"There are guests."
Bu Tin's greeting stopped their joking. Their attention was on Mrs Tin.
"Eh Bulik Tin. Okta kangeeenn."
Okta stood up directly hugging tightly Bu Tin. He had not hugged the mother of his best friend for a long time.
"You, you rarely play. If nganter Nisa instead of stopping by first even go straight home."
Okta chuckles. It's true. He rarely stopped there for a while.
They all stood up, greeting Ms. Tin. It was with great pleasure that Bu Tin received their helping hand.
"Thank you, you guys want to play in Nisa's hut. Sorry if it's uncomfortable" said Ms. Tin.
"Not really buk, we are comfortable. Although small, but the house is comfortable occupied by Buk," said Ivan.
"Huss!" Bagas kicked Ivan's leg. Ivan grimaced in pain.
"Why the hell lo!" Ivan did not accept it.
"I'm sorry our friend Buk." Bagas was not tasty because Ivan alluded to the little word.
Bu Tin laughed, "Haha it's Nak, it's true. His name is also a little hut, son. But thank goodness you're comfortable."
"Loh Nis, you haven't given them a drink?" ask Mrs Tin. He still saw the mat they were sitting on was still empty, there was no drink even food available.
"Hehe forgot Mak."
Mrs Tin shook her head, "Ck deh Nis's habits"
"Sorry Mommy." Nisa developed her guilty smile.
"Udah Buk, no need," reject the subtle shade.
"It's okay. You guys just talk. I made you a drink" said Ms. Tin as she walked into the kitchen.
Nisa also stood up following her mother preparing a snack for them. Once everything was ready, Nisa brought the drink to her best friends.
"I'm sorry there is only sweet anget doang tea" said Nisa.
"Yaampun Nis, even bother. For Ivan mah tap water is enough" said Dhika.
"Babuset! Not really. Wahh...lo was exposed to the virus bully me from Bagas." said Ivan did not accept.
"O Lord, heal your persecuted servant."
Ivan raised his hand, his head looking up, like praying.
"Helehhh sob holy lo bege!"
Bagas pushed Ivan forward. Ivan grumbled in annoyance. Laughter was heard between them.
"Wihhhhh there's a guest!" setyo just got home from work.
"Have you come home?" ask Okta.
"Yet Ta. Here is the shadow doang," said Setyo.
"Well, if you answer the real dong, yes," complained Okta.
"Well, if you ask the real question. I'm here it means already home," said Rindang. Everybody laugh.
"Now for all of you. Good thing my hunch is right."
Suddenly Ms. Tin placed a plate of chocolate-skinned tubers with white meat in front of them. Rindang, Dhika, Bagas, and Ivan stared at the strange food. They had never seen it even eat it.
Like this shape.
"That's what Buk is?" ask Dhika. Dhika's question successfully attracted attention.
"Serius didn't know?" chirps Nisa.
Rindang, Bagas, and Ivan also admitted it. Mrs Tin smiled.
"Ck basic Indonesian style foreign children. I don't know," ledek Setyo.
"Mas." call Ms. Tin full of warnings.
Setyo only showed a row of white teeth with his trademark grin.
Bu Tin smiled, "This is her name. The carbohydrate content in the gibbili is quite high. Great as a substitute for rice. So suitable for consumption by people who want to diet," explained Bu Tin.
"Try it" he said again.
They just nodded and tried to eat it. Turns out it tastes good. There is a slight sweetness that is felt when it is tongue-tied.
It's getting late. They want to say goodbye home. But Mrs Tin's request, made them stay.
"Everyone, don't go home. I've prepared dinner for you. Yes, although it may not be as good as in your home" he asked.
Mr. Man walked over to those who were sitting down. Yeah, they're not headed to the dining table. The seats are not enough to accommodate 10 people. They stay in their original place. One by one the food was served in front of them. Simple but appetizing food menu.
Kale stir-fry, tofu and fried tempeh, omelet, and sambal terasi served as a dinner menu that they will eat. Shrimp crackers are added as a complement.
"I'm sorry, this is all I can provide. Let's eat it," said the mother.
One by one fill their plates with the menu. They ate their dinner greedily. A simple menu feels more delicious when eaten with family and friends like this. The taste of Bu Tin's cooking matched on their tongues.
"Wahh was full" said Ivan, holding his stomach.
"Mother dishes are delicious" Dhika said.
"Thank God it fits on your tongue."
"How's your school?" ask Mr. Man.
"Our school is smooth, sir," said Rindang representing them all.
"Thank God, then,"
"It's crackers still no one wants to not?" ask Mr. Man. They all shook their heads. Their stomachs were too full to hold a cracker.
"Alright Mr. Ma.." said Mr. Man paused when Bu Tin took the crackers that Mr. Man held.
"Yaaa." said Mr. Man who was not willing.
"Well, you asked, you mamak eat," said Bu Tin then devoured the crackers. Their laughter was heard seeing the ridiculous behavior of the couple.
