my common sense was completely incapable of digesting all the weirdness that had befallen me lately. Everything happened outside of my consciousness. Whether related or not, surely my life has been more chaotic since the appearance of the Clouds. The man who claimed to be a journalist was like passing his misfortune on to me. Suddenly, all sorts of problems came flocking. The highlight is the event that happened last night.
Still fresh in my memory an odd event that happened exactly a day ago. A few hours before the incident, I was clearly in my room. In fact, after that I fell asleep. I never thought I would suddenly be able to move into a mansion I had never visited before. Because of that, I was thought to have evil intentions to rob the house. I had no choice but to escape through the window. Unfortunately, I fell from a height. After that, I don't remember anything anymore.
Actually, I was quite aware when I was saved by someone. Maybe it was that guy who drove me to this hospital. Of course, I don't know the identity of the man who saved me, or how he took me to this hospital. When I asked a nurse about her characteristics, the nurse tried to describe her with a familiar description.
"The man was thin-looking, dreadlocked. After delivering Mas to the emergency department, said my friend who yesterday served at the reception, the man immediately booked a first-class room on your behalf. Surprisingly, after that he disappeared. Obviously, we're confused. The hospital asked who would cover your treatment. Fortunately, not for long, we received a call. He said the caller would cover your hospital expenses" the nurse told me. Understandably, she's a nurse, not a fairy tale repairman.
I'm really curious. Who is that skinny dreadlocked guy? As I recall, I had no dreadlocks friends, other than. The teja? Of course, it's not. The nurse who told me never told me that the mysterious person had trouble walking normally. After all, how could Teja possibly be able to help me with the physical limitations she suffered?
At first, I thought the incident last night was just a dream, but the wounds all over my body, as well as the pain in my collarbone, proved the opposite. Those wounds have proven that I actually fell from a height, not from the top of the bed. However, if the event was real, how could the owner of the house just let me go without reporting to the authorities? Doesn't he think I'm a robber?
Suddenly, my daydream was interrupted by the sound of the door creaking. Instantly, I straightened my sleeping spine a moment ago.
"Diand..," Without excuse, suddenly a man entered the patient's room where I was being treated. The man's body was tall. His reddish-white face reminded me of a famous Hollywood actor, Brad Pitt. At first glance the man was about to call out a name, but he hurriedly stopped him after seeing my face. Positive, maybe he went in the wrong room.
"Ooh, you're human?" The man's speech dialect confirmed that he was indeed a foreign national. And, most importantly, he did not show any hesitation if he entered the room wrongly.
"sorry. You who?" my many.
The man looked confused. Many times his gaze checked around the room. "I'm Dr. Eddie's handling you."
I squinted my eyes at the man's clothes. He wasn't wearing a white coat like most doctors. But I can't be too naive. Indeed, not all doctors wear the coat of greatness of their profession while on duty. Maybe this guy is the kind of doctor who is not narcissistic like most of his colleagues. "You're a foreign national, aren't you?"
"I'm a medical man from Germany" he said, putting his ass on my bed. "How are you doing now? Already better?"
"Lumayan, Doc," I said, slowly. by the way, your native language is very fluent. You've lived here long? ⁇
“That's. I like this country.yes, all the people who live here also say so.
My head fell down as the doctor approached my face. I secretly harbor suspicions. There are at least three reasons behind my suspicion. First, from the beginning the man's movements were rather suspicious. Second, I have never heard of a local hospital that employs expatriates. And, the last one was the way his eyes looked at me.
There was nothing wrong with the doctor's eyes. He looked at me in the usual way. Not as sharp as the eyes of the legendary Peter. Quite the contrary, I could find shade in his eyelids. Although she was a foreigner, the friendly smile that adorned the corners of her lips seemed familiar to me. Maybe I've met him or just passed him at some point. I don't know.
"Rama. That's how you used to be called, isn't it?" The doctor who said his name was Eddie asked me again. His facial expression suddenly turned very serious.
