"There were several sunnahs performed by the Prophet on newborn babies

It is mentioned in one of the hadiths, "Whoever gives birth to a child, then utters the adhan to his right ear and recites the iqomah to his left ear, then he will not be harmed by Umm Shibyan."

The Prophet said, "Every newborn child is afflicted with his aqiqah, (until) it is disfigured (aqiqah) for him on the seventh day, shaved his hair and named." Then Sayyidina Umar called the young man and said, "your father has complained to you that you are an ungodly child"

The young man then asked, "wow Amirul mukminin Is there a parental obligation to his son or the rights of the child to his parents?"

then sayyidina Umar answered "yes there is"

sayyidina Umar then answered the obligation of a father to his first child is to choose a good mother for him. the second gave him a good name as a prayer for him and the third was to educate him according to the adab of Islam and the Koran

The young man then said, "What if my father does not fulfill my rights as a duty. He did not choose the Sholihah mother for me but instead he married a former slave of the Magi religion. He even named me Ju'lan (meaning shredded rat). He also did not teach me to teach even if it was just one verse !"

At that instant Umar ibn Khattab Ra turned away, his eyes looking sharply at the boy's parents, saying: "Then it is not your son who is disobedient, but you are a disobedient parent!"
