Getting Married through Tradition
19. Engagement Night

"Oh, maybe the name we introduced, with a different school name, ma'am. You see, when at home, I always call my son with the name Cherry. And, I introduced her to my mother by the name of Cherry. While my son at school called him Hana, Mom. Take first name. Usually in school, it's like that, right?" terang Bu Darma to Bu Praja.

"Oh well deserved, meaning, Leo is also called Hasan, dong!" answer Mrs Praja.

"Sorry Mom, what was the name of the mother's child ... Hasan?" ask Bu Darma to clarify.

"Yes, Miss Darma, my son is Hasan Leonil Praja Pamungkas. If you call the first name, it means Hasan," said Bu Praja accompanied by a smile.

"Yes Allah," said Bu Darma shocked and happy.

"That's right, they already knew each other, even before they met at school, they had met, Mom," said Bu Darma surprised them all.

"Loh, seriously you, Mah! Koq can tell," Mr. Darma chimed in on his wife, while Bu Praja and Pak Praja listened.

"Seriously, Pah! So, their first meeting was at the park in front of the compound, Pah. Cherries once told me when she went, she forgot to bring water. Then, Cherry bought mineral water, when she had drunk, and wanted to pay, it turns out she did not bring money. Fortunately, there is Hasan who is hollow," said Bu Darma with a smile.

"Oh, thank goodness they knew each other. I'm glad to hear that, Mom. Hopefully, their relationship at school is also fine, Mom! And hopefully, this is a good sign for our family" Bu Praja said with pleasure as well.

"Amin" they answered in unison.

Hana and Hasan's parents, both feel happy with this reality. They then talked about something else, waiting for Hasan and Hana to return.

Outside, Hana still could not believe what she saw. That the one who will be betrothed to him is Hasan. He doesn't know if he should be happy or sad, or ordinary.

Hana looked bored after running from outside. Hasan caught up with him from behind.

Hana was standing on the balcony of the cafe, she was resting her hands on the fence.

Hasan set his breath to keep his rhythm in tune, with a slow step he stood behind Hana, then patted Hana's open shoulder.

"Hana!" greet Hasan.

Hannah was shocked and looked back.

"The heat! I ... I'm ...."

"You must be in shock, right? I do too, Han," Hasan replied then standing beside Hana.

The breeze of the wind tonight, hit their faces, the romantic music of the cafe, added to his martyrdom that night.

"I did not expect, it turns out the guy who said Papa ... That's you, San," Hana said with foresight.

"Same, Han! I do too. Frankly, I am also confused as to what this is like! I ... A–aku can only be diem, let alone earlier, right in the dalem, I actually like to faint when you see, standing in front of me, with a different appearance of course," hasan said as he glanced at Hana and held a smile at the corner of her small lips.

Hasan was undeniable, the girl who was now beside him, was the second most beautiful woman after her Mother.

Hana and Hasan were silent for a while. Then Hasan spoke again.

"Han, actually, there are a lot of things I want to ask you. The most important question now is ... You want to be fooled by me?" hasan asked while looking at Hana.

There are words that are difficult for them to describe, difficult to pronounce.

"San, I don't know what to answer. These are all the wishes of my parents, the wishes of our parents. And also a family tradition that has been passed down the generations. So, for this, I want to be betrothed to you, because of a tradition in my family, and also for the sake of my parents, San. I don't want to disappoint them. I love them both so much,"

"That means, you agree with this match? I also think the same with you, Han. I can't possibly argue with my parents either. My parents have never denied the things I love, they never made me cry, sad, even down. They always make me happy, yes, I hurt them by refusing this match,"

"I did too, San! We are in the same position, I hope we can work together on this matchmaking, even though between us, there is no sense at all" Hana said, staring fixedly at Hasan's eyes.

Hasan nodded in agreement.

"Well, let's go in, they'll be waiting for us" Hasan said.

The two of them then went back inside by walking in tandem. Their parents welcomed the arrival of the two happily.

"This is it, the bride-to-be who was waiting for ... Mama does not believe, it turns out you already know each other," said Bu Praja with a sumringah pulling Hasan's hand to sit on the chair.

Hasan and Hana looked at each other and smiled.

"Lifting we immediately discuss this meeting, and after that just eat well, let's not be late, our children also already know each other, so, insya Allh, there are no obstacles later, no obstacles later, okay!" proposed Mr. Praja and approved by all of them.

"Leo, Cherry, tonight is a very important family gathering. Where, between families we have a common tradition ... For that, tonight I as the Guardian of Leo, want to invite Mr. Darmawan, to continue this tradition again by binding our children. Does Mr Darmawan agree?" said Mr. Praja seriously.

Mr. Darma looked at Cherry and Leo in turn, then, Mr. Darma smiled and nodded, "Yes, I want to continue this tradition, Mr. Praja, and it seems, our children are not a problem. Don't you, Cherry, Leo?"

"Em, yes, Pah," replied Hana.

"Yes, Om!" answer Hasan.

"Alhamdulillah, my wife and I are very happy to hear the approval of Mr. Darma, Ms. Darma, and of course, both candidates. Because the parties of each family have agreed, therefore, tonight we direct the engagement of our children," said Mr. Praja smiling.

Both Hasan and Hana's parents were very happy with the smoothness of the match. They are unceasingly smiling. Hasan and Hana felt an erratic heartbeat.

Pak Praja took out a jewelry box that contained two engagement rings with initials L and C.

Hasan and Hana looked at each other. They just keep quiet and listen to the conversations of their parents.

"Sir Darmawan, witnessed by your family and my own family, can my son establish a bond with his father? Which will later be betrothed by my son as a wife, for now and forever," said Mr. Praja asked for permission.

Mr. Darmawan nodded. Then, Mr. Praja continued his word– again.

"Thank God, therefore, allow my child to pair the engagement ring, on the father's finger," said Mr. Praja then handed the L-initial ring to Leo, to be placed on the finger of the Cherry. And initials C, to be paired on Leo's finger.

"Yes, please, sir," said Mr. Darma.

Saying Bismillah, Hasan then paired the ring with the initials L to Hana's finger, and vice versa.
