Chapters 30. Irene Heartbroken

Seeing Vegas' reaction to knowing that Irene was a vampire made Irene's heart ache. She did not expect that the happy life and marriage that was built suddenly fell apart just because the actions of her husband's friend who was long enough to suspect him. A liverache? Sure. Disappointed? Very!
Irene didn't know what to say anymore because she couldn't explain to Vegas and certainly Vegas wouldn't listen to what Irene was saying right now. “What should I do at this time? Hiks hix hix ... I can't lose Vegas because she's my first love and my true love. If this makes Vegas break his promise and love me no more .. then ... I will die.”
Irene was crying. He didn't expect that things would happen like this. Even Vegas did not want to look at him at all. Irene was afraid of losing her true love. He's in love and doesn't want to live without Vegas.
“Does this feel like a broken heart? Does this feel like it is not taken for granted by people who say they love forever? Is this what Papa Mama meant when I chose Vegas? Humans are not necessarily able to accept what it is because knowing the reality is bitter to have a vampire partner. I didn't expect that happiness felt so short and heartbreak could have happened.”
Irene crying. He only realized what his parents said about marriage with humans at great risk besides that when humans find out that his partner is a vampire does not necessarily want to accept the reality. Irene was hurt by that.
“Irene ...” Jacob appears suddenly in Irene's apartment. She is worried about her sister's condition which must be very sad because of the revealing identity as a vampire in front of her husband.
“Sister Jacob?”
“Irene, already, don't keep crying. Vampire tears are very valuable, do not be used only to cry for humans who are not necessarily currently also crying for your departure. This is what is a big risk like what Papa and Mama said before.” Jacob hugged his sister, but could not say anything more. He was saddened by the current situation.
“Kak ... I love Vegas, Brother. I really love him. I can't live without it.” Irene cried while saying that many times to her brother.

Jacob tries to calm his sister down and hopes that Vegas can think calmly and accept Irene. Jacob also felt sad because most likely if Vegas could not accept Irene's condition, then the worst could happen. Yes, Irene could die a slow death if Vegas reneged on the promise and no longer loved each other.
Irene hoped there would be a miracle. Nor does he know what Vegas currently has in mind. He could only wait for Vegas to call him. Maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow or maybe next week. Whether it will happen or not, Irene does not know and is not sure if all of that can be realized? Miracles that are either true or just a fairy tale, Irene awaits the miracle in her romantic relationship that is already on the edge. Is Vegas willing to accept Irene as she is or just leave Irene?
The day passed. Irene still felt hurt. Something he had never felt. Jacob still accompanies her and asks her to “makan” or which means drinking “the typical red” wine for vampires, but Irene doesn't want to at all. Irene was not hungry, not thirsty. There is absolutely no other taste, except heartache. Irene just found out, this is how heartbreak feels. Vampires can also be heartbroken and hurt by love.
