.

Both Xuan Wuhan and Patriarch Xuan listened to his adventures with fallen jaws. How can so much happen in just a few days? Furthermore, it did not explain how he managed to increase his cultivation base so quickly.

"You said you don't belong to any sect, right? Do you intend to join one in the future?" Xuan Wuhan asked him afterwards.

"To be honest, I don't know. I haven't seen enough of this world to want to stay in one place for a long time" he said.

"If that's your only concern then I don't think you need to worry because only the newer disciples have their movements and activities limited within the Sect, either, mostly for their own safety." Xuan Wuhan said, and he continued, "Inner Disciples and Core Disciples like me have a lot of freedom. In fact, most of us spend more time outside than inside the sect."

"Take me as an example. I belong to the sect, yet I spend more time outside than in the sect. As long as I don't slack off and continue to develop my cultivation, they won't limit my movements."

"And with your talent and your current cultivation, it is almost guaranteed that you will become a Core Disciple once you join a sect. If you are still worried, then you can join my sect. My grandfather was an Elder in the sect, and with his support, even the Sect Leader would have to think twice before doing anything to you."

Hearing his words, Yusri nodded and said, "I'll think about it."

Although he was not interested in the Sect at first, if he wanted to have a better understanding of Cultivators, he would have to stay around them for some time. And since Xuan Wuhuan had assured him that he would not restrict his freedom, it seemed like the perfect time to join him.

However, since he still needed his sister's opinion on the matter, he wouldn't make any decisions for now.