"Yes, Doc. ⁇
Again, the doctor's gaze checked around the room, as if hinting at vigilance. "You must be moved immediately, Rama."
"I mean Doctor?"
"This room is not safe for you."
"not safe? What's wrong, Doc?"
"The whole story," concluded Dr. Eddie, while moving to take a wheelchair in the corner of the room.
"I still deserve to know, Doc. If it is true that my life is in danger, then I cannot trust anyone either. Including you."
"Police" Brief answer Dr. Eddie made me look sharply at him. "The cops came looking for you after the break-in a few days ago. There are people who deliberately target you, Rama."
Once astonished, I suddenly seemed to be bewitched by Dr.'s hand gesture. Eddie asked me to get into a wheelchair. In a slight hurry, the doctor grabbed my body and helped me take the perfect sitting position on the wheelchair.
"Where are we going, Doc?"
After making sure my seat position is perfect, Dr. Eddie started pushing the wheelchair towards the door of my room that closed automatically. Just before reaching the doorway, he turned the wheelchair 180 degrees and pulled it in a backward motion. He seemed to sigh a few times before turning the doorknob. CLAMPS! Carefully, he took the time to check on the situation outside. After being sure the situation was safe, then he pulled my wheelchair out of the room and pushed it back in the forward position.
"I don't have a picture of where I'm going. You got any ideas?" Dr. Eddie whispers.
"If the one who's after me is the police, we can't possibly hide in the hospital area. They'll find us easily."
"So, do you think we should get out of this building?"
"You mind, Doc?"
"Not at all." Dr. Eddie nodded.
The wheelchair returned to the emergency exit. The quiet atmosphere of the hospital made it easy for us through every corridor. Dr. Eddie kept watching his steps carefully. When I looked at his face, he looked serious. And, for some reason, my suspicions suddenly reappeared.
"Doc, may I ask?" suanyaku, slowly.
"Originally don't interfere with my movements, just go ahead."
"What is your motivation helping me?"
"Dok, why silence?"
"Groupsttt..."
Dr. Eddie suddenly asked me to stop making noises. His eyes grew sharper highlighting a very high level of alertness. The pair of eyeballs were now pointing forward and stimulating my eyeballs to follow the direction of his gaze. I was shocked to know what was in front of us. Three men, out of nowhere, had come to know at the end of the corridor.
"You're in a hurry, Doctor? Need a ride?" said one of the men, who appeared to be the oldest of the others.
My eyes squinted, trying to look at the face of the man who had just spoken. From the shape of his face and body, the man whose half hair had been overgrown with gray hair reminded me of someone. He's really very similar to the guy I know who likes to cut his nails. Mr Sunan?
My heart started pounding as the gray man's gaze pointed at me. "Rama," Apparently he recognized me. "Thank you for the bread."
Stuffed bread? Not wrong anymore! That man is indeed Mr. Solan!
(Who do you think he is?)
"The president was right about General Edi. You deliberately wanted to escape the boy, didn't you?"
One of the two associates of Pak Sunan involved himself in the conversation. I was confused to digest the three men's conversation. Strangely again, Dr. Eddie seems to know them, too.
"You don't understand anything. Our agreement with the general is done. We have the right to ask this child back."
"And, by order of General Edi, we will not let you go!"
Until now, I still have not caught the point of their conversation. General Edi said? Did he say it wrong? It's supposed to be Doctor Eddie, isn't it? I still don't understand. Why are there so many people named Edi? Actually this guy who holds my wheelchair is a doctor or a general?
"Doctor, what exactly is going on? I really don't understand" I asked Dr. Eddie, or General Eddie or whatever.
The man who claimed to be a German passport did not rush to answer my question. Instead of answering, he whispered something into my ear. "Whatever happens, you must leave this place. Wait for me. If I say 'Run', run as fast as you can. Understood?"
"But I need an explanation, Doc." Inevitably, I also whispered to respond to Dr. Eddie.
"Just do what I ask."
