Different Faiths But the Same Amen

Different Faiths But the Same Amen
53. The Hard Choice

That afternoon Ticia came out of a cafe with a sad face. I don't know what the burden of his mind is. His gaze was empty like thinking of a heavy thing.

An hour ago. Ticia asked Darwis to be alone. Without Varen. Ticia had no idea what Darwis wanted to talk to her about. Why Darwis asked for just the two of them.

Arriving at the cafe appointed by Darwis. Ticai nervously entered the cafe. It was the first time he made a pact with his beloved papa, without his lover.

"What's up, om?" ticia asked still nervously.

"It's okay. There's just something to discuss with you" Darwis said, making Ticia even more confused.

"I...?"

"Yes." replied Darwis nodding his head slowly.

But suddenly Darwis was restrained to say his intentions and goals. Dervish looked at Ticia who looked nervous and awkward. Whether he wants to continue his words or not. Dervish repeatedly sighed.

That choice was a hard choice for him. Darwis is well aware. If the woman in front of him is currently. He's the one who's made his son happy for over half a year.

However, Darwis also could not help but keep his promise. He's a man who has to keep his word.

For almost two weeks he struggled with the problem. Not once twice did he offer anything else to Jane. But Jane still insists on matching their children.

And after thinking long, Dervish finally decided to fulfill Jane's request. There's a reason for that. Given that Varen's relationship with Ticia will never end. Because of that bridge of difference of belief.

"What the hell is om?" ask Ticia again. He was getting curious because Darwis kept quiet.

"Cia, this is a hard choice for om, actually." The mongrel started to open his mouth.

Ticia also frowned. He's getting curious again. What he really wants his papa Varen to discuss to him.

"You know it's the same aunt Jane, Rose's mother, decided to split up because she wanted to fulfill Gio's wishes, go back with her mother." Dervish stopped and looked at Ticia who was already very curious.

"Moreover Rose asked for compensation. It was actually wrong om the hell, om who promised compensation for his mother Rose. But I never thought, if Rose's mom would ask-"

"What do you ask?" Ticia could no longer hold back her curiosity.

"request.. Asking to match Rose with Gio."

Dyarrr...

Ticia was shocked. What this means is that Varen's papa invited Ticia to meet. Does Varen's papa want to ask Ticia to give up and leave Varen.

Ticia then remembered the past few days. What because this is also the attitude of Varen has changed a little lately. Varen becomes even more spoiled, and always says that he doesn't want to part with Ticia. Also said, if she doesn't want to be told to choose between her mom or Ticia.

And also Varen's attitude to Rose became increasingly cold and harsh. If usually Varen doesn't matter when Rose always follows them. Lately, Varen has always been angry when Rose tries to get close to them. Even asked Ticia to switch seats.

"So you mean to meet me, would you like me to stay with Varen?" ticia asked with some emotion.

"You can't be selfish Leticia!"

"I'm selfish? If I'm selfish, what do you keep? It's personal with aunt Jane, it has nothing to do with me or Varen's sister." Ticia is getting bolder.

"There was. It definitely has something to do with Gio." said Darwis quickly.

"If Gio doesn't want to be betrothed to Rose. It was the same Gio no longer wanted his mom and dad to be together. You must remember! Your relationship is above differences of belief that cannot be united. While the relationship with aunt Dina will be intertwined forever."

"Om know you're a poor kid, you know what you have to do. Oh, tell me first!" Darwis stood up and left Ticia in her place.

The meaning of the words of Darwis is very clear. If Varen refuses her match, she will lose her whole family. But, if she accepts Varen's match, she will lose Ticia.

But one thing that should not be forgotten. The relationship between different religions will never end. And one thing is for sure, they'll split up halfway.

When out of the cafe, Ticia's mind is always filled with questions about what she should do. Ticia wants to see Varen happy, and have a whole family. But, Ticia also did not want to part with Varen.

It may be true what Darwis said. If he is selfish. But what can he do. The choice was too difficult for him.

Maybe also such a choice is also felt by Varen. He must choose between family or love.

....

In the midst of his heart. Ticia went to church to pray. He wanted to ask for clues to the problem.

When your heart is troubled. Come to God and bow down. Put all hope only to Him. He is the answer to all your prayers.

Tears can't be Ticia's damned. "Give the best guidance to Your servant, Lord." He cried out.

Even at home, Ticia still felt uneasy with her struggles. It was realized by his mother. His mother used to see her son cheerfully. This time he saw the sad look on his youngest daughter.

"Why are you, sayank? You got a problem?" ask Ticia's mother.

"Berantem with Varen?" heard the name of her boyfriend called. Unknowingly Ticia became uncontrollably crying. Ticia then hugged her mother and told her everything. About the choices he faced.

Her mother gently stroked her daughter's long hair. "Mom doesn't forbid you to date anyone. Because you know, love can't be determined who will fall" she said gently.

"Only when you fall in love, you must also be ready to feel heartache. You have to be ready to choose how your relationship will go. Especially love with a difference of faith. You must be ready to part at all times, because differences in faith, cannot be crossed. Your love will not end. Inevitably, farewells must indeed occur. Either today, tomorrow, or later." Ticia's mother tried to give her son an understanding.

"Ticia is in love with Varen, buk." said Ticia with tears that had broken.

"Mom knows, if you don't love, there's no way you'll be in a dilemma like now. But back again, our religion encourages us to have a relationship with people who both believe in Christ."

"And you should know. If you keep going, you'll make Varen lose his whole family. While you can't stay with Varen forever. And when that comes, Varen will lose everything. He'll lose you, as well as his whole family." Ticia's mother doesn't want to scare Ticia. However, Ticia's mother tries to remember far ahead what will happen. Not precede destiny. But just a far-sighted view. And that's all the conclusions he's been thinking about, from his son's story.

"Pray! Ask God to give you the answer to your struggle." Ticia was increasingly unable to control her emotions. She cried sobbing in her mother's soft arms.
