"we're leaving now man" Jason said, pleading with the man sitting at the wheel.
"No sir, your condition is not good enough to travel out of town" Herman said.
"But man, I..."
"I understand sir, but with your condition like this we can not risk traveling far. It is better to recover the wound first, just one week away" explained Herman to his stubborn boss.
"I can't wait that long man, or better I go alone" Jason insisted.
"Sir!! Don't act stupid, it's for your own good! Wait a few more days" Herman's voice began to rise in annoyance with Jason's stone-headed stance.
"Now we're home!" He said again while driving his car immediately towards the Hartono family home.
Jason only shook his head in frustration then leaned his head on the back of the car seat, his eyes closed withstanding the longing for the figure he wanted to meet immediately.
Meanwhile Ibram slammed the door of his room, one hand blocking a can of soda that has been reduced by half.
Several times the man clucked in annoyance, with his lunglai resting his ass on the floor with his body leaning against the legs of the bed.
His gaze was directionless, sometimes staring out the window.
Staring at the flickering lights of the city that resembled a sprinkling of stars out there.
Normally it would calm his heart, but it was different this time.
He rubbed once again the corner of his lips that felt painful and swollen.
His eyes closed, his head that felt heavy and hot was propped up on the end of his bed.
His mind fluttered, Jason's arrival today made his mood a mess.
Ibram could clearly see that the flame of love was indeed burning strongly in the eyes of the man for Wulan, and vice versa.
For a moment before Ibram felt victorious and superior to Jason, at least his position and status was clearer than Jason Dimata Wulan. Although Wulan had not yet opened her heart to Ibram, she did not want to give up.
Ibram is not a married man, no one will be hurt by his love for Wulan.
But it turned out that everything was getting further and further from expectations, the further out of his reach.
Wulan had misunderstood, and so had she.
The flashback
"Sir please calm down, there's no need to make a fuss" Herman interrupted the two men who were fighting with their mouths.
"You better calm down too sir" Herman told Ibram as he stretched his hand to make distance between Ibram and Jason.
"Better we sit down first, and talk about it okay?!" Herman said as he stared alternately at Jason and Ibram.
Jason snorted in annoyance, though so did not refute what Herman was saying.
The two men sat facing each other, Jason's eyes staring sharply at the two narrowed Ibram eyes.
The smiley face that the teacher always displayed was as if it was lost and erased just like that.
"So you better tell us where the girl is now?" Herman asked Ibram nicely.
"I won't just hand Wulan over to come back to your house, won't! She's a good woman, I won't let her be fooled by your foul seduction" Ibram said.
"Hey, watch your talk!! You know nothing about me and Wulan" Jason replied by pointing his index finger at Ibram's face.
"We both love each other and there's nothing wrong with that" Jason said.
"Nothing wrong??? How can there be nothing wrong while you yourself are married and have children" Ibram snapped, annoyed instead of playing with Jason's pretentious demeanor.
"What?? But Jason's not married sir!" Herman interjected, his forehead wrinkled in an incomprehension.
"What?? Whatdoes thatmean?? But Miss Andini?? Rayyan it-?" Ibram was confused and lost for words.
Jason just snorted, throwing his face the other way.
A sinister smile fell on his lips for a moment, his head shaking.
Right, the man before him was as stupid and funny as Wulan.
"Andini's not my wife, she's my sister-in-law!" Jason light up while arranging his seat.
Ibram still does not understand, all this time he thought Jason was a man who had a family.
If Andini isn't his wife, then Rayyan??
"Rayyan is my nephew, but I'm his legal guardian" Jason said as if he understood what Ibram was thinking.
"Ja.so-" Ibram stammered, his shoulders suddenly decayed.
So all this time Wulan has misunderstood, just like him.
Flashback off
Ibram pinched his throbbing forehead, the man felt as if the little bit of hope that remained had now fused together with his broken heart.
There's nothing left, nothing to stand in the way of Jason and Wulan's new love, not himself.
He sipped the soda in his hand again until it was gone.
With frenzy thrown the can hit the wall of his room that was dim.
Ibram could have said nothing about where Wulan went to Jason.
But such cheating would only make him a loser.
"I'm a good person, right? Seeing Wulan happy will make me happy too right?!" he said to himself.
Comforting himself despite his heart being so sick, imagining maybe out there Jason was rushing to pick up his love.
Imagining a happy Wulan knowing the truth. There will be no more opportunities for her, will you??
His face was smiling but his eyes were so hot, there was a clear dew inundated in the corner of his eyes.
"Damn it" he murmured while pressing the corner between his eyes with his thumb.