Later, Dr. Eddie took his hand off the handle of my wheelchair. With heavy steps due to possible age factor, he approached three obstacles who were still faithfully standing at the end of the corridor.
"All right, brothers and sisters. Looks like we need to talk really well. As you know, this is all a business matter. Isn't in every business, everything can be discussed?"
"The government of General Edi is clear. If you try to escape the boy, then we have to act. In fact, we are also given the discretion to finish you off if you keep insisting," explained the man who looks like Mr. Sunan, straightforward.
"good. Does it sound like I insist?" Step by step Dr. Eddie slowly began to approach Mr. Sunan. "Maybe more precisely not yet. I just want to invite you to. mmm.. musyawarah."
"Sorry, Doc. We are not leaders to talk to. We're just a bunch of soldiers taking orders."
"That's exactly it," Dr. Eddie stopped his steps right in the middle of the corridor. "That's exactly what I want to make a better offer. I want to humanize you more."
The left eyebrow of Pak Sunan's twin rises. "humanizing?"
"I'm sure people like you never get the chance to aspire. Have you ever thought that all this time you were only considered a messenger by your masters?" It seems like Dr. persuasive remarks. Eddie managed to shake the intention of the three obstacles. Although they looked timid, they looked at each other. "I can offer you a better life. As you know, I have connections in the German government. You've never been abroad, have you?"
"Enough, Doc! Stop your bullshit!" The person who resembles Pak Sunan then reached into the inside of his leather jacket. I was surprised to see a 9 mm gun come out from behind his jacket.
"Waters, watch out for that gun. I've known you for a long time. I also know very well that your abilities are not in the field of weapons. You are a street executor, Sunan. You are a good driver. You don't have to force yourself."
A water? So, that guy was really Mr Sunan?
"You underestimated me? You think a driver can't use a firearm? I'll just point the tip of this gun at your head before pulling the trigger. What's difficult?"
"You have another choice not to do that. You know me. I'm not General Edi who always breaks promises."
Pak Sunan looked back at his two colleagues. Clearly there was doubt in his eyes. Dr capabilities. Eddie in a tongue-licking apparently has swayed his stance. Meanwhile, Dr. Eddie tried to take advantage of the situation. Quietly, he stepped closer to Mr. Sunan and his friends. And, at the third step, he immediately jumped into Pak Sairan's body. The bodies of the two collapsed and struggled on the floor of the corridor.
"RUN!" exclaiming Dr. Eddie's in the middle of his tussle.
Relying on the push of the foot, I tried to get up from the wheelchair. Not wanting to lose the opportunity, I immediately flicked my way though with a limp.
"CHASE HIM!" Pak Sunan's voice sounded no less loud. As I looked back, I saw two of his comrades start running after me.
Overwhelmed by the overwhelming panic, I tried to spur my leg swing. However, just reaching several meters away, my breath was already panting. Both of my legs have not recovered properly, so it is still difficult to be invited to run fast. Besides, I'm not a marathon runner. I'm just a reporter who used to run after deadlines. Even if I had to run, at best, I only ever chased a politician who refused to be questioned after getting out of the building Anti-Corruption Committee.
While my feet were beginning to stagger, I was just hoping, maybe there was an attendant or a hospital visitor who happened to pass by to call for help. Sayup-sayup, I heard the footsteps of two people who were chasing me began to get closer. I'm starting to be pessimistic. I will not be able to keep up with their running speed.
In the midst of a critical situation, I suddenly felt my body crashing forward. Suddenly, my running speed became tight as it was. In fact, under normal physical condition, I had never run this fast. Curious, I looked down. Strangely, both of my legs were still not moving.
I started to get drunk when I found a corner of the corridor that forms letter T at the end of the corridor. To turn, I had to reduce my speed, but right now I am not in control. I began to move as my body got closer to the wall. My eyes closed, realizing that the distance between my body and the wall was only a few centimeters away. However, I suddenly felt the presence of a strong wind that blew my body to turn the direction. Not until there, the impulse of the wind brought me back to speed.
(Thank you, Teja.)
