GATHERINGS

Laurel walks after a woman who is a hospital staff where she is going to work. It was his first day at work, the first thing he had to do was meet the head of the hospital where he worked. The female staff she knew named Mira (Laurel knew her name from the chest nameplate tucked in her left suit pocket) knocked on the door of a room 2 times.

"Come in," After the voice from inside was heard, Melia opened the door slowly.

As soon as the door was opened it appeared that a young man and a beautiful girl were standing next to each other while observing an open map held by the man. It seems that what they discussed was something fun, seen from the traces of laughter that were still left on the faces of the two people when Laurel and Mira entered the room.

"For the boss, Laurel's doctor has arrived" the man who had been seriously observing the map he was holding immediately raised his head and looked at Laurel sharply, the laughter that was still there at first, the moment Laurel entered the room suddenly disappeared, turning into a serious face and a sharp gaze. The beautiful girl standing next to him turned towards the man and Laurel took turns, feeling strange with the atmosphere suddenly becoming tense.

Laurel slightly bent her body while smiling to greet the two people in the room. The man closed the map in his hand and placed it on the desk in front of him.

"Ok, thank you Mira for bringing Dr. Laurel here, you can leave the room. Hana, later we continue our conversation after lunch," The beautiful girl called Hana immediately nodded with a smile, then walked towards the exit, once near Laurel, the girl stopped, and walked over, then extended his hand with a smile.

"Hana, I hope we can work well together,"

"Laurel, thank you," Laurel replied to Hana's hand, with a smile on her face.

The silent atmosphere immediately felt as Hana and Mira left the room. Laurel remained standing still in her place waiting for the next order from the man who seemed to be the head of the hospital. Laurel didn't expect her boss to be that young. In his dreams his boss is a middle-aged man or woman, fatherly or motherly, around the age of 50. It turned out that what Laurel imagined was completely different from reality.

The man standing before him may be over 25 years old, but not yet 30 years old, his face clearly indicates he is not a native Indonesian, because it is clearly visible from his hair that is brown and his eyes are blue, sharp-nosed, coupled with a height above 180 cm, the body height, even if there is Indonesian blood in his body, it must be only part of it.

"Please sit down" Once the man orders Laurel to step foot over to the man's desk.

"Welcome," the man reached out his hand toward Laurel without a smile. Laurel warmly welcomes the outstretched hand of her boss even though in her heart she grimaces a little at the blue eyes of her real boss that look beautiful, but feel cold and sharp, look unfriendly.

"Thank you sir,"

"Please sit down" After allowing Laurel to sit down, her boss took a seat at her desk.

"This is my curiculum vitae (history list) sir," Laurel thrust out the map she was carrying, without responding to Laurel's words, the man grabbed Laurel's map, opened it and read it.

Laurel glanced at the signboard on the table in front of her, where it was written Dave Alexander Shaw, Sp.BS (Nerve Surgery Specialist). From Shaw's name behind the man's name Laurel can guess that the man in front of her now has Irish ancestry.

"What made you want to join this hospital?" Laurel instantly averted her gaze from the signboard in front of her hearing a question from her boss.

"It was my brother who gave me information about this hospital. When I learned the website about this hospital I felt interested in trying to work here. I hope that the knowledge I learned during college can help develop this company," Laurel replied with a sweet smile, even in the heart of interest, the high salary figures offered at this hospital make it quite tempting.

"I'd rather live in Indonesia, there's still my mom and sister to look after" Dave looked at Laurel sharply. Again Laurel grimaced in heart got a sharp look from Dave. Dave's brown hair reminded him of the doctor who helped him when he was stabbed 7 years ago, but the eyes of the two men were completely different, the doctor was brown-eyed and had a gentle gaze, she said, the man before her now had blue eyes that looked sharp and cold.

"If you love this country so much, why did you go to America 7 years ago?" Laurel was slightly jolted at her boss's question.

"Sorry sir, I love my country of birth, but for education, if I can get the best even in other countries I will pursue it, after all, in the end I came back here to devote myself, "Hearing Laurel's answer, Dave just kept quiet, his eyes re-read Laurel's curiculum vitae sheet.

"You're not married? When are you planning to get married?" Usually such questions are common when we apply for a job, but somehow Laurel feels a little intimidated at the moment to hear that question from her boss's cold lips, moreover, his boss gave the question without looking at him at all, his eyes fixed on the curiculum vita sheet.

"I have no plans there sir, no candidate yet" Hearing Cladia's reply, Dave lifted his head, looking at her with a sharp gaze.

"You've never been in love?" Laurel grimaced a little at the question that was too personal for her.

"Can I not answer that question sir?" Dave's right eyebrow was slightly raised hearing the rejection from Laurel.

"Do you think I have no right to know the lives of my employees?" This time Laurel really forced her smile to keep looking calm.

"But I think it's too personal, sorry if my opinion is wrong," Dave raised both his hands and folded them on the table and put his hands together.

"Are you trying to give the opinion that one's personal life does not have the slightest influence on one's work? So that I as a leader in this place have no right to know about the personal problems of my men?" Laurel took a breath for a while before putting out words to answer her boss's question. If only he could not remember that he needed a lot of money to help his mother, return some of Aunt Lina's money which although she never asked for a reply but Laurel quite know herself at this time Aunty Lina's financial condition is quite sad, laurel will unequivocally cancel her intention to work at this hospital. It seemed like his boss was a cold, heartless man and one who did not want to hear about what rejection was.

"I'm a married woman, sir" Laurel's spontaneous answer that was a little filled with emotion was enough to make Dave gasp in shock.

"My husband died 6 months ago and I haven't even had a chance to meet him until death separates," Laurel decided to continue her words because she had already revealed her condition, while Dave was trying to lower the level of sharpness in his eyes, as if feeling a little guilty made Laurel tell about her personal problems too deep, so that Laurel's eyes reddened a little because of holding back emotions, as if she was holding back her emotions, it seems that talking about the matter is really painful for Laurel.

"Today I'm going to ask Mira to give you a uniform and show me your office and ask Dr. Luciana to take you around" Dave immediately switched the conversation.

"Tomorrow you can start working normally, your schedule and job desk have been prepared by Mira, later he will also send you via email. Is there anything you want to ask?" Laurel is really grateful her boss stopped talking about her personal life. Laurel doesn't want to ask much more, either, because actually for him since he received a notice about him being accepted to work at this hospital, his boss should have learned enough curiculum vita, which he sent via email.

"No sir," Laurel answered briefly.

"Well, please see Mira, after walking around before lunch break I will introduce you to the doctor and the hospital employee" Laurel nodded, rising from her seat, slightly lowered his body to show respect and say goodbye to his boss. Dave only answered her with a nod of his head, again without a smile. Without waiting for a long time Laurel immediately turned her body towards the exit of the room, at this time it felt like she really wanted to get out of this room immediately. As soon as Laurel came out of her room, Dave immediately threw his body into the back of his chair, his palms clenched over his nose and lips while closing his eyes.
