8. One Step Truth - part 2

“The truth is we don’t know anything about this world,” ‒Alvian Tristan

“Actually the existence of our ability is indeed related to the emergence of the wild virus. After a few years the virus has not gone away, many scientists from around the world are looking for antidotes and vaccines in various ways. But you know for yourself, right if the virus can still roam until now? That means they did not succeed from then until now. Yeah, I'm the one who just realized it right now just feeling smug.

“Until finally there is a small group of scientists who dare to do genetic engineering. The experiment involved human embryos, artificial genes, and samples of the virus. Actually the purpose of the experiment is to make the human forerunner stronger and have immune immune from the virus. I don't know if their goals change over time or not. But that's what I knew at first.

“Their experimental rabbits are abandoned babies, 1-year-old children, and embryos in the womb, including embryos from five pregnant women scientists. But apparently, of the many guinea pigs, only 5 babies were born, one of which is us. While other babies show symptoms of side effects that cause death.”

“Hah? Crazy!” sergeant Alvian doesn't believe it. He gulped and looked at his palm. “What experiments can make me control ice?”

“Yeah, it's crazy. I don't understand what's being mixed into our genetics so we can produce diverse abilities. Very unreasonable.”

“Again, wouldn't it be if doing it directly to humans could violate the rule of law? Why should it be human?” alice asked, grimacing softly. Imagining how babies who have to die from failure alone has made him creep. “However also ... it is cruel ... in those who die just for being a failed product.”

"I think so too. But I don't know, actually success is their secret. But unfortunately, there was a traitor within the group of scientists who dared to publicize. Violent condemnation from the government makes them to be put to death and get the title of a top class fugitive.”

“High-end dollar?” it was Alvian's turn to ask. The man was massaging his forehead which felt a bit dizzy.  From listening earlier, he tried to digest all of Lucas' sentences logically but his brain could not really believe it.

“Yes, because they are very genius scientists, tricking people like that is easy. The case is actually an old case and it seems the government has also closed its voice regarding the scientist. They think if the scientist has succeeded in the death law all. But it seems they missed something. The proof, Professor Lupin is still alive today,”

“Professor Lupin? What did you mention at the beginning? Means he's also evil dong!” exclaimed Alice in an unintentionally loud voice. Even Lucas had to code it for the girl to shrink the volume of her voice. “Ups, sorry.”

“I also thought like that before. But if you think logically, there must be a reason behind an action. Professor Lupin is not a bad guy. He was not directly involved in the research, even he was the first to argue. Besides, if he's evil, he abandoned us from the beginning. But in fact, he even financed education, houses, meals. He's been considered my own father,” said Lucas slowly. The Tristan twins can feel the glare of Lucas' eyes turning shady. Apparently, the blonde guy really loved Professor Lupin.

“Since when did you meet the professor?” alvian asked as he sipped back his drink which had been rather cold. “Em ... maybe two years ago?”

“Uhuk!” Alvian chokes. He coughed immediately until Alice stroked his shoulder slowly. Finding an anxious look, Alvian just shook his head slowly. “Sorry, I'm just shocked.”

Alice pushed a bottle of water out of her bag. Alvian smiled and drank it slowly. A momentary pause when Alvian tried to take a deep breath and turned to look at Alice with a difficult to interpret view. Realizing the twins' facial water changes, Lucas frowned.

“Why?” asked Lucas plainly.

“Two years ago? You sure?” alvian asked by emphasizing the words on each word. “Not three years or four years or one year ago?”

“Not. Really two years ago. I remember escaping here on the night of the full moon,”, Lucas replied, followed by a nod to Alvian's understanding.

Lucas shook his head slowly. He breathed a heavy sigh. “I ... got ... chance of escape .. from .... my past.”

“Then what about your two friends? You guys run away together?” it was Alice's turn to ask. Among the two of them who always asked Lucas, Alice who looked at his face was the most predictable. The girl was very expressive about her curiosity.

“No. They ... I never knew their reason .. but sure enough, they met the professor earlier than I did. I don't like to bring up someone's past because I don't want to bring up my past. So I never asked,” replied Lucas quietly. From here Alice can understand that it turns out Lucas also has a very bitter past that does not want to bring it up. But all of those coincidences felt a bit strange to him.

“This ... what a coincidence …. Surprising,” muttered Alice involuntarily, yet Alvian could still hear it faintly.

“Why? You guys are having something similar?” asked Lucas with his eyebrows raised. He crossed his arms and touched his chin, appearing to come to think as Alvian began to explain.

YOOOOOO!!!!

The speech was instantly cut off by the sound of a huge explosion from outside the cafe. Suddenly, the three of them were wide-eyed. Followed

screams and residents who ran in panic, loud thumping sounds again sounded deafening. Instantly all was noisy, even those who were in the room immediately ran, coming out, especially when the ground started to shake.

"What else is this ..?” Alice stood in panic. He immediately grabbed his mini backpack and put it on quickly.

“This isn't part of your plan, is it, Lucas?” Alvian looked at Lucas fiercely. However, looking at Lucas' panicked facial features, the man knew that this was beyond their expectations. Alvian gulps and swears, “Sialan.”

“ROAAAAR!”

The roar really sounded clear. Even from behind the window of the cafe, the three of them could see something

monter grows in size in seconds. The monster's body was like a tyrex with purple skin and a pair of red eyes. Although it reached the second floor of the residents' house, but it was a huge monster that they had just seen.

“ROAAAAR!!”

The second time made them aware. It's like a nightmare come true.
