Don't Separate Me
So hateful
After a week in the hospital, the doctor allowed Salma to go home. Although his body condition had recovered, but his heart still hurt from the loss. Salma was like a dazed person who did not know where to go and act.
Burhan took time off from his office and took care of his wife. There is nothing more important to him than his beloved wife. Every day Burhan patiently took care of Salma. He never left Salma alone and lonely. Burhan occasionally invites conversation even though neglected.
Burhan's mother was always looking for faults to blame Salma and corner him. Burhan and his mother fought more every time his mother threw a tantrum. That day Burhan plans to invite Salma a way out of the house to find fresh air.
"Huhhhhhh! Very clever acting. She is fit to be a drama queen. You don't have to pretend to be crazy. It won't change anything. The fact is you killed your own baby." Burhan's mother spoke harshly.
Salma just kept quiet and looked at her mother-in-law, and suddenly her tears flowed on her cheeks.
"What's mom? Can't Mama keep up with Mama's talk?" Burhan shouted furiously at the sight of his wife crying.
"That's the reality." Said Burhan's mother, still blaming and not giving up.
"Just know not to talk to Mom. It's no use. Mending don't talk." Burhan left his mother.
Burhan took his wife away from his mother. Because if they stay there, his mother's talk will be more painful.
Since the beginning of their relationship has been denied by Burhan's mother. And until now Burhan's mother still hates Salma. And after Salma miscarried, Burhan's mother increasingly had a clear reason to hate Salma.
Burhan's mother blames and berates Salma every time she sees Salma. There was clearly hatred on his face. It doesn't matter if Burhan's there or not. His words were getting more painful to digest. When Salma chooses to be quiet, it will be painful. But when Salma refuted, his words would be even more painful. Salma always chose to be silent, and harbored her own pain.
"No need to be spoiled, do not let the womb always want to be spoiled." Her mother-in-law's words were rude as Burhan watched his wife.
"What the hell is that talking? Salma's condition has not recovered. And she's my wife, it's only natural that I pay attention and spoil her." Answer Burhan.
"Don't spoil her too much, she'll just get more and more. And finally you're stepped on as a husband." Burhan's mother's words are getting sadistic.
"Over Burhan how would. She's my wife. And again Mama never reveal yesterday's problems that Salma miscarried. He was unintentionally. So Mama has no right to harm her." Burhan said furiously.
"Hahh it turns out you've been instigated by that woman. Just be careful if you influence my son to hate me. Basic instigator." Said Burhan's Mother.
Salma who heard with her own ears the quarrel Mother and child could only shut up and cry, feeling guilty because because of him, Mother and child did not get along properly. While Burhan's father just kept silent watching the quarrel. He thought that if he interfered, he would become more and more aware of the character of his wife who would not give in to anyone.
Salma who was not strong to hear the words of her mother-in-law chose to run away leaving their quarrel.
"Mama what the hell is this. If Mama's still interfering with my and Salma's business, I'd better get out of this house." Burhan said in a high tone after seeing his wife running away.
"You're threatening Mama?" Ask Burhan's mother.
"You always stood up for that woman. Just look at you'll be sorry you've been like Mama and defended her." Said Burhan's mother.
"I'd be more sorry if I didn't defend her and chose to listen to Mama." Answer Burhan.
"You don't be like a child. Mama's doing all this for your good." Said Burhan's mother.
"It was my mother who was like a child. Burhan knows what's good and what's bad for me. So Mama doesn't have to interfere in my business. Because it's useless Mama would do anything to separate me from Salma because it's free. I'm leaving." Burhan said he ended the conversation and left his parents.
"Burhan listen to Mama first. Mama's not done talking. Mama doesn't want you to be influenced by that woman." Shouted Burhan's mother to see her son who left her.
"I've listened enough to my mom. And there's nothing I need to hear anymore." Answer Burhan.
In Burhan's room he saw his wife crying. Unable to watch her cry, Burhan approached her and hugged her gently.
"I'm sorry Mom said yes. I know you're hurt." Burhan whispered in Salma's ear.
Salma just kept quiet and answered and kept crying. Burhan hugged her tighter. Salma's cry grew sobbing that she described how much heartache she felt.
"If you're not strong, we can get out of this house and live in our own house." Said Burhan who was not strong to see the sadness of his wife.
"I don't want my mom to hate me more. If we get out of here, Mama's gonna be a lot less fond of me because she thinks I influenced you and took you away." Salma answered letting go of her husband's embrace.
"But I don't want you to be hurt by every word of Mama." Burhyan was worried.
"I will stay strong as long as you hold my hand and support me. I will hold on as hard as I can. Because I have you. How can I let you and Mama always fight and not get along because of me?" Salma.
"But you're my wife. It's only natural that I don't accept that you're being bullied by anyone, including my own mother." Burhan.
"I know you love me very much. But do you want Mama to hate me more. Tomorrow again don't be too rough with Mama. I could endure the pain of Mama's words that might sound rude to me. But I can't stand the pain when you fight with Mama." Salma said with tears still flowing on her cheeks.
Hearing Salma's words, Burhan grew sadder and re-embraced Salma.
"I'm sorry, honey. I should have made you happy, not put you into unhappiness." Burhan said crying.
"By being with you and you always supporting me, I'm already very happy. Let's just say it's a test that will make me stronger and loved by Mama." Salma replied back to Burhan's embrace.
