Sweetest Farewell
“I have to leave this city,” said Rona started the conversation.
“Your determination is already round to continue school there?” ask lover.
Rona just nodded slowly. His eyes glared far towards the sun that was beginning to set. The atmosphere of that afternoon made his chaotic heart calm down a little. Rona has been accepted into the university she has long dreamed of. But the problem he has to face is that he will be separated by distance and time with his lover, Dawn. Yogyakarta is not a city that can be reached only by two or three hours drive from Probolinggo.
“So what's your decision? You're just gonna end this relationship?” continued.
“If you want to survive the distance and time that separate us, I don't care either,” replied Rona.
“You want us to undergo LDR?”
“Iya. But can you?” ask Rona back.
“I will try and keep my heart until you return,” said Dawn smilingly looking at her lover.
“You promise?”
“Of course,” said Fajar tightly grip the fingers of his lover. She doesn't want to be separated from the Rona she loves so much.
3 months later…
“Hai, Rona! What more?” ask someone from behind Rona.
“Search references about my duties,” answers are brief.
“Can I help you? Looks like you've had a hard time finding it in this many books,” bargained Toni.
“No need, you can help me by going to bother me today,” he said.
“Anged huh? Okay, I'm sorry. I'm going first. Bye,” said Toni while leaving Rona with a pile of books that are quite a lot.
Rona is relieved that Toni has left her alone. He considers Toni as a bully because the young man always follows her.
“You too ketus expel him, Na,” suddenly Sarah reprimands Rona who is still busy with her book. Sarah is his best friend from High School and also a college with him.
Rona only sighed hearing the words of her friend.
“Alright, I know you don't like her but I think she likes you,” Sarah's tease.
“Already, stop talking to him,” Rona immediately look for his phone. She suddenly remembered her lover and intended to send him a message.
“You're texting to Dawn?”
Rona nodded and kept busy typing the text she was about to send to Dawn.
“You know not, when I came home to Probolinggo yesterday I saw Fajar walking with his ex,”.
“Mantan? You mean Tasya?” rona said in shock.
“Iya, did Dawn not tell you?”
Rona shakes. He was worried that Dawn had forgotten their promise to keep each other feeling. But he tries to think positively. Maybe Fajar just wants to meet his ex without any more intent between them.
Sar, where are you?

Dawn immediately slid to Sarah's boarding house. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by his lover's friend. Dawn then tells him that she wants to surprise him that she is going to visit Rona. At the same time want to see the activities carried out by Rona in the city. Soon Toni comes to Sarah's boarding house and gives her something.
“Sar, I'm asking for help yes. Give this letter to Rona!” her door.
“What is this letter?” sarah asked, taking a blue envelope from Toni's hand.
“I don't want Rona to always jutek me every time I approach her. Therefore I want to tell all my feelings to him,” Toni said.
The dawn that was with Sarah was shocked to hear the young man's words. He did not expect that Rona had been close to the young man before him. His heart heated up instantly and rumbled to the point of boiling his emotions. But he held back and tried to be ordinary and indifferent to hearing stories from Toni even though his heart was burning with jealousy.
“Iya, she is Dawn, lover.”.
“I'm a friend of Sarah's, introduce,” said Fajar cut Sarah's words while shaking hands with Toni. Dawn does not want Toni to know that she is Rona's lover who will inevitably cause problems that she does not want.
After getting acquainted and talking, Toni said goodbye and reminded Sarah not to forget to give her letter to Rona.
“You didn't say that you were Rona's lover?”
“Not necessary. Where's the letter from him? Let me hand it to Rona,” pinta Fajar.
Sarah also gave the letter to Dawn. Soon, Fajar decides to meet Rona with an erratic heart.
Rona's phone rang a sign of a phone coming in. She smiled happily when she saw him on her phone with the name of her lover. He immediately picked up the phone from the person he missed so much.
“Hallo, Dawn. How are you doing? It's been a long time since you called me”
“Sorry, Na. I busy. What are you doing?” ask Dawn.
“Again relax in the room. You alone?” ask Rona back.
“I'm on my way to your hostel. There's something I want to talk about,” he replied.
“You're in Yogya? Gee. This is a surprise for me, right? Alright I will prepare,” said Rona happily.
“Iya, already yes,” sahut Fajar while closing the phone.
On the way, Fajar still remembered the first time he met Rona, the girl so caught his attention that it made him want to have her. However, when they are already united by love, they must be separated by distance and time, their loyalty has been tested by the situation. Now the decision is in his hands. He wants to keep Rona but he feels his relationship is vulnerable to ending because of the parties who try to harass their loyalty.
A few minutes later, Dawn arrived at Rona's boarding house. There he saw his girlfriend waiting in front of the hostel.
“Where are you taking me?” asked Rona excitedly.
“How about going to Parang Tritis, sunset there must be good,” the proposal when getting in the car.
“Alright,” Dawn immediately drove her car to the place her lover wanted.
After a few minutes, they finally arrived at their destination. Rona immediately went down and ran to enjoy the air there. He had long wanted to go to the place but still no one had invited him.
In the distance, the waves rolled so big. The longer, the ocean waves shrink when they reach land. Kids love to play around the waves. Other visitors prefer to sit in the sand while looking at the beauty of Parang Tritis.
“You enjoyed it?” Dawn opens the conversation.
“Iya. You said you asked me because you wanted to say something. About what?”
Dawn then reached into his pocket and handed a letter from Toni to her lover.
“Buklah!” said it.
Rona then opened the letter and read the contents. It contains an outpouring of Toni's heart regarding her feelings for him. Rona does not expect that Toni's intentions always follow her because the young man has feelings for her.
“I don't know since when you were close to that man. How did you answer to the letter” asked Dawn.
“I have nothing to do with Toni. I'm still keeping my loyalty to you,” said Rona. “You yourself what about Tasya?” Rona tried to divert the conversation.
Dawn is shocked to hear Rona's words, she does not believe that Rona knows her closeness back with her ex.
“You need not be surprised by my words,” said Rona as if knowing the thoughts of Dawn.
“I am currently close to him. But I just consider him a friend. I sympathize with him because he's turned out to be good, unlike his old nature. You must know this from Sarah, right?”
Rona nodded. He just stared at the beauty of the sea that lay before his eyes. He did not seem to want to hear the words of Dawn that slowly slashed his heart.
“So how do you decide?” ask Fajar
Rona was silent for a moment. He then sighed for a while and started saying, “Sorry, it seems like we can't continue this relationship anymore,”.
“So you chose Toni?”
“No, I will concentrate more on my lectures. Maybe our loyalty test is pretty over here. I don't want to hurt you and I don't want to be sad when you're with your ex there,” she replied.
“I also will not necessarily return to Tasya,” said Fajar.
Their conversation stopped. Their minds raged on their own in each other's minds. The atmosphere of the sunset eased the anxiety between them. With uncertain feelings, Fajar set foot leaving the beach which became a witness to the separation of his love with the woman he loved so far. So did Rona.
When he got back in the car, Rona only regretted his decision. He might not be able to meet again with a young figure like Dawn. However, this was the decision he had taken for the good among them.
Song “The Sweetest Separation” flowed beautifully in the car ushering them into their respective futures.
