Mr. Dirman seemed to be struggling in the kitchen making porridge. Although a widower and used to be served by his children, he occasionally went to the kitchen. Sometimes want to eat porridge, noodles, coffee and of course there is a sense of condolence if you keep asking your children to make this and that.
The rice that has been washed is then poured water and cooked on a pot while stirring continuously so as not to burn. Mr. Dirman added a pinch of salt and pandan leaves and then stirred again until it was completely cooked.
There is a porridge that has been cooked into a bowl then given a sprinkling of fried onions. He wanted to add the abon on top of it but after searching around in the refrigerator he did not find it.
"The mother El..... The abortion does not exist, is it up?" Ask Laila who just came out of El's room. The room that used to be in his sister Doni is now occupied by his son.
"In the refrigerator there is no yah.?".", he walked towards the refrigerator to find what was meant by his in-laws. As he remembered he put it in the freezer hopefully not really run out.
"So don't you know why?" said Mr. Dirman while sitting at the dinner table.
"This is well, only this much remains.", Laila gave the abon who lives a seuprit on the in-law.
"Papa is not good. Dad didn't look at this...".
"In the freezer yeah...."
"Ooh.....".
Laila noticed Dirman's sir who sprinkled the ashes over the porridge. He was curious about the tumbens of his father-in-law making porridge and arranged in such a way. The bowl is diced in a plate and then placed on a tray.
"No papa, son, hot porridge mixed with cold ashes like this?", Mr. Dirman worried lest it be dangerous.
"Ehm... don't know either.well..."Laila was also confused so did not know what to answer.
Laila wanted to ask but she held him back, wanting to know exactly who the porridge was for.
"Please take this next door, son!", he said as he gave a tray to Laila.
"Who's sick?"Laila accepted it and the more kepo she made. It's not unusual for the father to bother like that.
"That's Jannah!", she said as she left Laila for her room because she was somehow embarrassed to mention the middle-aged woman's name.
Ani saw the face of the father's meeting and shame even though only a glance. He smiled and rushed to the house from behind.
Bang Alif's house looks lonely because it is time for people to rest.
He entered without knocking on the door first. The door is closed but not in the lock.
Put a tray on the dining table then walk forward towards the living room as it seems like he heard a sound from that direction.
Ani was seen sitting closed her eyes with her hands holding Maryam's donut. While the puffy and adorable baby was fun playing and eating crumbs of baby biscuits that had been ruffled since.
Feeling that someone was standing nearby, Ani opened her eyes.
"Sister.?", he slowly straightened his body then raised both his hands to stretch his body. All day activities make his body tired and force his eyes to rest. Even though it was only a few minutes it was enough to get him back excited.
Laila lifted Maryam from her donut, kissing the adorable cheek of the baby.
" Mom's sick?". Laila asked as she had landed her butt on the sofa not far from Ani.
Ani nodded her head because her mouth was still a bit lazy to speak.
"Dad makein mother porridge.", Laila's eyes sparkled happily when she said it.
Ani widened her eyes between surprise and happiness, "Really?".
It was like getting a breath of fresh air because it was the desire of the whole family to unite the two. Rina has a family and goes home to her husband. Likewise with Ani who will soon catch up with him. Everyone will be busy with their families and to visit the father's house is not possible every day.
They wanted their father to have friends talk and share to fill his old age. Can complain and pampered which of course will not be done on his children. A wife can fulfill everything especially when night falls. It can be a roll, it can be a hug, it can be a blanket.
Especially for Ani, Bu Jannah is the will of the late ustadz Zainuddin who must be guarded and cared for. The girl still remembered how her last moments with the man once filled her days as she slumped for failing with her first love.
In the last days of ustdaz Zainuddin he repeatedly entrusted the mother to his future wife as if she had a hunch that her age would not be long. It's just that Ani had no thoughts of getting there. Fate only allowed the two of them to be together for a moment.
Ani sighed, she felt she could breathe with relief because after she married and lived with her husband, bu Jannah will not feel alone and lonely because it has a husband to complain and pour out everything whether it is the bitterness or sweetness of life.
Ani and Laila threw smiles at each other. They had not yet moved to begin the plan but it seemed that nature did have the will to unite the two.
Maryam laughed with excitement as if she was happy with the situation she had not understood.
"Usually when bathed the baby will fall asleep. Try to bathe first!", Laila sometimes still can not call Ani and Karina by name alone.
"But Ashr later if the measuring man came how? Cook woke up again, don't you pity brother?".
"Yes even the measuring man. His son did not move" said Laila.
"Yes, I bathed Maryam. The porridge will be eaten by mother if sister Mia comes, sister. I was on the drug. Why not go home yet? Tumbens..."
Laila leaves Alif's bang house and heads to her in-laws' house in fear that El will wake up from his nap.
" Don't forget that Ashr will be gone, brother!"
"Yes..!".
.
.
.
After Ashr the whole family gathered to take measurements of the uniform that will be used at the wedding reception Ani and Zainal.
Brother Mia and Bang Alif are first because they have a teaching agenda at TPQ. Afterwards Laila, Bang Lukman, the father, then El and the newlywed couple, Karina and Ibrahim. Also the little Maryam who was still asleep after being bathed earlier.
There were two officers who came and they worked very deftly. Until it's over, Dirman revealed a sullen face with pursed lips. It looks funny because of his old age and he acts like a child who is sulking at his mother.
" You all forgot one of the residents of this house.!", he said could not stand it anymore because the measuring man was getting ready to pack his tools.
The children and their daughters-in-law looked at each other. They completely forget about someone who should also belong to the family.
And it was Ani who first remembered her, "Yes Alloh...!!!".
"Astaghfirullahaladzim." said they simultaneously why be oon all and forget the woman who is already like family.
"Make a special dress! Because we were going to get married on the same day" Interrupted the father while leaving the residence bang Alif.
Once again the young men looked at each other, this time with gaping mouths. I don't believe what I just heard.
Wah.... must say bang Alif this soon, how will the response?
