CHAPTER 14: The Night of the Waiting

Exactly one week after Anita came to my college and made an impromptu dinner to celebrate my birthday. And tonight is the time, right on my 22nd birthday.

Mom and I have prepared a pretty dress for us to wear at dinner tonight. Mom and I will wear a pink dress. "Sister Anita reservation on the second floor, let me deliver." The restaurant staff directed us to a table that Anita had ordered on the second floor.

I was looking for Anita and our friends who were said to be invited to tonight's event, but none of us saw a table that was a little crowded.

Yep! His father aka 'Beby' was present and was already sitting at the table where we were going to have dinner together. Anita obviously planned everything, she didn't invite our friends as she said.

"Lia, come on, why dumbass?" Mom asked me to hurry up to Anita's desk.

I'm so nervous, I can't imagine how awkward the situation will be, because Rendy and 'Beby' are at the same table, not to mention Anita must have prepared 'something' to knock me mentally.

I saw 'Beby' looking at me in a gasp, his eyes not blinking one bit, I hid my nervousness and anxiety by keeping my head down. We hadn't seen each other in a few days, and he didn't even call me when I had difficulty contacting him.

"Hi mother, thank you for coming." Anita welcomes her mother and hugs her.

"Thank you for inviting us to dinner, baby." Mother said to Anita after taking off their embrace.

Anita then hugged me and said happy birthday to me, while mom was chatting with Beby. Then this is the time I faced Beby and had to greet in front of many people.

"Good year, Lia. You look so pretty tonight." Beby shook my hand while looking at me for quite a while. I replied with a shy smile.

You're also handsome once tonight with your new suit and haircut. I said from the heart

"Okay, let's all sit down please..." Said Anita made me and Beby to immediately separate and sit on the bench that has been provided.

I sat down next to Anita and faced Beby, while mother sat next to Beby and faced Anita. There was one empty bench on my left, and I knew it must be a bench prepared for Rendy.

Anita did deliberately set all this up. I murmured in my heart.

The waiter came to our table and offered us to order a meal. Anita and mother were busy looking at the food menu while I was misbehaving because Beby kept looking at me.

"Oh yeah Lia, Rendy's coming right? Want to go to the food first or wait for him to come?" Anita asked suddenly until I saw Beby a little confused. I was also surprised by Anita's question, and I think it's time she will launch the action to bring me down.

"Rendy?" Asked 'Beby' while looking at me and Anita.

"Yes, Rendy's Lia's boyfriend, yeah." Anita deliberately answered in a loud and stressed voice.

"Rendy's coming, that's it." Mom pointed to Rendy.

Rendy approached our table confidently and with a smile. We all turned to Rendy, and not only us, almost everyone in this place also turned to her. Honestly, he currently looked very handsome and dashing in his suit, no less handsome than my Beby.

But, soon it will be awkward and Anita must have been looking forward to this moment, the moment of meeting me, her mother, father, and Rendy.
