Chapter 48. The Surprising Confession

The sound of the slap sounded so painful. Sam's cheeks look red. Lia stared at her own palm which felt throbbing and reddening.

"Is there anything you want to say? Is there anything I need to know? What are you hiding from your wife?"

Sam was surprised to receive the slap. He never expected his wife to give him a slap.

"Tell me, what do you want to know?"

"We're involved in something. Explain to me what is this about?" lia shouted with exploding anger, even her body looked trembling.

Sam shut his mouth tightly, he just kept quiet and started walking into his study. Sam doesn't want Leon to hear or even know what he shouldn't know.

Seeing her husband shut up and walk away leaving her, Lia grew even more upset. He no longer wants to be lied to, at least if something happens that is not expected, he must be ready to face it.

The woman resentfully followed her husband's steps into her office space. Leon simply accompanied their steps with a look in his eyes.

Lia closed Sam's office door. His face still had a very clear anger. "You have to tell me, at least I'm entitled to think about how to act."

Sam sat at his desk. His hands were massaging his forehead, he did not want to reveal his secret. But on the other hand, he confirmed his wife's words. Right, he should know how to act.

"Alright, Honey. You know, if I love you so much."

"No. I never knew that loving someone would have to be at the cost of life." Lia answered with a sigh.

Sam sighed. He has to be patient because he is the guilty one.

"Darling, I intend to end all this. I just want to focus on the music world. But it looks like they don't want me to give up this job because they need a supplier."

"supplier? What is this all about? Are you involved in a crime?" Those pair of pretty eyes were round as if they could not believe what he heard.

"Remember, this is all because I want to end it, for our sake. I want a quiet and happy life" Sam said in a desperate tone.

"alright. Tell me, what's this about." Lia was getting impatient.

Sam stood up, walked over to a painting of a saxophone on the wall and lowered it. He dialed the combination number of his safe and took out a brown envelope from inside the safe.

Lia's heart seemed to stop beating when she saw the packaging containing white powder coming out of the brown envelope. Suddenly both of his legs were unable to support his body. Lia staggered back, her body clinging and slumped down to the floor.

"Lia, baby!" shouted Sam. He carried his wife's body onto the sofa.

So many surprising things happened to him today. Events that have never been predicted before. She never thought she would be kidnapped, almost raped and now has to know that her husband is a city --

His head seemed to want to explode receiving all these unexpected surprises.

The woman ran all the way through the hospital, she saw no one there. Somehow the hospital, which is usually crowded by patients, suddenly so quiet. Like no sign of life.

He saw a man standing at the end of the hallway in front of him. Look at him with a sad look.

He grabbed her wrist and pushed her hard against the wall of the room. The woman rebuked him loudly, "Foolish base! Why are you acting so stupid, you can't die! I still need you, indigo abal-abal. Aware." A hard slap landed on his cheek.

Radith's body jerks in the hospital bed. The horizontal line on the monitor screen suddenly turned irregular.

The sound of the heart detection machine sounds again with a regular rhythm. The doctor breathed a sigh of relief and put back the pacemaker he had just worn.

"Radith, behold. You're still very young. There's still a lot of work you haven't done, son." The doctor took off his rubber gloves.

"Stay monitor him and give me his progress report" he told a nurse beside him.

"Good Doc!"

Lia opened her eyes, looking at the face of Samuel who looked extremely anxious. He threw away his face, still angry and upset.

"I'm sorry, you have to get dragged into this. I didn't mean to get you in trouble---"

"You'd better solve all these problems. I don't want to get involved" Lia interrupted. She did not want to hear any reason come out of her husband's mouth.

The woman stood up and walked out of her husband's office. He walked to their room and pulled out a large bag. Lia started packing all her clothes and belongings.

"What are you gonna do?" Sam pulled his wife's hand. This is not what he wanted.

"Let go, Sam!" yells.

"No, before you forgive me." Sam is back on his ego. His eyes looked intimidating as if no one could resist him.

"I'm leaving, I need to rethink the fate of this family. I hope you do the same, too" Lia replied, she returned the gaze of the man before her without the slightest fear.

All that fear had gone away because of all the things he had been through. It has been forged by things it did not expect.

"I've thought about it, Lia. Didn't I tell you I'd stop all this madness. So please. Help me, support me so I can be the perfect husband for you." Sam softened his voice again. She really hoped that Lia would not leave her. In addition to loving the woman who is now his wife, Sam is also worried that his secret will be revealed after Lia leaves his house.

Lia shook her head. It's not an easy decision. Staying by Samuel's side will make Leon happy. But danger will always lurk.

"Please, baby. Give me some time, give me a chance. I'll prove it to you" pleaded Samuel. His hands still clasped his wife's hand tightly.

"Sam, I think I need some alone time to think about the future of our marriage." The woman took off the hand that was holding her back and re-packed her clothes.

Samuel bent his knees, held Lia's right hand again and again pleaded with her. "Dear, give me a chance. Pleases. Let me take care of you, make you happy and prove my love for our family."

Lia's tears began to nest in her eye pelup. He's never seen Sam act this far. Even begging. Her heart became worried, should she leave her husband or should she give him a chance.

She looked into her husband's eyes, looking for something in them that would convince him of the decision he would make.

"Mommy, can we just give daddy a chance, Leon doesn't want our family to be torn apart again."
